its a desaster. this company deserves no players at all
i think its a profit move that calculates the costs for servers etc and tries to squeeze some $ in the end while at the same time watch the game die
the sad part for me will be that some players, even though they recognize the change and understand why it is a bad move, will stick to the game, because it has brilliant game design. it is a wonderful game, everyone can see it by the outrage about this management-initiated decision. and i wont do it. i wont play this game anymore. this company has to feel what it does is wrong and that the whole game industry see its downfall and understands that players are no cash-cows, that they have the power to not play a game.

I had a good time in season 1, grinded out gold for the perks, because 4 heroes is literally a must to feel like you have a fair chance at any given game, based on the minions. I can’t believe that the justification for making not spending 20 dollars per “season” of indeterminate length to have a giant competitive advantage is free cosmetic content. I’m pretty sure everyone not spending money in battlegrounds would rather have heroes and no cosmetics. I guess it’s the same quality decision making that drove me away from WoW after it took up most of my life. Same greedy attitude that killed Destiny.
It was a fun single season I guess, I’ll catch yall in the battlegrounds again if they decide to release cool paid content instead of paywalling regular gameplay.

P.S. Blizzard I literally buy the (paid only) TFT pass in League of Legends every season I actively play and it is purely cosmetic.
Enjoy you short term profits at the cost of the long term health of your game. I will personally stop playing hearthstone. Blizzard has destroyed so many of my most favorite games. WOW, WC3 reforged…, and now hearthstone… I have been in denial for far too long. Blizzard died a long time ago. Imagine if activision never bought blizzard… the loss of potential here is just too devastating.
Its sad that blizzard is changing a feature that was always accessible with ingame earnable currency to a real money transaction feature. I have been playing HS since it came out and have been playing BG’s since it came out as well.
Unless they solve or find a compromise a lot of players will just stop playing the game.

So the takeaway from all this is the CEO’s don’t want people playing the BGs for free anymore but they want to remain the ability to market it as f2p. So this is basically a f2p playerbase genocide lol. Ok sure, there’s more to life than just a well-designed autobattler anyways. Good riddance.
Even that is probably favorable for blizzard, their player count / time spent grows, and that’s the kind of numbers shareholders like, as it means even though the conditions are awful, you remains glued enough to perhaps pay later.
I have been playing Hearthstone in one form or another since 2016.
3000 hours on PC… 1000 hours on my phone… I have ENJOYED playing your game for years… Battlegrounds is currently the ONLY reason I open your app daily. That stops with this. Your greed is incredible, you’ve tarnished one of the most beloved gaming companies of all time. You are insufferable. Good bye and good riddance.

I stop playing traditional Heartstone long ago. I felt in love in Battlegrounds and that’s the only reason why I log in game and like many others farming gold just for the BG pass. And I don’t think if I had only 2 heroes as an option I was still going to play BGs. I bough cosmetics before and even recently to find out that all my gold will go to waste and BG will become p2w. So I guess this time I will be done for good with Heartstone. Oh can I get refund on the BG cosmetics? Or that was the only thing keeping you from “starving”?
