Witch and Witchdoctor Classes

you know what they say about assumptions

also who is the elemental lord of decay/spirit? we have fire/rag, neptune/water, thundarian/wind and therazane/earth

Ok, so here’s a non-assumption:

All WC3 Witch Doctor spells were brought to Shamans slightly modified, being “Totems” instead of Wards.

Sentry Ward became Sentry Totem.

Healing Ward became the Healing Totems.

And Stasis Trap Ward is the Capacitor Totem.

Meanwhile, Shamans also have the Voodoo Totem, Voodoo being one of the two types of Magic used by Witch Doctors.

Lorewise, Witch Doctors are known for their Hexes.

Hex is a Shaman spell.

Nope. Already have those in game.

They gave those abilities to shaman.

DKs get 1 Undead Pet. Hunters just got 109809381091832890319080182 lol

Necro would just be rehashed demolock with bloodlust.

Only possible workable is dark ranger. Summons skeletons with ranged attacks for 1 tree, absolute CC and shadow damage for second.

Tinker is engineer
alchemist is -alchemy
Witchdoctor- shaman
Siren-only naga

If they just copied over the Witch Doctor class from Diablo 3 that would work.

Every class in this game is inspired by Warcraft 3.

If a Class wasn’t in Warcraft 3. Don’t bet on it being added.

Tinkers are the most likely.

Engineering doesn’t give you The Tinker abilities from Warcraft 3 though.
So that’s pretty obviously not the case.
You know you could figure this out for yourself if you use this neat website called Google

It used too, engi got pruned a lot. I suggest playing with it in classic.

Only reason i say dark ranger would work is rangers where Silvermoon. Void elves and Blood elves would make sense lore wise to get it while in the afterlife.

Uh… It didn’t have the Tinker abilities in Vanilla either bro.
Even if you were right. Which you aren’t, it still wouldn’t be in Modern WoW.

You see. All of “Dark Rangers” Abilities from Warcraft 3 are already in WoW.

All of “Tinkers” abilities from Warcraft 3 are not already in WoW.

Simple easy logic.

  • Witch Doctors focus on manipulating spiritual forces, particularly the spirits of the dead. They often summon mystical creatures, use hexes and curses, and rely on Wards and voodoo magic to control their environment and enemies.
  • Shamans are more focused on communing with the elements, channeling their power for healing, protection, and offense. Shamans believe in maintaining balance with nature and the elements, and they use elemental magic to summon storms, fire, and healing energies.

Cultural and Racial Background:

  • Witch Doctors are primarily associated with the Troll race, particularly the Darkspear Trolls and other troll tribes. Their practices are deeply tied to ancient, voodoo-like rituals, which involve summoning spirits, invoking curses, and using the power of the dead and Loa.

  • Lore Example: Vol’jin, the former leader of the Darkspear Trolls, was a renowned Shadow Hunter/Witch Doctor, and his power was tied to the Loa of the spirits, especially the Loa of Death, Bwonsamdi. Witch Doctors typically rely on these connections to guide their magical abilities and craft rituals, rather than relying on the elements. Juju and Arcane sources are also important to Witch Doctors. Juju (or Ju-Ju) is an object created from a life force or spiritual energy known as E’ko, which contains a power source. The witch doctor Mau’ari has the ability to extract juju from E’ko, a form of unfocused supernatural power. Bom’bay, a witch doctor apprentice, described the mucus of crabs and the venom of scorpions as forms of juju. There is also a big focus on Alchemy and awakening the spirits of the ingredients that go into his goods.

  • Shamans, on the other hand, are a more widespread spiritual practice found among several races in World of Warcraft, including the Orcs, Dwarves, Tauren, and others. Shamans follow a spiritual path of balance with the elements of earth, fire, water, and air, often working to maintain harmony between the physical world and the elemental planes.
Lore Example: The Shamanic Rituals of the Orcs and Tauren focus on maintaining balance between the elemental spirits and the physical world. The Orcs, under the guidance of the spirit of Shaman Ner’zhul (before his fall into corruption), learned to call upon the elements for power, with the Tauren learning their ways from the Earth Mother. Shamans, such as Thrall, have been able to call upon the spirits of fire and water to heal or to summon mighty storms of wind and rain, demonstrating their direct connection to the elemental forces.

Most of this seems like a bias you hold.

I am all for a Witch Doctor class! I have a thread on it. Check it out. I have designed some spells for it also. I want to hear what you think Nâtalie.

witch? would’nt that just be a mage? or a warlock?

and witchdoctor… isn’t that just a shaman?

Witch is a Necro in PoE2.

Seems you’re practicing here 1st.

A Warlock is the male equivalent of a Witch yes. Both originally used to describe a practitioner of Demonic black arts in Europe.

Witch Doctor would be cool. It was my favorite class in D3. Just give it poison and shadow damage and make it a ranged/magic hybrid, with a spec that focuses on summons.

In World of Warcraft, Witches and Warlocks might both deal with dark, mysterious magic, but there are some key differences in their themes, abilities, and overall gameplay.

  1. Magic Source:
  • Witches typically draw their powers from spirits, nature, and ancient Loa (gods or spirits in troll lore). They tap into voodoo magic, calling upon spirits, hexing enemies, and using potions and curses to manipulate the forces around them.
  • Warlocks, on the other hand, make pacts with demonic entities from the Twisting Nether. They harness fel magic and summon demons to do their bidding, using destructive, fire-based magic, curses, and corruption.
