Why do night elves shun their troll heritage?

Medivh wasn’t mind controlled. He was influenced by Sargaras from a young age. Many of his decisions were his own, especially if we want to consider the Movie or Medan universe as canon. I understand the Movie is noncanon or an AU or whatever. But as far as I can tell, Medan is still canon, so Medivh did have a Love Interest on Dreanor with Garona.

So while he was influenced by Sargaras, he was manipulated by Saragaras, he wasn’t mind controlled, and he had his own reasons and ambitions for opening the Dark Portal. It is not unlike the same thing Azshara did.

But really, the big take away here is this. You have people who misuse their magical power for evil reasons. But it is only mages and wielders of the Arcane, who are lured by the promises of power and arcane might, and will suffer a fall from grace because of that lure.

There is a reason for this. The Arcane and Fel are the only forces that have no moral associated with them. Powers over life and death come with a moral of preserving the Balance. So you have the Emerald Nightmare, and the Druids of the flame abandoning their morals in the pursuit of something else. Same with Dark Shamanism, the Holy Light, perhaps even the Void to some degree.

But with the Arcane… The only moral is the pursuit and acquisition of knowledge. It is completely self serving. So while there have been bad druids, shaman and priests, I cannot say it is because of their magic. I can say, however, that the problems created by arcane wielders have been done without any abandonment of morals or virtue that the Arcane necessitates.

Kel’thuzzard, Illidan, Kael’thas, even Medivh, committed their evil deeds because of the Arcane’s promise of individual might, and that service to the ego is what corrupts people.

Only one where you kill Harpies. This one.

Unless you think Blaithe is a Harpy.

Thisalee Crow is lower ranking than Skylord Omnuron, and the Skylord didn’t ask you to kill Harpies. Thisalee just racist against Harpies and is just looking for an excuse to kill them, even it undermines her superiors, as made explicit in her text.

“Skylord Omnuron has been too gentle with the Wormwing harpies. He allows them to share a perch on this mountain just because they’re creatures of the air. Well , not all creatures of the air are created equal.”

“When the attacks on Hyjal began, the Wormwing went into a frenzy. They’re up there right now, assaulting a sacred shrine they once claimed to revere.”

“I’m not troubled. Now we have a reason to drive them from Hyjal, don’t we?”

Also, so people know how you're trying to weasel out of your original claim of, "Several times we have been asked to slaughter entire groups of those races for XYZ reasons, by the ancients themselves."

Sure, narrow it down to harpies. But how about all the others I said? Ignore them? Thought so.

Thistalee Crow is a druid of the Talon who honors and venerates Aviana. But she is racist against harpies? Alright… That’s the laziest argument I have ever heard and not even worth the time.

She was defending the Shrine of Avivana from frenzied Harpies. Don’t turn this into something it’s not because you are salty.

Because if you can’t even support the Harpy claim, and refuse to acknowledge as much despite being given multiple chances to do so. How can we go on to the others? I mean you’re meme-posting and talking about people being salty and butthurt for cripes’ sakes!

And yeah Thisalee Crow is racist against Harpies. She sees the the situation as an opportunity to remove the Harpies that she thought were lesser. Now she just has a cover.

Now we have a reason to drive them from Hyjal, don’t we?”-Thisalee Crow.

You’ll have to take it up with Blood Elf fans then. Or Budd Nedrek fans, too, I guess, if there are any?

If your concern is the narrative, you’ll need to take that up with Blizzard, and your posts here will be about as effective as Elesana’s were.

I can and I have.

Its not meme posting. I am just proving you wrong.

They were threating the shrine of Aviana… The Wild God responsible for her Druidic abilities as a Druid of the Talon, and the God she worships, and who’s shrine she is sworn to protect. You are delusional.

I do take it up with Blood Elf fans. Or anyone who brings it up.

And really, comparing me to Elesana? That’s a low blow, even for you.

When asked for examples of quests where , “Several times we have been asked to slaughter entire groups of those races for XYZ reasons, by the ancients themselves.”, you could only reference one.

This one.

Which is not the ancients themselves, but a racist Night Elf Druid undermining a Skylord because she thinks Harpies are lesser beings and she finally has an excuse to drive them out.

Now we have a reason to drive them from Hyjal, don’t we?” -Thisalee Crow.

And because you don’t have any other arguments, you’re busting out the “salty” and “butthurt” accusations. Just waiting for :smirk: and for you to start calling me “hon” or “sweetie.” You know, the kinds of things people always do when they know their argument stands on its own merits.

You’re not actually having a conversation with anyone. What Blood Elf fans are in here besides the OP who went off rambling about land use to justify the Trial of Tears? This is not the kind of person who is going to listen to anything you’re actually typing out. And you’re not going to change the Troll narrative by posting about it as much as you do here.

