New Class Ideas (Come give your new class ideas!)

It’s never too early! Come let’s share some of your ideas for new classes!
Doesn’t have to be any lore attached, just share whatever crazy class idea you’ve got and let Diablo 4 be the definitive ARPG of all time with 50 classes after Blizzard is done with it! :dizzy_face: lol

1) Warlok Class (Barb + Magic)
Front line spell casting specialist (Willpower based Front-line Summoner class), putting chaos and mayhem in the thick of action. Barbarians who dabble in demonic magic are outcasts and shun from their society.

2) Slayer Class (DH + Heavy Melee Weapon)
Quick and agile (Dexterity based Melee DPS class), agile from a distance and dealing massive amounts of damage up close. Demon Hunter Order has grown and now have front line Slayers. Yeah! Cue Demon Slayer Gurenge song! jk jk lol

3) Templar Class (Crusader + Spear/Shield)
Front line buffing and healing specialist (Strength based Melee Buffing class), ability to tackle mid range targets as well. Templar specialists are part of the Holy Military Order of Westmarch. Their morale and courage are one above all.

4) Bard Class (Assassin + Aura)
Lightly armed (Intelligence based Aura Range class) but nonetheless deadly, Hymns (like Aura & Mantra) does aoe buffs & debuffs. One of the unfinished class of Diablo Hellfire. Uncertain how this is gonna work but aura class using Hymns/Song should be nice.

5) Lancer/Eternal (Warrior + Spear/Lance)
Heavy armored, shield and lance/spear specialist (Dexterity based AoE Melee class). Dealing in aoe stuns, knockbacks, knockdowns and aggro. The elite Kehjistani heavy infantry shock troops & Emperor’s guards, the very best in stunning and killing hordes of enemies.

6) Mage (Wizard + Shadow/Death Magic)
Hybrid elemental spell caster (Intelligence base Elemental Summoner class). Likely a glass cannon so would need teleport/blink skills. Mage is usually an enemy class like Lazarus and Zoltun. Would be interesting as a playable class.

7) Marine (Warrior + Flintlock Pistols)
Daredevil heroic class that leaps/swings into battle (Dexterity based Melee Short-range class), using medium range pistols & other armaments to disable and kill enemies. From the Imperial Navy of Kehjistan to Westmarch, Marines are the elites of the naval corps.

8) Pirate (WD + Fire Arms)
You can’t have navies without pirates so here we go! Debuffs, hexs, curses, fear inducing specialist (Intelligence based Curse Range class) with medium range engagement. Unlike the Marines who launch themselves into harms way, Pirates are less courageous and rely on cunning. Their Shadow magic from Witch Doctors assist them on placing hex and curses onto the foes before engaging them.

DireWolf: Knight class spliced with sorcery or magic that is different from Holy Crusaders. Abilities to imbue magic into weapons.

Argos: Amazon Class. Female only class, ride horses, proficient in Archery and Swords.

TheEnd: Sword Saint class using various elemental sword stances that can be switch on the fly to do dps or cc and such. And of course, their resource generator is Qi.

kebstrr: A grenadier/tinkerer class with bombs and turrets and other explosive shenanigans would be something I would really like to see.

Taetew: Id love a new race called the “dhampir” with life drains, high movement (x3 over everyone else) and excels at the use of katanas. Can change into mist or transforms into bats.

Las: Cleric, front line healer, support oriented class.

Fatalcx: Treasure Goblin your sole objective is to stay alive, somehow. lol

Lolli42: The Heretic, summoner class between Angelic and Demonic forces. The Blood Knight, leech and blood specialist class using shield and bones.

Dire: Grandmaster class ( Pugilist class) essentially a powerful martial artist that can use any wep (nearly) but has some class unique weps (such as a Bo or staff).

Zadok: knight/zealot/champion/battlemaster - strength
paladin/cleric/bishop support light/holy type of class willpower
a spear throwing range / maybe shield wearing? like gw1’s paragon? as dex

Bumblebee: Fallen Angel and Demon classes. Fallen Angel could have Holy Powers, and Demon would have dark/shadow powers. They could both be melee with heavy reliance on toughness, with low single target but high aoe. They would be the support classes of the world.

Kick: Mentalist class that uses his mind to make monsters fight for him, and uses telekinesis to throw objects or other monsters around to inflict damage.

xSoulxCoolx: Class similar to that of a Witcher or the anime Claymore, super soldiers by infused with slain demons. Long list of skills and synergies see actual post for more.

dragondyce: Would also love to see a 2nd type of summoning class, some kind of Vampiric class or Vampiric summon class

RaptorBonz: Revamped Witch Doctor, Main Aspects: Poison, Soul (Cold damage), Gristle (Physical Damage)

Druids are barbs whom dabbled in magic and split away from their original people.

I would like some kind of Knight class maybe spliced with sorcery or magic of some kind that is different than the holy crusader.Kinda think Knight/sorcerer from the souls games maybe with abilities to imbue magic into weapons.

Sword saint class, utilizing various elemental sword stances that can be switch on the fly to do dps or cc and such. Fire for aoe dps, Ice for cc, lightning for single dps, ETC… And of-course, their resource generator is KI.

