Is it 3/5? Thought it was 4/5. Brain go brr at this point. Though even if it was 4/5 then you get the people who claim that people only click “yes” to get the pop-up off the screen and such. Any system can be abused, but this one’s persistence shouldn’t be taken as blind faith in a system so much as not yet having come up with a better one. And for what it’s worth hasn’t VtK become something of an industry standard for lots of multiplayer content where auto-grouping is a thing? Like, don’t a lot of games have some variation of it?
But yeah, I would chill out a bit, I know what being frustrated at other players is like in PUG life (believe me I do), but nobody makes good decisions or criticisms on a heated head. Hopefully you’ve cooled down in the past 2 hours and, once you have, head over to Dungeons and Raids section if you still feel the need to, but avoid saying things that’ll get you in trouble (swear words mostly).
If you need a good place to vent, Twitter and Blue Sky are options, the WoW subreddit can also be good, and there’s a subreddit specifically for venting, that’s also an option. These forums are generally not a good place, for multiple reasons.
Going to suggest not getting started on this one here. One, everyone in the world is a they. We can’t read your mind over the internet, nor can we see you. Two, the vote kick system is in place to make sure that people don’t have to run with people that they don’t want to run with. And three, the debuff was added in due to people complaining VERY LOUDLY that they wanted people who hold groups hostage until they’re kicked to have some form of punishment over it.
The reason why it was added when being kicked from a dungeon was due to people abusing the queuing system in order to get around the debuff.
If you have a better solution where people can’t abuse the queue system and to remove the deserter buff at the same time, I would recommend submitting your suggestion in a more appropriate location, such as the Dungeons, Raids and Scenario’s sub-forum or via In-Game.
As mentioned by Vrakthris from the same post of the same thread I’ve just linked:
And development does not visit the Customer Support forums.
The deserter buff is needed. You said you have been playing since 2004? Then you should remember the nightmare of the dungeon finder back in Wrath. Join the queue, get Occulus, tank sits at the zone in and refuses to move while spamming “kick me.” Or the people that would afk at the zone in to get free experience and not care if they got kicked because they would just immediately requeue and do the same thing to a new group.
When you sign up for an automated system to find a group then you also have to deal with the automated system’s way of handling people that try to game the system. No, it’s not a perfect system but it’s the best system. If you’re honest with yourself, how many times have you been in the dungeon finder and how many have you been kicked? Hundreds of dungeons and maybe been kicked a handful of times? It’s not common.
As for your brother… come on dude. Five times? He was kicked five times? You’re not going to convince anyone that he was only “going too slow” unless you tell us he was RP walking through the dungeons. There are a lot of people that don’t like the “go go go” tanks and it’s hard to believe you found five groups worth of people that do to the point they’re going to kick a tank that’s supposedly doing nothing wrong other than going too slow.
It was infact so bad I got the same tank 4 times at a low pop night and when we informed them we can’t kick them anymore due kick limits/cooldowns he then “asked very nicely: if you could all exit the dungeon instead because I won’t tank the dungeon for you” so we were left with either out-stay the tank or all exit and requeue.
We got the same dungeon again, and the same tank in the 5th queue and collectively sighed.
It was also around that time I for the first time ever took to the forums and joined the masses of demanding Blizzard to take ANY action to fix it.
They did. And fix it they kinda did for years to come.
The others have been trying to give you advice, Earl, good advice on what this forum is for and where best to post instead.
While your feedback is absolutely valid, the Customer Support forum is not the place for it. Yes, you are a customer, but that doesn’t mean “I have an issue and as a customer you need to address it”. While we absolutely want to help when we can, we have a scope of support when it comes to what the Customer Support department is able to assist with. Customer Support has zero involvement in the development of the game, game systems and the policies that govern it, and handling that feedback is well outside of our scope of support.
If you wish to provide feedback / suggestions about the Vote to Kick options I would recommend providing that feedback where it will be seen by our Game Developers. It should be noted “Do better” really isn’t actionable feedback.
For example, instead of general comments like “I don’t like how this works,” consider providing details such as:
What specific aspects are problematic?
How do they impact your experience?
What changes would you propose to improve the situation?