I compare you to Elesana because you all you’re doing yelling into the void here when no one here has any influence over the narrative.

Several, you are only mentioned one.

And I have refuted your claim that Crow is a racist several times now. You can keep just saying the same thing over and over… But it wont change the truth. Be butthurt. Be Salty.

I’m saaailing!

There was Zahirwrite for a moment there too. And the poster going on about Trail of Tears stuff was using a Nightborne avatar.

The actual number of “Blood Elf Fans” I’ve engaged is kind of hard to gauge really. Heck, from some perspectives, I could be pegged as a Blood Elf fan. This RP character is practically in love with Blood Elf fashion/food/culture. I very much enjoy Troll stuff too. Yet I post on a Goblin.

But that’s beside the point because my goal is not actually to change the the mind of Blizzard, or even the person I’m replying to. There’s way more Blood Elf fans who’re lurking in this thread, taking in the arguments, and nodding/shaking their heads. Hopefully some of them are learning something or thinking in ways they never did before.

So no, my goal is not ultimately to change your mind, or Zahirwrite’s mind, or Akiyass’ mind, or Blizzard’s mind. It’s to continue the discussion so that people who’re looking can get some perspective.

Because we and our discussions can and do influence how we all consume and critique our media. Even if we’re not aware of it or won’t admit it.

You haven’t. I’ve linked the only one that includes killing Harpies here. And it does not support your claim that “Several times we have been asked to slaughter entire groups of those races for XYZ reasons, by the ancients themselves.”

Also, that you can read…

“Skylord Omnuron has been too gentle with the Wormwing harpies. He allows them to share a perch on this mountain just because they’re creatures of the air. Well , not all creatures of the air are created equal.”

“When the attacks on Hyjal began, the Wormwing went into a frenzy. They’re up there right now, assaulting a sacred shrine they once claimed to revere.”

“I’m not troubled. Now we have a reason to drive them from Hyjal, don’t we?” -Thisalee Crow.

And not come to the conclusion that she is blatantly prejudiced against Harpies and thinks them lesser beings is at this point being willfully ignorant. And I’ll keep posting it because the language is pretty obvious and you know that, which is why you edit it out of every one of your replies. Because you don’t want people to actually see it.

It’s also the reason you haven’t posted any actual links either. You’re desperately avoiding anything that people can read that isn’t your own words. You want to rob things of their full context. As if you might be contradicted somehow.

Given your back and forth with Akiyass not going anywhere, I would be astonished if there is anyone still reading anything in this thread.

Case in point, I’m moving on from here myself.

Indeed it isn’t. I’m making the same points, and Akiyass simply edits them out of their replies, requiring me to repost them. Akiyass correctly guesses that most people only read the last could dozen posts, and they correctly assume that if my links and responses won’t show up anywhere, the only thing most people will have to go on is their snippy responses.

It’s a very common tactic of people on the internet message boards who want to hide the fact they had no argument. Bury the links, any detailed explanations, any long nuanced posts, and anything with context under a pile of short quippy posts so nobody can see it. The same tactics as repeating, “U mad? Mad bro? Why you mad bro?” in a conversation to drown out the actual arguments without actually posting anything of substance.

Which is why I just have the relevant links, quotes, and other references that show Akiyass is wrong and has no actual arguments over here in a pasebin. And Akiyass has… well they can keep saying they’re right, or that something exists. and still not be able to produce a single link/reference to support their claim.

We’ll post at each other again sometime!

Also, so people know how Akiyass is trying to weasel out of their original claim of, "Several times we have been asked to slaughter entire groups of those races for XYZ reasons, by the ancients themselves."

Two things, the elves needed a source of magic, it was equivalent to food or water to them, it wasn’t greed it was necessity. Secondly, some highborne suggested they conquer the humans for their land, Dath’Remar refused in chronicle, showing they did not come there with the intentions of conquest, just survival.

Manifest Destiny, so disgusting, I take it you revoked your citizenship, gave your worldly possessions to the native Americans, and have left the North American continent, otherwise you’re just hypocrite who’s virtue signaling.

I suppose they could’ve stayed in Tirisfal, but then the Quel’dorei would already be looking a lot more like modern Void Elves than they were by the time of the first war. Considering the nature of the power in Tirisfal and what we find under.

That would have been greed. Rather, the High Elves chose to settle troll lands, though unaware of it’s relevance to the them at that point. While not necessarily greedy, it probably takes some form of arrogance to chase after the arcane instead of simply making a place for their own.

That’s fair, no one can claim the highborne aren’t arrogant, however they weren’t outright malevolent in this situation.
