Why is buying gold not bannable?

The rot is inside.

Ironically, today’s Classic player base looks a lot like Retail player base with it’s love of immediate self-satisfaction. They are willing to have their identity as a WoW player utterly reduced to a number on a spreadsheet - and they’re willing to pay for it to get it quickly. To each their own.

However, Blizzard is ultimately to blame for not policing bots and the subsequent gold-buying and feeding the bot-farm/gold-buying cancer on Classic WoW. This affects the rest of the player base who doesn’t buy gold in a caustic way.

Blizzard and a significant pay-to-win portion of the player base don’t care if the patient dies because the corpse will be tossed in the graveyard and replaced with Cata Classic. They know bots kill the game. They know current Classic WoW is terminal.

This is explains why Hardcore is more popular than ever. Many players realize the current pay-to-win, bot-infested game to end up with a 99 parse is empty and ultimately unfulfilling. Classic Wrath is cheapened by pay to win - like cheap fast food.

As long as the Blizzard and the pay-to-win players can together harvest as much as profit and parses they can from the host, they will continue to buy from the bots and pay to win in GDKPs.

Just buy gold on a website then put someone else’s name on it… ultimate troll that Blizzard likes to ban people from.

It has been 15 years, and Blizzard STILL fails to recognize bots. If you or I see a bot in the wild we can TELL due to their movement; why can’t blizz?

Good question, given that Blizzard has partnered with IBM Watson and Google Deep Mind AI projects on Starcraft and Overwatch in the past.

But apparently, the group of players named “Gekslac”, “Vklaoek”, “Ikdaldk”, “KIlska” and “Kilskc” in Blackrock Spire 24/7 every day are legitimate human players in Blizzard’s view and impossible to detect as bots.

So boomer definition, over 30?

Lol. Seriously? This is why they will never give a second thought to stop gdkp. I made 20 k easily the first month of wrath. I dont understand how you people struggle to earm gold. 20k so he must be cheating. Lmao.

Again if you read my post, I clearly stated this was in vanilla classic, where obtaining 20k gold was alot more time consuming and difficult.

Sorry. Yes i did think u meant now. In wotlk. I struggled in vanilla classic and dont know how ppl were even able to afford flasks. Not that they were needed but i know ppl were usimg them.

I would like to go back to vanilla and trynsome stuff that ive learned but i dont know how ppl made that kind of gold.

Problem with banning people buying gold is that gold is so cheap now, you could hate somoene and have 15k gold sent to them for peanuts and they get banned for it via the automated system. Perfect way to get someone banned and secure their ranking on the arena ladder or similar. Then Blizzard would have to waste resources investigating the ban.

July 2022, toward the end of BC. However your point relies on gold buyers being caught doing it.

Bro.

Read the post.

I’ll be honest, I bought gold during SoM to get my epic mount so I could farm herbs faster for potions each week for raids and soon got my account suspended for I think like 2-3 weeks. Mount was removed. It sucked since I missed a few weeks of being able to heal in my guild that I was having a blast in doing classic raids for the first time. I even tried to get blizzard to shorten it promising I would never do it again and they were nice but said unfortunately no can do. Never bought gold since lol, I don’t want to risk it leading to getting the account banned at some point as I put in waaaay to many years into my characters at this point from classic to wrath. Learning how to get gold farms going at this point lol so I’ll be better prepared for SoM 2 and getting my epic mount faster.

People saying that the suspensions/bans come in waves are correct from what I researched about this and heard from others getting their accounts slapped too. Others said it could be the method you got gold too that triggered you being flagged. I’m too dumb about this all and just trying to stay out of any trouble going forward

With the knowledge of the game, the ability to farm dailies (25 per day), you can EASILY make 600-800g a day just doing that.

No need to buy gold to get gear/mounts etc

Got a 2 week suspension myself. Not 3 days anymore

Who wants to do 25 dailies a day?

they do ban people for gold buying, you just pay $15 a month to send it to a burner account, put it in a Gbank ( Gbanks withdraws and deposites are not tracked) get on your main account, pull the money out, and boom clean money. cant get a ban for pulling money out of your own Gbank.

I was suspended for buying gold for 2 weeks, with a warning that next time could be banned so yes it does happen

You definitely can be banned for buying gold. But in reality, gold buying has been a thing since vanilla WoW.

I think it depends on how much gold you’re buying, the frequency, will give you a higher or lower chance of being caught.

If you are caught, chances are the first time offenders might receive a warning or maybe a short term suspension.

Why would blizzard want to permanently ban accounts that are paying monthly sun?

Sure gold sellers don’t care because they have multiple accounts and will make another one.

The average player would probably quit WoW completely if they were perma banned (losing everything I imagine would do it for me)

They probably did a cost analysis that compares multiple strategies and determined this was optimal.
