I’m probably going to move to the card game in league of legends. It’s pretty similar to Hearthstone. Runeterra is also another option. Best of luck to you now that they’ve made battlegrounds pay-to-win.
Enjoying Battlegrounds until the patch then uninstalling. Will not support a pay-to-win model. The heroes are not (and have never been) perfectly balanced, give everyone 4 choices. This is the last Blizzard game I was still playing.

As for Blizzard - of course they can act like they do now. With the argument “to earn some money” they could even charge 100$ for a single play. No way this would pay off.
It definitely will never pay off to upset the community as a lot of players will leave the game. To regain their trust will be very hard. A strong community is an invaluable asset.
In my opinion this is a bad move for all - for the players as well as for Blizzard.

I have no words for this. Ok you need Money to keep things rolling, but then you sell skins for like 10 to 20€ and limited Starter Packs for every expansion which comes for a price where I can almost buy two games and that every quarter. So you are telling me the game is not selling out so you have to get even more to keep things rolling.

But yeah HS is over for me. I just came back for Castle at Nathria and bought the expansion, but I play BGs also. This is just BS. Stop with the currencies thing. It’s horrendous. HS has been straightforward and worked the way it is for a long time now.
If you wanna do 2 battle passes fine, but please share XP. And sell both at reduced prices compared to the original battle pass. That I would tolerate. Ah and make 4-heroes BG free already for the love of god. Paying 2k gold for that was already bad enough. Imagine paying R E A L M O N E Y bro

We will no longer be able to buy the choice of 4 heroes with gold, Heartstone becomes more and more pay-to-win… It will be time to go and see what other card games offer…

I first began supporting Blizzard stand-alone projects with my money in the mid-90’s. I have enjoyed and appreciated online Blizzard projects with my money since the days of vanilla WOW. I love Hearthstone and the Battlegrounds and have supported their continued development and their bottom line through the purchases of most expansions. I have watched as the game became increasingly monetized and as several of my friends dropped away as the cost to remain competitive became too much for their real-world budgets. And then my years of loyalty and support were rewarded with this Runestone dreck.
“We want Battlegrounds to be played and loved for years to come.” Way to completely miss that mark, as gauged by the 9 likes of this original Blue post.
“Though the ability to choose from among four heroes at the beginning of a match is changing to a paid-only feature, all players can still play Battlegrounds for free.” And that is exactly what I will now be. Congratulations. You just turned a paying customer into a non-paying customer.
“This change will allow us to continue to support and make content for the growing Battlegrounds community.” Yeah, let me know how that’s working out for you.

with how widely the heroes vary in quality, locking the ability to choose between four of them behind a paywall all of a sudden is turning this entire thing pay to win.
Guess I’ll enjoy my last day of battlegrounds. Its a shame, I really enjoyed the game.
I admit I’m a bit slow, so I might (even with all ooopsies your company made lately) get this wrong. The only way to buy +2 heroes in BG now is with real money? I was always fine with dozens of cosmetics stuff, I might have a few myself. But what I made sure every time is that I have enough gold to buy 2 extra slots because that’s a gameplay advantage. I was silent when a lot of people called that P2W because whatewher, I’ll grind those 2000 gold out. Now you say I need to pay for gameplay advantage? I played HS since beta, I am not a great player, I’d call myself a lower mid-player but I enjoyed BG and besides it, I played just 1 more mode seriously. However if this anti-consumer crap is not reversed, good-by and good whaling
