Water Strider Discussion

It’s quite possible that some people have just quit.

Myself, I’ve mostly given up on the forums.

I have the crimson strider and not the blue one. If I want to purchase additional water walking equipment, do I buy them from Nat Pagle in my garrison? That’s where I got the mount and I don’t have the rep with the anglers. I’m sure I’ll find out after the patch is live but does anyone know?

I believe you need anglers rep like with the azure(blue) one. There is nothing for the red.

I had gotten both so I’m lucky.

ok thanks - guess I’m never taking off water walking. LOL

No, there are now multiple threads about the strider. This one was locked for 14 days so others were started.

Some of us have not given up!

Well, they will realize really fast when they jump into the water with their strider without the shoes on. lol

or he who continues to test the loyalty of customers is bound to eventually go out of business.

I would assume that they made arrangements for those who farmed the garrision mount. It doesn’t seem fair that those people would be left out. (crossing my fingers for you)

It was not something that players wanted to be removed from the game. It was the developers… Thanks for making the game less fun to play!

Actually, I’m not going to complain about this. Is it frustrating to have a reward that I spent what felt (at the time) like a heartbreaking amount of time achieving essentially taken away and given to everyone else? yup. But that got me to thinking about some things that could be positives if they keep going in this direction:

  1. I’m currently grinding for the vial of the sands recipe. What about just adding a token that allows you to turn into any mount instead of riding it, and then another player can ride you? I mean, currently we can only carry another player while flying as the sandstone drake, and having any other flying mount than the sandstone drake would be a “wrong mount” for questing with a friend and all…

  2. And what about mounts that you can no longer get in game at all? I mean, there were some mounts that came out before I even started playing! Certainly, it wouldn’t hurt the people who got the mount back then in any way if you just let me buy a spectral tiger for a couple of gold from a vendor in Orgrimmar, right? I mean, that’s basically one of the arguments for nerfing the water strider and adding the token, so…

  3. I can console myself that this won’t really effect me when I’m leveling a character. Since the heirloom nerf, I had already given up on leveling other characters anyway. Dodged that one!

  4. I guess I really have no room to complain about any difficult or tedious content while trying to get a reward. I can just wait and it’ll be given to me later anyway. I mean, I kinda learned that with artifact power (which is why I basically don’t really grind for azurite, if it comes, it comes and I basically ignore it otherwise).

  5. Really, though. I can just make a bunch of water walking potions and chug one when I want to ride my water strider on the surface of the water, no matter what other mount token I have, so it would be silly to complain. Then again, there was always that option with any other mount in the past, so I guess the argument that people were stuck only riding the water strider over water doesn’t hold up either? I mean, it’s not like I should be worried that blizzard would remove that alchemy recipe in order to force people to use the water walking token instead of a different one…unless I’m not so lucky after all…

  6. I mean, that is a good point that there is only ONE mount (two if you count red and blue variants) that allows you to to travel over the surface of water, and it’s boring to be stuck with only “two” mounts. If it weren’t for the other ways of water walking while mounted, we would be stuck with just those two. I guess another solution, though, would be to make other mounts have the ability to move over the surface of the water? Maybe something like a mount that is actually a boat? Nah, on second thought, that’s silly. Boats aren’t buoyant enough to float, I’ve tried it.

  7. Now that I think about it, the AH market for water walking elixirs is going to be HOT! I mean, if all you have to do is drink a potion (that can be drank at level 35 no less) and get the ability that this token gives, then I guess the token can just be ignored altogether! Note to self…rush to corner that market, I’m sure to make a mint!

So you see, guys, it’s really not so bad. Just stop putting in effort to get a reward (it will be given to you later for little or nothing), buy or make a bunch of water walking elixirs (and use as needed, at least until it’s nerfed), load in any other mount token that you like, never level another character (most of us have too many alts anyway), and enjoy the flood of timely content! Besides, I’m sure they’ll put in another innate water walking mount soon enough, and I’m guessing you can own it for a tiny little transaction, so small you might call it micro…

Homogenization is ruining WOW.

Why does everything have to be the same so as to not upset Timmy !?

This “equipment” won’t work in the next xpac.

The only reason to make the WATER strider just like every other mount (except the sky golem-can’t make the herb pickers mad) is to eventually get water walking out of the game.

There was no other reason to take away something that tons of people spent the time and gold to get.

Developers are trying to convince you this is so wonderful and better. I say BS. There is an ulterior motive.

I want my strider’s passive back with no equipment slot.

everybody gets a trophy.

this was done so blizzard can eventually remove water walking thereby slowing the game. Gotta get those hours played numbers up to report to the investors

Don’t blame little Timmy. He’s just Blizzard’s excuse for nerfing a mount that allowed players to decrease their travel time via shortcuts. Just like they nerfed flying, just like they removed portals.

Travel is fun, engaging content and you will do it at pace Blizzard sets for you, or else.

Glad to see the thread come alive again.
I will not equip my boots. My water strider would be like the videos of the dogs with the booties on.
I won’t do that to my strider.

I’m just here to pile on say that this was a boneheaded move. I spent a lot of time grinding just to get my water strider for the utility of it and now Blizz went full Oprah and giving it away to everyone like they’re tic tacs. I can see mount equipment to give any mount flying or a swim speed bonus. This is just stupid Blizzard. Leave well enough alone.

That makes me wonder why then would I ever want to bother working for something in this game if with a little patience I’ll get it for (practically) free later on?

This mount equipment addition to the game is the stupidest thing put in yet. You ruined my Waterstrider and the uniqueness of mounts in the game. Whoever thought of this idea and the one who okay’ed it into the game should be ashamed. Terrible.

It’s pretty stupid, but not as stupid as upgrading the mobs to be able to dismount you more easily and more often.

Okay, I guess it’s all part of the same stupid.

I use the strider on all of my alts. It makes the swampy areas and even random lakes a lot less annoying when my characters can’t fly. I don’t think equipment slots are a horrible thing by themselves, but when they wreck a mount I spent my time to grind the reputation for, SPECIFICALLY for the special feature?

It also worries me because what’s to stop them from taking away something else I have grinded(ground?) for? It honestly makes me less enthused about building rep for special items in future, because who knows… That could be the next thing to “evolve”.

(I’ve used my mount twice since tuesday and both times forgot it is now useless. Very annoying. Also, taking the equipment slot away and leaving the ww sounds like the best compromise. I’m not expecting both, just to clarify.)
