CDC #7 - Calling the Gamechangers

Talents are now ready.

Oh, we were supposed to mention if our things talents are ready? Bah. Mine are.

I dare someone claim their idea is stupider.

Is there a specific time to expect our ratings or do they come in at any time?( Dont know what i got yet.)

Sorry everyone, I wonā€™t be able to finish posting the results tonight. Sudden school rescheduling and whatnot severely limited my time. They should all be up tomorrow, so keep an eye out for them!

Iā€™m so sorry for the delay, everyone. I had gotten a good number of my reviews done, but had unfortunately forgotten to space them out a bit, and so burnt out a bit.

I should be here over the next few days to hopefully have a little better time explaining myself and my judgements if needed, and I am sorry if theyā€™re a bit incoherent or anything.

Lastly, I just want to say. Wow. This really is an amazing turnout this time. (^_^)

I honestly forgot there even was a third judge. I thought it was over lol.

Can I get a one day extension pretty please?

Thanks for the feedback, Iā€™ll see what I can come up with for the last week.

Iā€™d like to point out one thing, though: I personally disagree on the way all three judges evaluated how much of a ā€œgame changerā€ an idea is:

On the one hand, all of you said that some ideas (Cammykinsā€™ stances, Deefeā€™s friendly fire, and MrCLFNā€™s custom mercs, for example) either ā€œjust barely fit the contest themeā€ or ā€œare somewhat lackluster as game changersā€.

But on the other hand, you all agree that Pdunzā€™s Spyro and Orphea are great examples of the theme, just because the hero is from a previously unrepresented franchiseā€¦ Is that really a ā€œgame changerā€? It doesnā€™t make any difference in the actual game. Hero still plays the same.

Well, thatā€™s just my opinion, and I donā€™t expect any of you to change your scoring, or anything. Just wanted to express how I see it.

(on a related note, some of the feedback posts mention it would be difficult for other heroes to follow up on the idea, but I feel the examples given by Bliztron have the same issue. Especially Alextrasza)

I donā€™t think thereā€™ll be any extensions, but if you forgot there was a 3rd week itā€™d be a good time to remember that thereā€™s also a 4th week with the final deadline this Saturday! (It might get pushed back due to things being late but I cannot confirm, so better safe than sorry.)

Im just curious, but when are results coming in???

My guess is theres been delayings in three judges showing up at the same time, its the usual issue that occurs since we all have different life schedules and time zones.

Not to mention this CDC had more contestants than any previous one, so it will likely take longer to rate all of them.

Yea very true there sometimes with half a list this size it took us 2 days to clear them all depending on time.

Thatā€™s good to know then.

I ended up missing ths one, I got ambitious with an idea then realized how awful it was gonna be and ended up skipping this one.

My self pity aside I was hoping to ask, are there plans for one of these at some point

The CDC returns every 2 to three months, so it would be either in January or February. I always post an announcement several weeks before the actual contest goes live, so keep a lookout for that. Weā€™d love to have more contestants (even if it does mean the judging gets harder and harder.

An update for everyone else; we have indeed had an absolute ton of pain getting through the judging, especially with WhoYouExpect becoming quite ill recently. Donā€™t lose heart however! We will have it done soon and uploaded. We thank everyone for joining the contest, and hope you all are as excited to see the results as we are to share them!

Judging is done! Forums are weird and I need to post a reply before it lets Bliztron post results.

Thank you everyone for participating in the seventh Concept Design Contest, judged by our two wonderful judges, WhoYouExpect and Nortin. All of the scores have been posted. I realize this theme was hard to accomplish, but Iā€™m so pleased at the large turnout! There were some really great designs in this contest, and all of you should feel proud.

The winner of the fifth CDC is Innocence (Streber), whoā€™s Kazakus, Leader of the Kabal concept delicately created a very interesting and thematic creation that introduces the character with a bang, earning a score of 100/100. The runner-up was Deefeā€™s Bovan, Tauren Spirit Walker. They challenged the traditional design of the spirit walker and made a design that was truly unique. His clever design earned a score of 95/100. Link found here: CDC#7 Bovan Windtotem

And, for honorable designer, VArsovskiSC has been chosen by the judges. Each judge recognized the passion and raw creativity in their design, and their willingness to shake up their design really captured our hearts. Ultimately, we think they need some more time to hone their skills.

Once again I will congratulate each and every contestant; the contest theme forced you all to think hard about the future, but you all proved your designer mettle, and I hope each of you feels like you are better in some way. I hope each and every one of you will join the future contests, and fight once again for the winner of the CDC!
