WoW isn't P2W

This is a good point. People kind of get off on destroying shared meaning these days. Mostly just to help them feel like they’ve won an argument but overall it just isn’t helpful.

For the better part, when someone says something along the lines of “it depends upon how you define X” you can be fairly certain they’re just trying to play language games to dance around an argument.

level 60 too 70 boos in 1 hour 2000 gold per level . buy the gold pay us… it is in every major full realm every 1 min advertised load an clear in trade chat an in services chat /4 and /2 . guilds have become companies an botts advertise , the game has become p2w
and Microsoftblizzardactivison bill gates loves it .

Yes it’s p2w, not the dirtiest form of P2W I’ve seen but it definitely is.

Let’s say you have no gold and you’re a low rated PvP player, you can buy gold then pay for a carry service which will unlock the possibility for you to upgrade your gear to a certain ilvl that you couldn’t reach on your own.

Same thing applies to Raid carries, it’s giving you better gear options in your vault.

Same thing applies to BoEs, it’s a direct access to end-game gear.

I know it has become cliche to ask this but how exactly do you ‘win’ WoW?

You can’t in the traditional sense, however obtaining the best gear or items (Mythic), or ranking (Gladiator) is considered winning, at least for that season.

World of Warcraft is P2W while it is not P2W at the same time.

Let ChatGPT explain:

"Now, the topic of whether WoW is pay to win has been debated more than the superiority of pineapple on pizza. Some players say it is, while others say it isn’t. So, let’s delve deeper into this subject, shall we?

On the one hand, there are in-game purchases that players can make to give themselves an advantage. For example, players can buy tokens with real money and trade them for in-game gold. With this gold, players can buy items that can give them an edge, such as better equipment or materials to craft powerful items. But is this pay to win? That depends on how you define “winning.”

On the other hand, there are plenty of players who have never spent a dime on WoW and are still able to succeed in the game. They’ve honed their skills, learned the ins and outs of the game mechanics, and know how to play smart. So, maybe it’s not about how much money you have, but how well you can play.

Furthermore, some argue that WoW isn’t pay to win, but rather pay to save time. By purchasing certain items or services, players can save themselves time that would otherwise be spent grinding or farming for in-game currency. This can give them more time to focus on other aspects of the game, such as raiding or questing.

Ultimately, whether WoW is pay to win or not depends on your perspective. It’s true that you can gain certain advantages through in-game purchases, but it’s also true that these advantages aren’t insurmountable. With skill, strategy, and a little bit of luck, any player can succeed in WoW.

In conclusion, the debate on whether WoW is pay to win is a contentious one. However, one thing is for sure: nothing beats the satisfaction of finally defeating a tough boss or completing a difficult quest, regardless of how you got there. So, grab your armor, stock up on potions, and get ready to kick some in-game butt!"

There are zero games where you pay money and it rolls to end credits, that’s not what P2W means.

Nope, the OED dictionary alone has been updated 4 times a year, since before you were born. Language evolves and changes, always has.

Yeah, that is why every country that has a respectable law requires any demand to bear a “concept” section defining what you mean for any “ample meaning term”.

And that might be the reason the TL;DR generation has a hard time reading the ToS to find out WoW IS PAY TO WIN by its own TOS.

Change a dictionary to reflect the language of a comunity, not what ONE PERSON thing.

It is very hard for you guys to understand the difference of community and individual.

And then you ask why we who are “otherwise sided in the World” make so many jokes about you.

Here comes a good one:

In an reunion of the United Nations, the African representative which was leading the talk started his discourse:

“The human race is in peril for there are many violations of Human Rights. And that happens when the rest of the World turn its back and worry about markets and petty freedoms.”

Some leaders pressed the button of point of order.

The other african leaders asked who did he meant by human race.
The chinese and the russian leader asked what he meant by human rights.
The Serbian leader asked what he meant by markets and petty freedoms.

The US leader who never pressed the button and spoke in high voice over everyone demanded to know what he meant by rest of the World.

This is exactly right. We all have different definitions of what “pay to win” means.

I don’t disagree with you.

Honestly, I wish the tokens weren’t a thing, but I understand why they are.

Ever since the WoW token came out it has become P2W in some ways. Granted you could always buy gold but this is Blizzard sanctioned P2W.

I see P2W as being able to spend real money in order to progress and obtain gear.

Join a guild and get a core group to run mythics and you will win, as long as you learn your mechanics.

Get carried and those that carried you just got paid and are the winners. The person that was carried still sucks and is not a winner.

To me this game is not P2W.

I just don’t consider getting close to bis “winning” it’s really just a stepping stone.
