Given that the basis for this decision is predicated on the larger crowd quitting the entire game, I’d say you’re wrong. Supposedly this “solution” is meant to alleviate the pressure of an onslaught of retail tourists that will eventually quit - but they’re the only ones who won’t mind this junk
I don’t see where he says it will cater (in any form) for tourists. All he says he they just wont mind it.
Do you think the majority of players care about there being an option for higher quality water? Do you think the majority of players would care if sharding was in the game for 1 minute? You’ve threatened to never, ever play Classic if it is.
I think the vast majority of those who desire a truer Classic experience and who have, for over a decade, been requesting that truer Classic experience care very much if sharding is used for even a minute.
I think the retail players and retail tourists…
He does mention benefiting tourists, but he does not mention how layering will cater towards tourists. Just another “Tourists won’t care about layering”
You best believe blizzard will cater to casuals and tourists, it’s the only demographic they’ve catered to for the last 10 years.
Literally nothing about layering.
If they know and truly care about what whose who have been requesting for over a decade that Blizzard give us a chance to return to the roots of WoW, warts and all, then we will not see the game cancer that is sharding in classic.
What has those of us that desire a truer classic experience are concerned is that Blizzard seems to want to cater to those “tourists” they expect to quit at the expense of those who have, for so long, advocated a return to the roots of WoW.
Try going back and read…
I don’t see where he says layering will cater towards tourists. He some-what says it but doesn’t really ever explain it.
That is coming from direct copy/pastes from my invitations for those betas. It is what Blizzard sent out. Unless you’re saying my e-mails on Gmail have been hacked and edited by somebody else?
I’ve already copied it twice into this forum in the past day, I can copy paste again if you want?
Edit: Why not do so a third time?
*snipped*
I don’t remember my emails ever saying that, but it is still a different thing from this requirement.
Those emails say “You have been invited! If your sub i…
He was talking about the beta. Not layering.
Classic is going to be a streamlined, watered down vanilla with every convenience they can get away without starting a riot. This isnt a "authentic experience" its because they thought they could make alot of money from retails dwindling playerbase, not classic players. Look what blizzard did to diablo, you think they care?
Where does it mention Layering?
Subs started to decline around the time that cross realm dungeon finder was introduced. I’m pretty sure that was closer to 2010 during WotLK
Well, that’s who it’s accommodating. If your mind is set on playing for months, are 1 hour queues for a few days really going to drive you away? Of course not - but if you’re just there to check the game out, then queues certainly would. Layering lets those people have their quick fun
He says accommodates which is not the same as catering.
well, if they care for the community or world-authenticity aspects of vanilla wow (which i’m sure they would if they know why people want vanilla wow), i can’t imagine them liking or being excited for that aspect of it, even if they do appear to like a stabler launch aspect of it, because i feel it without a doubt takes away from that core design philosophy that they implemented in 2004, inherent to the artistic qualities of the game
i don’t feel it is an elegant solution, nor it’s effects enti…
Not reading that one because he does’t break up his sentences. One sentence was the size of a paragraph.
Yeah pretty much.
Would you rather have a rough start and queues to play when the game releases!?
Yes, actually. Rough starts are an accepted part of new mmo servers. Going out of your way to fix something by adding something else that is 1000 times worse is stupid. Did you know it is possible to “prove” in a lab that rat poison has anti carcinogenic properties? Amazing right? Unfortunately its poison so you shouldnt be gobbling it down like a deranged goblin unquestioningly in an effort to…
Not gonna read an essay just to try to find the actual spot he mentions where Layering caters towards tourist.
You are exactly the tourist that this bloody layering is catering to. At least now you won’t have to ‘bore’ yourself with Classic in August.
The ONLY one that says layering caters towards tourists.
