Addressing the 10 Elephants in the Room 🐘

A multipronged approach needs to happen for Diablo 4 to approach trading, deal with exploits, and solve other nagging issues.

Here Is my list of 10 things that need to happen right now in D4:

1) Trading mirrors D3 version. This is the fairest way to do trading. Items earned while in a party can be traded to members of that party for a period of time. I suggest 3-6 hours.

2) Duriel and other bosses that drop uber uniques gain a timer This occurs when completed but they have their rewards increased as well. These bosses should not have been designed to be infinitely farmable. A timer of 18 hours to 1 day would work.

3) Streamers are not above the EULA. PPL are skeptical if streamers that abuse and exploit will get punished like others because in the past they have not. Send a strong message here that it will not be tolerated.

4) Punishments made extremely severe. If you knowingly take part in exploiting, duping, ect you get an IP ban. Make it as hard as possible for these scummy players from every playing the game again. No more just license ban or whatever. Make them have to get a VPN ect to play again.

5) Loot for season mechanic dialed back. Look I am all for lots of loot but the season is over the top. Way too much stuff is dropping. You can infinitely farm the season with enough players at the three 50 cost pedestals.

6) Forgotten Soul cost or drop rate adjusted. These are a total pain when you first get in tier 4. I think we could either have helltides run 24/7 just like the loot pinata blood harvest or have item rerolls of item power 825 or less require 1 soul instead of 2.

7) Items comparisons QoL improved. Game now gives items 1 to 3 green up arrows and 1 to 3 red down arrows based on what you are using now. This is based on item power, average rolls in the affix ranges, if it has 3 to 5 affixes (5 is coming Im sure of it), and if it has a gem slot or not. This would require tons of work but would help players quite a bit. Even better if the game can somehow identify your build and adjust accordingly. We have AI now make it happen! This system would obviously not be full proof but it would help so much.

8) All materials are bound. Helps prevent ppl from selling parts for real money.

9) Drop Tiers cleaned up more. Im still getting oodles of sacred items on tier 4 and got oodles of normals on tier 3. WE need to get this cleaned up for all items even legendaries. I shouldnt see sacreds on tier 4 and I shouldnt see normies on tier 3.

10) Run a Public Test Realm. This would help catch so many horrible things leaking into the season. Perhaps they would have found the ball lightning 3000% bug or the dupe bug that rekt season 2. Players would love to play on this and help the game. Also make reporting things easier and a dev only area for key things like reporting a dupe/exploit that you dont want to see . Give this area a 5X XP rate and its only for season. At season end on the PTR, your items and characters here are deleted as they are just for testing. You could also just give players that are proven feedback contributors VIP PTR status. These players have god mode. You can spawn items, level instantly to 100, create enemies, make yourself immune, ect. All the tools a good and proven tester would need.

Honorable Mentions:

A) Completely change cellars. Make these much more rare and hard to find and give them meaning so when you do find one you get excited. Maybe an extreme monster density and guaranteed goblin.

B) Make goblins have identities / colors. Why dont we have obal goblins? Goblins that open to vault? Goblins that drop materials?

C) Make season mechanic last longer. You could easily finish the entire blood quest and have all powers LV 3 in a week or two even as casual. I think we need more scope here and a longer series of quests and rewards and general fun. Way too short.

D) Cosmetic go on sale on a rotation. This would drive up purchases on sale days and provide some relief to the 25$ per skin costs. Its a digital asset with basically 0 overhead. You can afford to sell this and throw the players a bone with a cheaper price here and there. It would pay for itself so easily as players chosen skin goes on sale and they dont want to miss it.

Thought my fellow forum goers?

I’m good with 1,6,7,9, and 10.

Dialing back loot seems like an odd choice when that is what is making the season fun, and anyhow seasonal events are just that seasonal. We have only a few months to build a character why make it a chore?

Let people fight the new bosses as much as they like, they farmed the materials, why put another gate in front of them. Once the duping problem is solved this will sort itself out, there isn’t a need for another punitive step.

Don’t care about 3 or 4. And trading mats is just fine as long as we don’t have an infinite supply. If someone really wants to spend all their time hoarding them so they can make a profit, no skin off my back.

Timer on duriel to have even less stuff to do? This game lacks content and you would time-gate more of it… golly.

Probably drop item trade windows to roughly 120 minutes. EsO has a 60 min window on trades from trials/ dungeons to group before binding, sometimes it’s not doable due to back to back runs

Amount of loot dropping not really a problem. Problem is there is NO loot dropping outside of the new bosses.
Why run 100 nms for 834 gear when even the varshan fight drops 900+ every time?
Is good to have other things to do. But the hardest content should have the best loot. And a NM 100 about 20 times harder than duriel.

Agree, I can’t believe they have 925 fixed drops from world bosses. I myself am only farming world bosses.

Liking for the Helltide suggestion.
I work nights and effectively as a nanny to my sister’s kids in the morning, leaving me with maybe 2 hours total during weekdays (non-consecutively) and definitely no time to farm a Helltide for any decent amount of time, if it’s even up at all. I can farm it up on the weekend, but I’d prefer that time to test stuff and grind NMDs to get a backlog of aspects for upgrades, and uniques for experimenting.
I spent the past two days trying to catch a world boss before work just to end up having to go AFK just around the time one would’ve spawned, and they’re practically deleted from our reality on WT4 if you’re not in the zone within 10 seconds of the boss fight starting, on a related note.

