WoW Pay to Win situation

The Anti-Yaboi Hivemind is awake! Flee mortals for their hunger knows no bounds!

Iā€™ve played since end of Vanilla and quit at the end of MoP, back then it was unheard of to see many players with over 100k gold at all times, of course you had your big handful of players that ran the AH and had tons of G, but your average player wasnā€™t able to attain that.

These BoEs that are 1 mil plus, most average players are not going to buy those. Do you realize that even the Bronto, at 5 mil, is close to $1k in tokens? So these BoEs that are 1-5 mil G, itā€™s not P2W, because your average player will never be able to afford them.

And how is one slot P2W? Even 2 slots, it is not going to make them right away do 60k DPS or delete you in seconds in PvP. Youā€™re telling me that the average WoW player base, is spending thousands of dollars on tokens, to buy BoEs? Thatā€™s just not realistic.

hahaha, naaaahā€¦thereā€™s no pay 2 win in wow at ALL!

Correct. There is nothing pay to win in wow. Unless thereā€™s a secret weapon on the cash store Iā€™m not aware of that can only be bought with premium currency?

Thereā€™s plenty of pay 2 win going on right now, wtf are you guys talking about. As long as thereā€™s a token cash shop in game and if people arenā€™t getting banned for doing gold carries, thereā€™s a pay 2 win feature.

That is not what pay to win means. This is RMT.

No thatā€™s essentially pay 2 win.

Its blizz fanboys dont even bother trying to discuss.

Pay to win is when you can obtain something from a cash store that cannot be obtained through normal gameplay and is objectively better than any gear in the game.

Yea, buying a wow token and then using the gold from said token to buy carries is paying 2 win. As long as WoW doesnā€™t ban the carries for gold, itā€™s paying 2 win. Itā€™s literally a win win for both parties. And youā€™re whole idea about just being from a cash shop is wrong. Thereā€™s other ways to pay 2 win.

But what are they winning? They donā€™t get Gladiator with Heroic gear. With only a few BoEs buyable, and that would cost thousands of real dollars, itā€™s ridiculous to think that anything more than a tiny percentage of a fraction of the playerbase is doing that.

You really think so many people are paying hundreds of dollars to buy tokens to get gear? A token is 100k atm, itā€™s $200 for 1 mil gold. Itā€™s just not realistic that itā€™s P2W.

I donā€™t have the data to show how many people are doing it. Not that, that matters. As long as a token is there for people to get with actual real money, pay 2 win is here. I already explained it above, if you can understand that I donā€™t know what to say to you.

But thatā€™s what you are not understanding, if the price of the gear was attainable by a majority of the playerbase, I could agree with you. But for BoEs that cost millions, there really canā€™t be that many people just spending hundreds or thousands on tokens, especially not with the economy the way it is atm.

If high iLvl gear was 40-50k each and tokens still gave 100k, sure, because whatā€™s a $20 bill here and there for people, but to think people are paying hundreds of dollars for gear is just silly.

You also didnā€™t answer what they win. They donā€™t automatically get Gladiator, they donā€™t automatically know how to play their class, they donā€™t automatically do 60k DPS. So what do they win?

Yet another reason to stay out of retail.

As LONG as WoW TOKEN EXIST, pay 2 win is here. How hard is this to understand? Why are you fighting this? Youā€™re legit paying for gold. Itā€™s straight up paying to win.

The actual definition of pay to win is about buying gear from a cash shop that cannot be obtained through normal gameplay. Your issue is RMT, people buying gold with real money to gain an ā€œadvantageā€ is your issue.

Paying 2 win, is using real money ie cash, to buy something in game to give you an edge over other. This can be anything, it could be an expensive enchant, it could be anything. Buying more mounts to have more achievements, etc. Why are you argueing against something that is blatently there?

That cannot be obtained through normal, non paying gameplay.

Thatā€™s just one definition of paying 2 win buddy, nice try though.

So what about the AH runners that have G cap on multiple characters? Is that P2W because they can buy any BoE and carry?