It’s an easy and fun concept. I’m too lazy to flesh it out.

Sword saint sounds like d2din with holy fire, freeze and shock auras tbh. Added elemental damage to attacks. Not to forget the vengeange attack that added all the elements.

A grenadier/tinkerer class with bombs and turrets and other explosive shenanigans would be something I would really like to see.

Am thinking more in the line of the Sekiro game, the attack animation for each skill will be execute according to the selected elemental and sword style such as dual wield or 2-hand as examples. Not to mention there are alot of sword styles out there. Again, am too lazy to give it more depth.

Where as D2, those are just add on effects. Can’t see anything that would be interesting.

skill ring 1 - katana slash or life tap or double movement speed. (each having enchanced and specialty under them)

skill ring 2 - life transfer (give your own life to a team mate) or devourer soul or bite

skill ring 3 - spirit rend dance (jumps from multi targets and drains mana/hps/movement speed/attack power) or decap (does insta kill on normal mobs that have less than 50% hps remaining) or purge (removes negative effects on self or team mates)

Cleric.
Read the DnD guides.

Healing or harm, medic or a war cleric.
Holy healer, divine damage dealer. Potato peeler, demon sealer - whatever the team needs.

PS. With D4 making party content more of a reality, we would need to start looking at support-oriented classes so that slower players, gentle players, or support lovers can be drawn to activities with D4.

Id love to see a wicken or shaman added if cleric is too generic and not diablo enough :slight_smile: but ya if you see the suggestion i made above has skills identified as group/team skills. If they want to this to be a MMO style, they need to have some form of buff/healer team mates

Cleric is the OG. You can run around in white robes and blessed auras, or tuck your book of wrathful incantations under your chainmail, your 2H hammer in hand like a warrior priest from the Warhammer universe. Basically a healing paladin with more power budget in incantations than martial skill, but can still hold their own.

It’s a mistake to keep thinking of Diablo as a “solo” game. The first support-focused class will most likely be the OG, cleric. I know the original Blizzard have moved on, but there still are those that respect the tone of this world. We’ve spent over a quarter of a century in this IP providing DnD classes, and nothing too exotic except for Witch Doctor (rather have Nordic shaman over that abomination).

  4. I could see a sound based class being interesting.
  5. Pass. Sounds like mostly a support.
  6. Pass. Basically a sorceress with more summons.
  7. Pass. Number 8 sounds much better.
  8. I actually really like the idea of a pirate. Not your idea of hexes for some reason, but rather just the idea of a pirate. But I can’t think of how to make them fit aesthetically.

Personally I’d like a witch, spiritualist, or the witch doctor to return.

Yeah but Druids shun traditional magic and only practice natural magic.
The Warlok should be one who doesn’t have such boundaries and magic are just means to an end, the end where the Warlok is victorious regardless of whatever magic that was used.

I heard ya, Cleric is the real OG front line self buff, healer class.
But I’m not sold on the idea how this class can play on its own, there are still players who play solo and want to experience the class on its own.

Isn’t the Warlock troupe those that make a contract with a familiar and draw on power from them?
Evil wizard with a split personality, of sorts.
BTW; Wizard.
I would like a Wizard class to be differentiated from Sorcerer.
How?
Well Wizard’s are set apart from Sorcerers by having to study magic- the old greybeards with pointy hats and robes.
So how you do it, is you take inspiration from Dota Invoker, you have incantations that will be a “code” make of 3 or more elements you have to string together. Leylines to enhance abilities, like Black Mage in FF14, curses and blessings that have strange ingredients you have to collect and mix into Wizard-unique class elixirs.

Along with Cleric, you will then have something for everyone- those that like a high skill floor, those that like gentle support. Sorc can be your standard issue caster nuker. Wizard does weird stuff like suspend his entire party in the air to avoid boss mechanics, or transfer damage a player receives and cast it onto the boss.
The Wizard is the exotic sorc with an intellectual twist.

No matter what class you pick, they have their strengths and weaknesses but they can all clear all content solo.
Just, we have no classes that can do the kind of party support (optional) that you can expect from Cleric.
I predict that should the healing&harm Cleric be introduced to Diablo it would be a huge favourite. Suddenly you will see all those backseat players have a home

loot goblin, your sole objective is to stay alive, somehow.

this character does not aggro npcs, he has an invisibility spell that can only be activated while not engaged in combat with pcs, and it only lasts 5 minutes.

Haha, could be a new game mode down the line. Like Predator 1v5 players. Or Hunter mode in Crysis 3.
Only, reverse predator, you are a treasure goblin trying to run away from 4 players wanting dat booty.
Anyways, PvP arena modes before frivolity

Master class (or Grandmaster class); essentially a powerful martial artist that can use any wep (nearly) but has some class unique weps (such as a Bo or staff). Similar to the monk. Many of the new classes presented are similar to some former class.

Don’t really need too many exotic new classes. I hope they go with some type of holy class and some type of martial artist class. This would be perfect IMO. Keep whatever feels like it belongs in Diablo.