This is another way the dupes and cheats hurt others if they dont realize it. If these cheaters are on when a boss spawns then their absolute uber unique god power killing boss before you get there does affect you!

i agree with most of your points, as usual.

except for
#2: if it can be ensured summoning materials are gotten in a legit way, i dont see a need for a timer really. its ok if people want to grind 8 hours a day.

#4: while im extremely with you on the ban per say as you know, its ok if people want to redeem themselves. Furthermore, its a source of income, so i doubt thatll ever be a thing to do for blizzard anyway.

The rest is absolutely desirable to me <3

And what does cheaters and dupers have to do with that? I am sure there are a few that are responsible but most of us downing that boss in under 30 seconds did not cheat.

Half of these are just bad ideas or don’t matter much atm. Really aren’t the main issues.

Why? I swear, they’ve made the game almost worth playing again, and you want to dial that back? Seriously? The more loot the better, that’s the entire point of the game. If anything they need to make it rain loot everywhere like the season activity. Who cares if players can trade mats, how does that affect you again? There’s no leader boards so why does it matter if someone can kill the Uber boss 1000 times a day if they want? How does that in any way make the game unfun for you? I just don’t understand these kinds of posts. The game needs to be more like D3 and it’s finally going in that direction thankfully. That’s the only way they’re going to save this game because nobody wants to take weeks leveling and gearing 1 character which sounds like what you want.

I think the season mechanic is over the top on loot. We can disagree. No need to get  !

There needs to be accountability for cheating or leaderboards will be a joke anyway when implemented.

It’s more about integrity relative to the spirit of the game.

But I generally agree that what other people do shouldn’t really affect your personal play as long as you are abiding by the rules and don’t compromise yourself/account.

diablo 2 did quite well. lol. so yea, please no more d3 directions here lol

  • Trade should just be open. The downside of having people use RMT is very thoroughly outweighed by the amount of socialization created by having trade.
  • Monster Hunter doesn’t arbitrarily time gate me, just balance the drops. I refuse to continue playing this game if it turns into a gatcha game for loot.
  • Depends on the bug or exploit, if they are willfully abusing it sure give them an escalating punishment. I would prefer if they just fixed the billion dollar title over punishing people tempted to make progress in a 3 month window where it doesn’t matter on the next season start anyways.
  • Once again, I would prefer Blizzard accept responsibility for the game being bunk with bugs. And once again, seasons last 3 months. If we don’t even have leaderboards yet, slap on the wrist fix the actual problem.
  • Sure, balance drops so that the grind becomes worse? IDK man these games are about getting on for 2 weeks to a month and playing the next season. D2R is the only diablo with longevity and that is only because of trade and holy grail.
  • I don’t want to be told what is best for me or the meta build of the season. Rather they just make loot more meaningful. Once again, D2R has a loot system that makes even magic, rare, and white, items valuable.
  • Removing trade to prevent other people from cheating themselves out of the grind is stupid. Especially when it will just turn into getting carried instead.
  • Yeah fix the seasonal bug sure why not.
  • They don’t want to do this because it kills the lifespan of the season by having the meta pre-established before launch. They do all of this in house and yes it needs to improve but I also don’t want a 2 week before launch play this screen clearing build or don’t play maxroll guide.

not entirely true. d2 also has meta builds, as pretty much every game does.
the only blue item that could be quite nice in d2 were gloves if i remember correctly? Tho it was like incredibly rare youd see that drop.

simple solution, dont let anyone tell you whats best for you. i have a feeling people rely way too much on guides ^^

More than a few of these changes would just kill the game for many.

#1 Fine change but items should still be tradeable as they are currently. So this way you can still trade legendaries, uniques, etc between the party, but also trade rares in general.

#2 This would kill the endgame for many. There are currently 2 things to do at Endgame. 1) Push high tier NM dungeons (mindnumbing & boring) 2) Farm Ubers. Effectively killing #2 would mean the only thing left to do is one of the most boring activities in the entire game.

#4 Never going to happen. They’re not going to mass perma-ban people when the game has been on the brink of death for months.

#5 Dial back loot when the loot & itemization is already terrible? Sounds like a great way to send people back to games with good loot & itemization like PoE or LE. There is one thing keeping people play8ing this game & that’s the combat. People will deal with crappy loot for a little while just to experience that. The moment you make the mediocre loot harder to get, say bye to the playerbase.

#6 Simplest change is to make forgotten souls drop from other places. Their logic that “we disincentivized people from playing Helltides” was silly. People weren’t playing Helltides because the activity isn’t fun. It’s literally that simple, but in typical Blizzard fashion they just have to complicate a simple issue.

#8 Who cares if people RMT for materials? I could see if it had a competitive advantage, but the game doesn’t have anything competitive currently.

#10 Yes.

If loot rained down the entire game in all content, I assure you, majority will quit. I know you’re a big casual player based off what you typed, but that’s how you kill D4. There needs to be a good amount of chase items that are hard to obtain.

For someone who’s just started Tier IV many sacred items are still upgrades. Seems like a bad idea to remove them unless you’re advocating for more ancestral drops to make up for it. That said, I don’t know why we’re getting white and blue quality sacred OR ancestral drops in Tier IV. Does anyone actually use them? Keep the yellow sacreds, get rid of the whites and blues.
