Announcing Battlegrounds Season 2!

I have a better idea, let’s add top 4 immediately for real money.

You guys destroyed BG, you should let buy the four heroes or leave the four heroes for free…
I always played BG because it was fair, but now you guys have implemented P2W I’m going to migrate to TFT.

Is blizzard intent on putting themselves out of business? With the company reputation in feces stained tatters…the solution is to drive more customers off by making on of the few products you havent screwed up basically pay to win. Then on top of that you come out with some garbage about keeping the heros balanced so the limited selection shouldnt matter? Keep your extreme monetization garbage in Diablo Immortal, and leave it out of the games you have actually developed in house.

NEWS FLASH: Heroes are INCREDIBLY UNBALANCED and restricting choices basically makes the game unplayable.

Good for Blizzard, they will make a lot of money out of 50% fewer players! With this greed, I am starting to think maybe I should cool down about Diablo 4, not get my hopes up.

The person making this post doesnt seem to remember you could earn the gold to unlock the perks easily by just playing the game. They are giving people who only play battlegrounds a reason to quit. This is pure paywall when before you had a choice of currency to use. Gold or $$. Thats the difference, the lack of choice and forced monetization.

HAHAHA. very funny. it is actually called Magic of Azeroth.

The cool thing about this patch is that every BG game will now include multiple people who quit immediately because they only get offered 2 of the 50 useless heroes. I’d hate to be someone who pays for BG only to play games with 5, 6, or 7 people in them!

Good luck! You’re gonna need it to beat only people capable of paying to play or win or have a fair chance. I’ll be sitting at 6-10k, quitting 2/3 of my games.

So after a while, and talking to the community, here’s the census. A lot of people will flat out leave the game when this comes live. Some of them even bought for cosmetics in the past, but they refuse to be bullied into spending money not to be at a competitive disavantage.
For the people that chose to stay, some decided, begrudgingly, to pay. And others decided not to. And join games, and if not offered a competitive hero (because 70% of current heroes are hot garbage), they’ll leave the lobby. So I do foresee damage cap being a myth, as you’ll have 2-5 leavers per lobby, until you reach a status where everyone paid for it. If that doesnt say “suck out the fun of the game”, I dont know what does.
Streamers are mostly scared. To speak their mind anything over “yeh this is bad” because they are afraid of being blacklisted by Blizzard. They dont want to be Savjz’d, so to speak. And they’re scared that if everyone walks out of this game, and if their brand is Battlegrounds, they’ll lose a ton of viewers and revenue. So they’re hoping for the best, but expecting the worse.
What I find amusing is that none is surprised of the no reply from Blizzard against this backlash. As it is status quo. It’s saddening.
So, whatever happens after this goes live, remember this is what happens when you have the marketing\financial team making decisions instead of the development team. If your most popular game mode tanks after this, be sure to thank them.

I know it’s late to answer that comment, but I still had to, as it really pains me to hear that, so I really hope you will read my comment.

YOU are exactly the consumer type those companies exploit financially. No wonder you were too impulsive with WoW, the whole gambling business is made around it.

I know it might not be easy to read, but at the very least try to read the abstract and the conclusion : https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/26271807/

This study is from 2016, and you can bet there are other ones more recent. This is known for years, hence why in EU we have some regulations to prevent abusive behaviors.

I really hope you will read more about psychological schemes (past and present) done by gaming industry. Only by understanding it fully you would be able to escape some (yes, not all) of those schemes.

And yes, I say not all, because subconscious is too powerful. Like, you see a price at 4$99, you know in reality it’s 5$ trying to appear as 4$, but even then, your brain will still encrypt the 4$ tag. That’s how well it works, hence why EVERYTHING is always .99, even though everyone knows it’s a scheme.

I am ashamed to play with people who feel sorry for 4 euros a month for their favorite game. But I will ask- which card game should I play so that it is better than this one and is free.

The good old days when you paid once for a game, instead of a subscription…
How much cost this game? Hmm, depends how long you play it…

I would have no issue if the game becomes pay2play, but a subscription-based system is there to milk its user, nothing more, nothing less.
Sure, make me pay 20 bucks (heck, it’s HS, I guess 50bucks minimum) for BG, but that’s it. Instead it’s 5 per month? it means 60bucks per year, just to have temporary rights? welp

Obviously I don’t know the prices, and they most likely will be higher than this, because you know, you don’t pay just for the heros, but for the blingbling!! haha

yes, the game received a non-mandatory subscription of $ 5 per month.I am ready to go to another card game that is better than this one and does not cost $ 5. Please help me find a new game, I will go there.

You could always play cards with friends in person, maybe have a beer.

I’m playing preference with my friends, but we can only do it on Friday.I want to get away from greedy blizzards and ask you to help me find a better card game than this one, the main thing is that there would be no donation in it

M:TG Arena is fun for me. Even if you do spend money on it, it doesn’t feel like a waste.

if I decide to spend money, I will spend it here, I want to go to cards where there is no spending of real money, the main thing is that it would be more interesting than here, otherwise I would rather pay if there is nothing better.

we all used to be better and life and prices and games and companies are not so greedy

I’ve been playing MTG for many years. I only log into Hearthstone to play BG’s with my son when he has time. We also have a large circle of players in our MTG group. We play tabletop and online.
