Water Strider Discussion

o.O

They were right. It is character specific, not mount specific. As well as not being account wide like you incorrectly claimed. You should be feeling silly.

Since the bardings I can make still work, the goblin gliders still work, and water walking potions still work, I see no point in the mount equipment. I can get 1 mount do do everything it offers with out equipeing any equipment. So The only thing I can think of for adding in this “equipment” is to gate it with pathfinder later. It adds nothing to the game that is not already available.

So taking away the striders ability and adding in this equipment is only for taking it away in the future. Thanks Blizzard for taking a rep reward away that I put in the time and work to earn. What’s next? So I don’t waste my time getting it.

And Why push Reputation grinding on us for one thing, Flying, and turn around and take a rep reward away.

Yep, I expect next expansion for us to have nothing, no anti daze or bardings, no water walking or potions, no parachute equipment or goblin gliders until at least 9.2 with we finally earn pathfinder.

You forgot [light-step hoofplates] which gives anyone else the mounted speed buff that DK, pairs and mag’har have.

It only costs your soul. Errr, I mean your water striders “soles”.

And the new forum users enter the fray.

But those won’t work in next expansion’s zones; they’re BfA zones only. And with the mount equipment, they have no reason to add new consumables to the next expansion. So when 9.0 hits, we’ll all be down to one equipment ability and no way around it.

I won’t be at all surprised if ww potions and goblin gliders also get a nerf then, assuming they make it to 9.0 and don’t get stealth “fixed” before then.

I expect this to happen, we will be lucky to see anything resembling mount equipment before 9.2. And then get Flying in 9.3 with pathfinder part 3, 18 months into next expansion

“When we looked at the data, we weren’t quite happy with how mount equipment worked out, so we’re removing it from game while we make some changes.”

Said changes are never implemented and eventually the outrage dies off as yet more players leave the game. Blizzard devs dust off their hands and say, “See? Nobody really cared about their transportation options, anyway.”

We said this would happen. It fell on deaf ears.

Take comfort in being right.

Hello, waterwalking Brutosaur. How immersive, when my water strider cannot stride water out of the box.

This change is another missed opportunity for Blizzard.

First miss was when they yanked all the portals from Legion Dalaran, and relocated them to Stormwind/Orgrimmar, with a whole redesigned portal room. I say it was a missed opportunity because they could have added a quest chain to that change in order to unlock them, and attached some lore to the whole thing. I would have enjoyed that quite a bit, TBH. Example: “Sorry hero, these portals appear to be malfunctioning. Can you help us figure out why?” … etc.

This is another miss because the mount was just … poof … changed. These types of “poofs” should be done with story/lore and attached quests.

Gotta nitpick, when they yanked the portals from legion dalaran, it was far from “all” that got relocated:

  • successfully relocated: Exodar/Silvermoon
  • successfully relocated: Shattrath
  • deleted: Ironforge/Thunder Bluff
  • deleted: Darnassus/UC (well, obviously)
  • deleted: Dalaran Crater
  • deleted: Karazhan
  • deleted: Wymrest Temple
  • nerfed: Vale of Eternal Blossoms - now goes to MoP starter area instead. Yuck.
  • relocated (finally): Caverns of Time (only took ?4? months!)

Absofragginglootly. Major “Acts of Dev” that change the world without even a shred of lore/story/explanation in-world is just lazy, sloppy and unprofessional.

It’s cool that the CoT portal in Org is in a whole new portal room though. Gives me hope that we might get some more…some day…(not holding my breath, though).

It seems likely to me that they’ll add 1 portal per faction per continent (EK/Kalimdor) or xpac (the current xpac at the time it seems like there might be more, temporarily). It’s not enough imo, esp. EK/Kalimdor (at the very least, wtb dalaran crater and karazhan portals), but regardless there will be probably be a new portal every couple of years.

I put the water walking BACK on my warlock mount, since that is where I originally had water walking before I was robbed of my effort and had it unceremoniously stripped from that mount before this debacle. I think it is frustrating that I was forced to farm the rep to get the water strider to replace a utility that was already being serviced; only to have the utility stripped yet again. So does Blizzard owe every warlock who had water walking on their dread steed a water walking token.

Stolen utility and effort does not go unnoticed… Once you stick the knife in it is kind of hard to undo that without leaving a scar.

The excuse is, “We did it for reasons!” But the excuse is a testament to the failure at implementation.

I’m waiting for flying equiped seahorses and WoW’s transformation into a fantasy J-MMORPG will be complete.

Only this time they can just point to Classic for people who are tired of pointless changes.

And it’ll work!

Here you go!

Budding Deepcoral
Item Level 120

Use: Feed the blooming coral buds to your underwater mounts, allowing them to be used in Nazjatar.
“Deepcoral is filled with a gas that is lighter than air and a favorite of underwater species around Azeroth.”

Yeah I guess I would be mirroring a lot of other people’s opinions make the water strider like the the Sky Golem, it still water walks but doesn’t benefit from other mount equipment…I don’t know why Blizzard wouldn’t be consistent there (am I surprised they aren’t no, but I don’t know why they wouldn’t be)

MAKE WATERSTRIDER GREAT AGAIN

I ONLY use my strider now. No matter where I am, or what terrain I am navigating…for spite. And when I see another player on their’s, I whisper “are you riding your strider for spite?”, and they always say yes.
