The people on here complaining about having to spend money to have the option of 4 heroes apparently don’t remember you had to buy battle grounds perks in order to unlock 4 heroes. Only difference is you can’t use your gold that people would save up from tavern pass. They also said the battleground pass is going to stay the same cost as the perks was. They are giving the people who only play battlegrounds the options to earn their own rewards instead of having to also play regular hearthstone. I hardly ever play hearthstone ranked generally always plays BG
It’s not surprising this happening. I was wondering how they were making any money off BGs to support it. I will give it a chance before I go pitchfork on them. As long as they don’t do a Diablo Immortal on this, should be relatively fine.

Playing a battle will still give xp for main reward track, only the exclusive bg quest didn’t.

So i might be wrong here , but if i read it right im not going to be able to buy even individual packs with gold anymore , im really glad i farmed up to 5k gold for the BG perk. They are putting in the BG pass to dnagle the “you can get these skins for only this much cash” it’s more in your face then hidden in the store.
come on Blizz i know it’s corportate forceing this but the backlash from immortal. So now being a F2P player is just gonna get worse well ain’t that great …
Except there’s no way to earn runstones in the game, so now it’s paywall or nada.

It was not that difficult to earn the 2k over the course of an expansion only playing BGs. That’s gone now.
You did NOT read right.
You can still buy packs with gold; you can still toggle to purchase more than one pack at a time with gold.
Nearly everything else (passes, bundles, special offeres) will be in runestones only, which can only be purchased with IRL currencies.
Been playing since beta but once this goes live I think it’s finally time to hit the uninstall button on this game. Blizzard killing another game due to greed.

It is amazing to think years ago when this came out there was some comp sci major saying “cant wait to get hired on with this company and game to monetize it and ruin the entire mode.” Thanks whoever you are you ruined the one game I still enjoyed from your company.
Sigh. It was a long run, since launch, but the pay wall will mean the end of me playing Hearthstone. Over the last few years i have been buying various perks, passes, etc but i will not go down the Runestone money pit well.
Simply if this goes as announced another one quitting the game.

This is ridiculous. I’ve spent over a thousand dollars on this game since 2014 to keep up with the normal game mode in standard, and a few BG perks passes. Why do I have to keep paying? Haven’t I paid enough to play this game?

Yeah. I get people’s frustrations but if I listen to this chatter like I listened to the chatter surrounding the $20 battleground pass, it wouldn’t have taken me several months to try Battlegrounds for the first time. Everyone was saying the new mode was going to cost $20 to play so I didn’t bother to check it out.
Turns out, it didn’t cost anything to play and, now, paying gold is optional. I’m out there hunting achievements with each BG hero so I don’t care if I only have a choice of two heroes. When I end up with a choice between two heroes I already have all achievements for, I just choose the one that’s higher on the current tier list.
I’ll check out the new changes to BG in a week and see what they’re like. I may end up liking some of them or I might not. Still have a bunch of achievements to hunt for.
This brings exactly NOTHING of value to me. I will have to use money to play battlegrounds with the perks and the only thing as rewards in the track are cosmetics? I couldnt care less about portraits animations and whatever junk you’re adding to the game. Can I subsitute it for gold atleast?
Seriously this detracts more than it adds for me

I have played almost everything Blizzard has offered from Lost Vikings to Diablo Immortal. Blizzard if you want to have your little cosmetic tracks different for paid and non-paid customers, go ahead. You want to make a new currency, fine.
DO NOT lock the 2 and 4 choice characters behind a pay wall. Just dont do it. Its too far

Purchasing the Season Pass will also immediately unlock the option to choose from two additional heroes at the start of each game. We’re committed to maintaining hero and gameplay balance so that regardless of which heroes you choose from, you know your chance for the crown is based primarily on player skill.

Therein lies the frustration of a lot of people here. It was a f2p mode you had to play to get benefits. Now, you pay with real money or increase chance to lose to people who do pay.
