Yeah ive had it for a solid week now. I just leave it at “Connecting to streaming server…” and it eventually starts. Now its just stuck at “Connecting to streaming server…”.
What the hell is “Streaming Server”? This crap is preventing me to go inside the game.
Why is this still an issue here?
By the way, I am from America server: SG region.
I can’t log in on one account Europe region (I’m from Serbia), but I can log in on a different account, which is US region.
Apparently, this is a problem with some accounts only. I have no idea what that could mean, but maybe it could give some idea to support guys…
Blizzard slowly destroying everything the old blizzard worked so hard to build.
This worked for me:
1.Go into Battlenet launcher settings.
2. Click on Streaming
3. Disable Streaming
same…from Canada same message
Yes this worked…thanks.
I can’t believe how bad this issue is and how long it has been going on
Especially in ANZ when the playerbase has reduced massively in the last months, this feels like the nail in the coffin
Just worked for me:
DELETE CACHE!
Close Bnet app and end task on Agent
Start > Run > %ProgramData%
Delete Blizzard Entertainment folder
Restart Bnet
For me, when the connecting to streaming server message is there, i just go into network and sharing centre, then change adapter settings, and disable my local area connection, then the message disappears and i quickly enable it again while the game loads. Probably works if you use wifi as well.
Yep I have this problem too. Endless Connecting to streaming service which is not letting the game boot. I either have to wait for ages for it to run. Or like tonight it was not booting and I managed to get in from hitting cancel a few times which was inconsistent.
FIX THIS DAME PROBLEM. Only started 30 days ago now and it keeps coming back after 2/3 patches already! Never had this problem in the history of playing this game
Noooooo not again. I’m so upset, I had to put up with this error weeks ago and now it’s back. I just want to play.
Same issue. Haven’t been able to play in a couple of months.
It’s an issue for myself and my friends as well. It’s been extremely difficult to get into the game as a group. This combined with the longer queues (10+ minutes for quick match!) means people have been playing other MOBAs instead.
I had this issue, put a ticket in and the first link in the response fixed it!
Hey there!
Tech Game Master Epinexet here about that trouble updating Heroes of the Storm. In order to find what is causing this, we’ll want to try some steps to help narrow down the cause of the issue and get this working for you again. I’ll start with the most likely cause, and work from there. Don’t worry though if none of these steps fix the problem directly - even failed troubleshooting steps give us more information to work with, and help us get closer to finding the root of the problem so we can get your games working again!
Right now, it sounds like the update agent which manages installing, patching, and launching all of our games is acting up. I’ll definitely do my best to get to the bottom of this with you. It’s a bit of a read, though, so bear with me.
The first thing that comes to mind is that your copy of the update agent might be corrupted. We’ll want to delete the folder itself so that it can be re-downloaded, which’ll clear the corruption up. Follow these steps to to do so: Deleting the Battle.net Cache Folder - Blizzard Support and these steps as well: Deleting Battle.net Files - Blizzard Support
Just tried to play and also got this message for the first time, from Canada trying to connect to Americas Region.

Was just playing SC2 and that was running fine. Haven’t tried other Blizzard games yet. Have also tried some workarounds mentioned on this page, but without success – when I change region, play, cancel, then change region again to my original region, it says it’s preparing to download files, but doesn’t come through.
Uninstalled and reinstalling now…
Edit: reinstalling didn’t solve the issue.
Also tried Overwatch and D3, and they both work. HotS seems to be my only Blizzard game that doesn’t work.
Ok found a possible permanent solution at least for me.
Uncheck IPv6 From NIC Properties.
Just Google “disable ipv6 windows 10”
EDIT: Still need to hit “Cancel” though. The solution above just for downloading Data from streaming server. Before this it’s stucked on 0%. Hitting cancel did nothing.
This has now been an ongoing issue for me for over a month. I’ve tried all of the suggested official and unofficial remedies to no avail. The only answer is to let the dialogue box sit for 10-15 minutes.
Other Blizzard games that work without an issue on my rig/internet connection:
WoW
Hearthstone
Diablo 3
Overwatch
Starcraft 2
Starcraft Remastered
Destiny 2 works fine
Warframe runs fine
EvE Online runs fine
Every owned game on Steam/GoG (random selection from 600+) runs fine
Guild Wars/Guild Wars 2 runs fine
World of Warships/World of Tanks US and Asia servers runs fine
League of Legends… runs fine
PoE… runs fine
Smite… runs fine
Armored Warfare runs fine
Fortnite runs fine
Am I seeing a pattern? Oh yeah, every online game that I own that is NOT HotS has no issues whatsoever.
Oh yeah, HotS is NOT running fine.
I’m no programmer, but I suspect based on the evidence above, that it is less to do with our 'net connections and system setups and far more to do with poor programming of the updates client or server side. Somewhere along the line the game was broken and this saddens me as I have played since Alpha.
What really saddens me as it now comes across that the devs just don’t care because they have known about this issue for a long time and have not resolved it or communicated any understanding/resolution to the issue.
I’m also getting this issue since the latest update, and I live in Canada.
It seems that you can just cancel it, but it’s still annoying.
The problem seems to have gone away. I don’t know if Blizzard has fixed it. If Blizzard hasn’t actually changed anything, I’ll point out that I was getting the problem consistently when I play at my usual time of around 7-8pm New Zealand time. Just now at around 11am-noon, there was no problem. So there’s the possibility that it’s time-based.
I also want to say that I’m sure Blizzard does care about this problem and they do want it fixed, if for nothing else then for their own paycheck. HoTS is free-to-play, they only make money if players are having enough fun to want to spend money. I’m frustrated, too, but the notion that “the devs don’t care” is ridiculous.
