If this goes live in this state I’m not buying any more Blizzard products. The fact that I play a game for years and invest tons of time and money into to just have it killed by pay to win is awful.
I’m either paying for an advantage over other players, which kills the integrity of the game. Or I don’t pay for it, have less fun with the game, and potentially the people beating me are only winning because they paid for an advantage. Which kills the integrity of the game. Either way it completely kills the game for me.
Also, your statement “We’re committed to maintaining hero and gameplay balance so that the choice from four heroes is more about optionality than power.” is also just a flat out lie. You haven’t been able to balance the game in the last 3 years, how are you going to do that now? The choice between 4 and 2 heroes currently accounts for half a palcement on average. It is nowhere near balanced.
Been playing Hearthstone since even before BG, even before you introduced years system. Well, judging by FAQ in this post, it’s pretty much enough for me to quit, pay2win went too far. Now even for Hearthstone, not just for your other games, like it was before
The thing that makes me sad is that adventures will only be available for paid players. So sorry hearthstone, I think I’ll quit your game, pay-to-win is NEVER a solution
So after some thought i have decided to stop playing BGs with a eye towards just not playing Hearthstone. My version of a pre change boycott.
Sorry it has come to this but Blizz is forcing the issue imo. I am a everyday player but i won’t support these changes.
cheers,

I have played half of the listed games, only gwint is very similar, but it is much more expensive and much worse. The rest of the games are either completely different or not very interesting.
There are stupid people here who call the cheapest card game (of those that I know) expensive, it’s VERY annoying. And instead of saying that there is a project that is much more interesting and free, they are WHINING, is this normal?
Don’t write it’s expensive, you’re only humiliating yourself that $5 a month is expensive for you, it’s a shame to read.Write to which project you are leaving, and let’s all leave together in protest, but this project should be better and free.
I put a lot of effort and made sure that this project is the cheapest among all that I reviewed. If someone offers a good alternative, I promise I will drop everything and go there supporting the protest. In the meantime, let’s not whine, but enjoy this game and its cheap content.
Have you tried Googling the term “F2P Games similar to Hearthstone”. It’s a good starting point.
I suggest researching because it’s going to be your best path to find the answers you seek. A good, cheap game that one person likes might be another person’s dislike. Just because others don’t share your view/opinion does not make them stupid.
Again, this is about perspective. Value is dependent on the customer. Don’t shame people because they value their money differently than you do. Some people actually have to actually be responsible and pinch those pennies they normally would not have in the current economic state of this country/world.
This goes back to doing one’s own research for better, more accurate, results. People, like myself, replied with potential options not knowing whether you will like them or not because we are trying to be helpful. We’re not here trying to convince you to go play another game. That choice is something you have to come to and make on your own.
Also, people are not “whining” about anything. They are unsatisfied customers letting a business know about their displeasure with the product and their intentions moving forward.
This is a perfect example of what I’m trying to say. Your personal view is that they are completely different and not very interesting. I think some of them are better and have more breadth/depth. It doesn’t make either of us wrong. We just enjoy things differently.
Personally, I’ve been playing MTG Arena, MTG Online and tabletop for years. I’ve grown all my collections to very large sizes with little out-of-pocket investment. There are Buy/Sell/Trade markets that make it very easy to do.
They could have sold this change so easily by saying they’re giving you everything from the perks for free now, and there’s an extra track for money. Also the “Runestones” thing is just gross and predatory. I think HS actually is very generous in the F2P area, they give away plenty for people who don’t want to spend a dime, but to do something so obviously sketchy as making you buy their currency to first purchase items in game, is just, as I said – gross. The ONLY reason something like that is done is to ensure that your customer is losing money on a purchase at some point, and also devaluing their own dollar. It’s predatory and shameful.
Blizzard ought to be able to turn a buck without resorting to that.
Don’t you know there’s something else than CCG in life ? type “online collectible card game” in Google if you really need to.
Ah. And there’s Marvel Snap coming, made by a real passionate studio, which created HS and must be glad to have left, looking at HS nowadays.
Beyond the players feeling poorly about now having to pay for something they could get previously for free it is a real disservice to the game to lock the competitive advantage behind the paywall. Some people can’t pay it and this in combination with other choices you made will make the game mode worse.
More people will quit because only the top 4 places give experience points. People will quit because they don’t have any good choices and face a tougher time getting to the top four. This changes the game negatively as a play experience. With ghost(s) players the damage cap is gone and players get free turns to power level on, drastically changing the outcome of a match. The game mode is balanced around starting with 8 players. Anything less and the game will become lopsided in someone’s favor.
People won’t stick around to play for 10+ minutes only to get a 5th and earn nothing. It’s not fun, it’s not worth their time.
I propose you don’t lock heroes AND you change how EXP Is doled out.
1st 20 XP
2nd 15 XP
3rd 12 XP
4th 10 XP
5th 7 XP
6th 5 XP
7th 3 XP
8th 0 XP
That way people are not incentivized to quit right off-hand and should anyone do so they still get rewarded nothing. No one will spam games just to lose and gain experience points, making people miserable as they all have things worth fighting for.
The only thing I read is that the game, which is in development then looking for its path, cancelled this feature quickly after it backlashed. Here I am still waiting for any reaction from Blizzard.
to be honest: I feel like a cash cow now. i really like the game and played since release, bought most of thew expansions, which were already quite expensive. With all these new passes and the mini sets, the game feels like a product, which lost it’s goal to satisfy the customer in order to create as much turnover as possible.
The premium Currency makes it even worse.
Battlegrounds felt like a cool addition, especially when bundled in the Pre Order Packs, it was worth it, for me.
Sorry Blizz, but after all these years i’ll turn around and spent my time and money somewhere else, with developers having passion for the games not only for the shareholders. oh what have you become?
