Wrath Of The Bot King

Remember, everytime you see a bot farming gold that means there’s an actual player buying gold.

Do something, Blizzard.

I once reported my guild leader for advertising in discord (provided screen shots in the email) for selling gold for real money. To my knowledge nothing happened to him. He is still playing to this day.

They need actual GMs to action against bots. And actual customer service to action tickets. They have neither. This game is a shadow of what it used to be. But it’s stil fun, even as a shadow.

you should see the bots still running on SoM for the last 3 months 24/7 just wait till all that gold get’s moved over to wrath severs.

? Blizzard allows botting. What’s the point of this post?

It’s already there (and Classic Era servers).

Honest question, OP: why would Blizz do anything about this?

Can’t tell if these questions are facetious or cynical but probably cynical if I had to guess.

Why? Because Blizzard stated bots are illegal in their own End User License Agreement.

You agree that you will not, in whole or in part or under any circumstances, do the following: […] 1. bots; i.e. any code and/or software, not expressly authorized by Blizzard, that allows the automated control of a Game, or any other feature of the Platform, e.g. the automated control of a character in a Game;

This reason is necessary and sufficient.

You’re being naive. $15 is $15. There is zero reason for them to do anything about bots. Anyone still playing is going to play no matter what. You think they’re gonna hire GMs? LOL. How are those month long tickets going.

It’s not cynical; it’s the reality. Blizz does not care about the quality of their game. They don’t care about customer support. Integrity means nothing. Especially in Classic where a huge percentage of the players are bots. Why would they deliberately drive away so many paying customers?

Bots aren’t going anywhere. Accept it.

Dang. Why does it gotta be him to bring it to the table. Love him or hate him, hes damn good at breaking it down.
And for once, I feel WillE downplayed the severity of this. It really is thrown in one face so blatantly at those levels. Hard to play devils advocate against it.

Mostly responding to play devil’s advocate, but how do you know Blizz didn’t look into it and found no evidence of wrongdoing?

I’ve reported numerous things in game and have never received any sort of “thanks for reporting x person. We actioned them with x consequences. Keep up the good work fellow player throwing your GM under the bus!”

Now, if you had purchased some gold from him for irl money with receipts of the transaction … you might have more firm ground to stand on. You may also be joining him in his vacation too though.

No win situation there unless he’s moving large sums at a time.

A few thousand here and there can be easily explained fairly easily … especially with GDKP being so popular.

Hell, I made 15k on a GDKP as a carry tank.

Botting will never die, blizz allows dks on fresh accounts and it only takes them 3-4 days to make ROI. Im in a few bot discords to learn their game/how to beat it, they dont care how oblivious their botted char looks/is named. They make more than their roi even with the weekly bans on tuesdays. Yes thats right botters know when the bans are coming. Its a set in place system. perma ban an account nbd. they make 3 more subs in the month and still profit. BLizz is trying to sell their company why would they actually enforce it when a average botter has 20-50 accounts, and remakes them 4 times a month.

BLizz rigged the game in their favor to sell, even /who black temple theres no way dks can solo BT already. odds are they are fly hacking too now or just running in there with 10 dks/automated scripting. /who the bot zones after a tuesday and youll see the diff. no point in bans if they know when to move the gold I mean for gods sake put 1 employee on the job fulltime with how small the population is and they can end there possiblity of roi and start their own token for pay to play. Why dont they? Subs are valued higher

while speaking of gold they dont track and trace any guild bank transactions and according to the channels im in as long as u gbank it ur good. Mules that sell only get 2 week suspensions. The system is literally designed to punish/interrupt roi of a botter for another sub.

Just buy that gold and buy those boosties

Rules are just suggestions if not enforced.

here is the reality check.

they are paid subs. unless they working some retail clients to token it…the are actually fully paid subs. not even the fun game/debate are token subs free gaming as someone did pay $20 (so $5 more than base 15).

or they could be working the discord channels to get retail for classic gold. then the trash retail level 1 tokens it.

and they are MAU’s. as we have many threads on my server is dead…there are the big 5 going we are good.

some bots don’t name chars…

zxcv-grobb
xcvb-grobb
cvbn-grobb
vbnm-grobb

other fun facts is the bots use how pvp works to stay under the wire.

Players can be 0 damage…and be in the fight. and not afk.

the place, AV. I get that dreaded gate up start. I came in late as people left/dropped. I by some miracle make it to IBT not meeting the enemy. As i hate waiting for the eventual death on north defence.

galve is dead, archers on ibt are dead. No damage here.

I see they left 3 people to defend. I personally like 4/5 up in here.

so I stay. No back cap by horde.

Drek is dead before I am at the gate of frostwolf.

Voila…0 points damage, 0 points healz. and there the whole time.

even in retail they have not fixed /afk reporting.

in retail this is also used to get rid of people you don’t like in chat.

In retail when I have been afk kicked as I tell some dude going “I am 2400 rated” that I’d rather have the guy who carried them to 2400 right now…that kick happened.

top 5 damage, literally in mid rotation (pressing many buttons) and kicked to load screen.

so afk can’t even check to see if you pressed a button in the past 10 seconds lol.

It was more than one instance of him posting in discord. They all became threads with responses of people saying they would buy some.
It happened several times over course of a month at least, before I quit guild.
Also in voice discord several times they would discuss there is nothing wrong with buying gold but they did not discuss transactions during those times.
So a bunch of circumstantial evidence, I felt it was worth reporting. You’re right I don’t know if Blizzard looked into it, and if they did what they found. All I know is as far as I can tell nothing happened and they never wrote me …which I understand I think they do that.
As out in the open they were about it, whatever method they have of looking at character actions to determine gold buying…he definitely would have shown up as violating, if he did it.

So I reported it, and left it to Blizzard. but don’t have much expectation that they did anything.
I think it’s naive to say a large portion of the GDKP money is not from purchased gold. It may not be direct, it may be gold someone else bought, then used in a GDKP, you got part of that share, then later you use it to buy something. Still bought gold. “Dirty money”

The problem with saying something is illegal is that its only ACTUALLY illegal if you enforce the statement that it is by taking actions against it.

Blizzard does not. Thus, much like jaywalking, double parking or murder, its only illegal if you are unlucky enough to get noticed and caught.

Cheating is normalized behavior in our society now & even lauded as the go-to path for wealth/power, so it stands to reason that the WoW game world wouldn’t be any different. 40-50 years of trickle-down sociopathy will do that.
