That’s an insensitive comment OP, shadowlands is the afterlife of WoW so…you can see why that came off as bad.
I understand that but that’s not the issue here. He actually got a response from a GM and it wasn’t over turned. The issue is why the GM said it would be overturned.
Either way, I am finally out of here. Before I get myself into the a gray area and a forum moderator becomes offended.
Well, if there are more of them than there are of you, you lose.
Don’t provoke them. Figure out how the system works rather than come to the forum to whine about it. It isn’t that hard.
There are plenty of avenues for free expression that aren’t a managed corporate experience like WoW.
Ha ha ha… You can get silenced for anything now? I haven’t been in the forums for about a year and people are still say now? I guess not much has changed here in GD. It is nice to hear that players are still doing events like this memorial though.
i think people just misunderstood the op and reported. being misunderstood isnt going to get a silence over turned though
Ya do know there are a group of people out there who will just report every little thing you do even if you did not offend them right?
Yeah, I’ve never been silenced either. I’m not always particularly chatty, but I do take part in just about every chat possible if I desire. Even when I joke around I’ve never been silenced.
People just have to know where the line is and…well, not cross it or otherwise just watch what you say and when. Not much different from real life, honestly.
That’s not to say that this system can’t be abused, because it certainly can. But I’ve never personally seen it. I’m of the mind that 99% of the time if someone is silenced then they probably did something to make it happen whether it was intentional or not.
This isn’t morally or intellectually defensible because there is no measure of how many people explicitly approve or don’t care at all (and further believe that punishment would be excessive).
I think this is what good people refer to as “the silent majority.”
Yeah… I don’t understand what was so wrong about what was said.
Either that’s not really what happened and something was left out of the OP or I’m just as insensitive for thinking a popular player would enjoy playing the game he was made popular for.
Maybe it was said at the wrong time, and the game was brought into a conversation about his real life? People might have thought that’s all he was good for?
If you know this group exists and you still play the game and provoke them, that’s sort of on you, isn’t it?
I’m seeing a pattern here of who is siding with OP here. Each one is coming off as an awful person themselves.
You can think me awful if you will. But the OP literally said nothing wrong. Everyone jumped the gun and abused a bad system that imo should not exist.
i dont like the system myself, its lazy and has definitely been abused.
So thing about those reports is. One thing might be what triggers the auto penalty but if you said anything at all within a rather long period of time you could get dinged for that instead.
That is to say the reporting offense isn’t always what you get punished for.
While true, Blizzard needs to learn from Square Enix’s FF14. In that game you CAN get suspended/banned for false reports on someone and they do look into it. Their game is as big as WoW now yet they manage to still check reports and punish abusers of the system.
Pretty sure some people need to mature and understand that, Not every word is meant to harm you
Well clearly its because you have horns right
How would you tell the difference between a false report, and someone who was just super sensitive?
lol we all know that’s not going to happen.
it would detract from the fun story which they want people to believe.
regardless, even if what we’re being told is true (which i have doubts about) the OP is on MG, and was attending an RP event.
…we all know that attempting to disrupt RP on a RP server is a no no.
The in game chat isn’t a free expression venue, though. It is a corporate product.
If you can’t tell the difference, well. I suspect you’ll be mad about this “injustice” for some time.
The game has a profanity filter the soft can use it and live in that bubble.
