I will buy shadowlands when they have shadowlands, thank you. I won’t pay for something when I could just as easily die before it even comes out. (Plus, with inflation, it’s more reasonable to pay as late as possible.)
Posting to this thread again as I’ve contacted customer service and they cannot do anything, and suggested to go to the forums which might have the dev’s ear. If this could be looked at, I’d much appreciate it.
My current situation is this:
I first started playing while living in the USA, so my region and account is US based.
I have since moved years ago to Europe. I can still play and access the game (which I prefer to do since all my unlocks and mounts and stuff are there since 2004), however, this causes some issues with the Blizzard Balance.
As it is a US account, any blizzard balance related to WOW would deal in dollars. But since I live in Europe, my spending is done in Euros, and my billing region is european. So in effect, I cannot purchase wow tokens to sell on the auction house, or convert gold into blizzard balance. I can live with that, not a big deal.
The problem is this, though. Since BFA, an automated system was added for digital expansion purchases -> collector’s edition upgrades. If you get the digital version, then later add the CE to your account, you get refunded the price difference as blizzard balance.
This doesn’t work for me due to the region issues (which is basically because Blizz is not a bank - they are not allowed to do currency conversions).
I have in the past bought the US CE, but this has two problems: A) 30-50$ shipping costs, and B) arrival is usually many days if not weeks after the expansion release date.
I have also tried buying a EU CE and contacted customer service to swap the key to a US one, this worked only once for Legion and no longer works since BFA implemented the automated blizz balance refund system.
Is there anything at all that can be done? I would love to be able to play with the CE (I have all CEs since vanilla, as well as all other blizz CEs since warcraft 3) on release date without a huge shipping cost, if at all possible.

Have you tried changing your “country/region”?
That would work but it then creates problem with billing. I wouldn’t be able to put my debit/credit card as a payment method as it’s not the right region.
If your credit/debit card are EU, and you change your region to EU it should work. Have you even tried it?
There is lots to Be Said about WOW when they keep deleting your Characters and not giving you your 6 months play that you pay for. They claim ppl got arrested for hacking WOW. Who polices them when they steal your money .,!!!
I mean… In Starcraft 2 if you buy anything that was included in a bundle, they will deduct the price of the bundle according to those items you’ve owned, why is WoW so complicated when it comes to cash shop?
…Yes. It’s not like I can’t pay for the game now. The problem is, since it is a US account, anything coming from the us currency wise would be in dollars - and it can’t head my way without being converted, and blizz can’t do that since they aren’t a bank. I can however pay for my sub since it goes through my and blizz’s banks to convert the sub fee.
My problem has to do with a refund for an upgrade only being blizz balance, which I will not get due to the region difference.
okay my thing is as of right now for all of us who per-purchased the expansion.say for example I want to go around and do some of the older expansions and I run into a problem like I am.I tried to do MT Hyjal and I tried to talk to the mpc by at keep and she and the portal disappeared. 2nd one is I went and did Legions did all what was required and did not get the hearthstone like I would for dreanor or stormwind whats the issue
I realize this. But in order to fix that you’re going to have to ask them to change your billing region, which that link is supposed to do.
I don’t know. Perhaps General Discussion isn’t the correct place to ask this question. I’d try starting a new thread in the Customer Support forums. They are more consistently moderated and have a ton of really great folks that will help try to find answers to these types of questions as well as actual Blizzard CMs who can steer you in the right direction.

If I pre-purchase the Digital Epic, but then buy the physical BASE because I want the box, does a refund still happen?

Bornakk, given today’s live stream that confirms that the physical Collector’s Edition will contain an Epic Edition game code, how are you going to differentiate those that bought the physical CE from the digital Epic Edition for the purposes of this Blizzard Balance credit?
And will the game license as displayed in Bnet still reflect it as an actual physical CE or are we going to be relegated to being considered owners of the “Epic Edition” license like the error that happened at the start of Legion showing Digital Deluxe after adding the CE key? edit: This may be moot since the Bnet account admin page no longer shows our license levels for some reason.
Yeah so I’m confused on how this all works since I ordered Epic edition literally the first 10min after it was put out. So now I have to buy another upgrade for the physical set? And then I get my money back for the Epic purchase? Am I assuming that correctly?
Thankyou. I was wondering about this as i was planning on getting the epic, but would really like to get the physical CE. I just don’t want to miss launch, even by a few hours. the last few expansions, being part of the rush to max level has been fun (plus my guild has prizes for the first few people at max, depending on how many mounts the GL was able to get for the prizes).
personally im happy with store credit. i can put it towards game time or mount/pet purchases that ive been holding off on.
I just preordered the physical CE. WIll I get the code now or wait until it comes in the physical mail?
I pre-ordered the physical CE from Game Stop. I assume I’ll be refunded the Epic cost on release day after I plug in the key from the physical copy.
