I have a new idea for a collection feature in World of Warcraft, similar to mounts and pets, but this one would be called Azeroth-monium (or something similarly cool).
The idea is to collect NPCs just like pets, and then take them on random dungeon runs where they can level up. The NPCs would start at level 1, and when you sign up for a dungeon run through Azeroth-monium, you’ll bring along your NPC and join a group of 4 other players, each with their own NPC.
The NPCs can level up to a maximum of 30, and you can get any random dungeon prior to the current expansion. Each completed dungeon run will increase the NPC’s level by 1.
But here’s where it gets really exciting: each level earned grants a talent point unique to that character. For instance, one of the Lich King’s talent could be that every enemy that dies is resurrected as a ghoul and fights on your side until it dies again. One of Anduin’s talent could be a passive ability that fully heals a group member upon their death, triggering an explosion that heals all nearby players for 30% of their health (once every 5 minutes).
When an NPC reaches levels 10, 20, and 30, the player will receive 5,000, 10,000, and 15,000 gold, respectively. In addition, each dungeon boss will drop an anima orb that will temporarily boost the player’s power. Each end boss also has a 1% chance to drop a rare item, such as a pet, mount, BoE, or something else cool. And a successful dungeon run will also reward players with a bag of gold, consumables, and other neat items.
At the start of the feature, each player will receive 10 free NPCs at level 1 to get them started. These NPCs will have few attacks and abilities because they are level 1 - for example, Varian will be a tank with strong attacks, charge, and taunts, while Vol’Jin will be a DPS who can also place serpent and healing totems. Velen will be a healer with weak attacks but powerful single-target and AoE heals. They get more abilities when leveled up.
The first 10 NPC’s are:
Varian, Graumähne, Tyrande, Velen, Muradin, Thrall, Vol’Jin, Sylvanas, Cairne und Lorthemar.
However, each character is not bound to a specific role and can create hybrid builds through their talents. So, a pre-defined tank character could potentially become a healer.
To unlock additional NPCs, players must meet certain conditions. For example, to unlock the Lich King NPC, you must defeat him in a raid with a 1% chance of obtaining him as a drop. Some NPCs can be unlocked through battlegrounds, such as Vandar Stormpike or Drek’thar, with a 1% chance drop rate. Other NPCs require achievements, such as Akama, who is obtained by completing all quests in Outland and earning revered reputation with all factions in Outland, if possible. Gazlowe can be unlocked at max level Engineering, while Nomi can be unlocked at max level Cooking.
And when you finally get that Hogger NPC, you’ll know it was all worth it.
With so many options to collect NPCs, players will have a great adventure to explore and will always find new ways to complete dungeons in different compositions with their powerful NPCs. Once an NPC reaches level 30, you can increase the difficulty of the dungeons and potentially unlock secret, unique rewards. It’s going to be an epic journey, full of humor and fun!
So, come on! Let’s gather up our Azeroth-monium NPCs and take on some dungeons. Who knows, maybe we’ll even unlock some secret rewards. Just watch out for Hogger - he’s a bit of a wild card."
