I had same issue, stuck on connecting to server screen, the method i used was to uninstall battle.net(don’t uninstall hots) then u start the hots set up. which forces it to reinstall battle.net. it will then try to install hots. But since you have it. it will find the game files and be ready to play instantly well was for me.
Issue has come back for us this patch. In the past week we’ve been able to just cancel and it has loaded. Switching regions around a couple of times got around the issue today.
This guys worked. Connected to Asia, cancelled streaming, back to America, it downloaded something extra saying “Preparing data” and then loaded flawlessly.

Just wanted to add to this. As above posters, pretty much the same, started the connecting to streaming issue last time and just been clicking cancel but this latest patch has stuffed it even more, cannot even launch the game.
Australia user - QLD - AussieBB ISP - can run trace routes if needed. Going to try the region change option, already tried repair, no luck same issue.

So based on issues last patch and this one and feedback, I am going to tentatively guess that the CURRENT issue seems to be a result of the patch not downloading fully on ANZ, which is probably a complication of the original issue of connecting to streaming server (eg canceling out works to solve the core issues but kills the final patching).
This took me a couple of attempts, but it did work. Thank you!

Changing region isn’t working for me. I’ve now switched back, it now says it’s:
“Downloading 0KB / 54,382 KB (0.0 KB/s)”
and it just does nothing… I will keep it going and see what it does.
BLIZZARD, this bug is a PITA.
edit: It just downloaded it… there is a serious issue with downloading now. But the game has loaded. Will report back if this problem occurs again.

Experiencing the issue permanently for the past 4-5 days now… Haven’t been able to play at all.
Physical location: South East Asia
Connecting to Americas Region.
Tried doing all the self-help tips on this thread, still a no-go…
HotS already have low population, can’t lose more players this way… o_O

because they just don’t deactivate streaming from the game options in the App, I’ve always deactivated it and I’ve never had that problem.
Have you tried changing your DNS server? use googles 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4
Holy hell, and I thought I was the only one. Change to other regions (mine is outside of America/Singapore) or delete cache to renew personal profile help me solve the issue, but I have had to do this like 3 to 4 times a week since Mal’ganis patch.
Also, whenever it occurs, there’s no connection when I ping to SG and AU/NZ server. This problem still affects other Blizz games for me but HOTS has the worse.
Opened a thread like this on Battle net forum many weeks ago, still no reply :(.

I have this issue now as of when I post this message, it won’t start the game, just stuck with a little window saying connecting to streaming server. Tried restarting Bnet and computer, neither seem to be helping
the Scan and repair function didn’t help either.

Same problem here. Clickeing cancel doesnt do anything. Had a lot of problem with blizzard and cannot connect to streming server in the past. Even stop playing wow cuz of this… Anyway, after 5 min the game open itself

Same as above. I had the same issue a month back for a week until is mysteriously disappeared.
It’s appalling how blizzard can not seem to address this situation. I guess I’ll find an other game to play on steam.

Guessing there was a new patch, game won’t launch again. Still can’t get it working on my other PC. This issue is so frustrating. No “just hitting cancel” doesn’t fix it when there are new patches.
Are you trying to kill HOTS blizzard ?
It’s been weeks now and i can’t even log in.
AUS/NZ servers already have a small pool of players, if we have to flip a coin each time to know if we’re allowed to play, servers will be dead soon…
Happening again… Not even work around is working this time…
