Unofficial Playable Furbolg Discussion Thread

Something that is going to irk me for years to come.

I agree wit this and its perfectly reasonable that any of the Blackwood or Gnarlpine Furbolg that survived would potentially move with the Night Elves to join them among Amirdrassil’s roots. Perhaps they could bring the furbolg of the Dragon Isles into closer ties with the Night Elves?

Its the one possible benefit I can see of Amirdrassil being stuck so far from Kalimdor and the Homeland of the Night Elves.

I’ve commented in another thread on my thoughts on the Neutral races thing.

Honestly Blizzard needs to abandon that. Races should pick a side in almost all cases. But Players should be able to cross that faction divide as time goes on. Your race shouldn’t keep you stuck in one faction over another but the factions should remain, and should give direction for the races of the world. They should arrange themselves as allied with one or the other and not be Stradling the line.

Conflict and the Alliance and Horde is a part of the World of Warcraft and futilely trying to erase that entirely is very poor storytelling on Blizzards part.

I wouldn’t expect the Alliance and Horde to get into further wars mind, but they’re never going to be truly allies either. It doesn’t make sense.

I am against neutral races overall, though some I do see as making sense, and I do not want the furbolg to be neutral. They Should be Alliance through and through.

Keep in mind the workups were made before DF was even close to a thing. :stuck_out_tongue:
I do also think that Blizzard would probably make them from what we have now which is the Drogbar skeleton. Its a long ways off though from being a player model by any means.

I don’t think they need all furbolg to join together but they would need more than the Stillpine.

Currently the Alliance has very close ties with the Stillpine, Blackwood and Gnarlpine with the possibly of the Thistlefur being on that list. Those tribes together could convincingly make a good faction of furbolg for the Alliance.

My ideal scenario is that the furbolg start to join together among the Alliance ones and then call a conclave to speak with the rest of the tribes in Grizzlemaw City, where a representative from each tribe shows up and they discuss joining a faction. I’d like to see the Alliance Aligned ones and the Grizzlemaw City tribes choose to ally with the Alliance and the Timbermaw, Blackmaw and Winterfall furbolg choose neutrality and most of the others choose either unaligned or actively hostile to the other races.

lets us keep a faction for the alliance a neutral faction that the Horde can work with too (and preserves some older content) as well as hostile factions to fight.

So after you beat up Fryakk, there are reactions from the local denizens of the Dragon Isles at the new world tree being planted in the area. One of which comes from some of the Furbolg, though not much is said:

Radza Thunderclaw says: We have come from Longclaw Islands. We heard whispers that something was soon to happen, but this…

Adday says: It lives and breathes, The Isles welcome it, What else will it bring?

So the Furbolg tribes in general on the Dragon Isles should be aware of it.

From my understanding, you can’t visit the zone where the world tree gets planted until you do the questline to beat up Fryakk. I don’t know if this will open up to everyone at some point regardless of whether you beat him up or not, and with Fryakk LFR being available on Dec. 12th I think, I won’t be able to check things out until then.

Still, it does open some potential Furbolg storylines. I’ll keep on eye out for anything else to report if I see anything. :polar_bear:

Happy December everyone! :christmas_tree::polar_bear:

I came across a neat video that shows how to make your own Christmas polar bear, which has a list of supplies used and some links to them in the video’s description section on its YouTube page:

I feel like this could be edited a bit to make it more Furbolg-like.

Anyway, next to Halloween, this is another favorite time of the year for me. I’m planning to make the usual festive posts once Winter Veil starts in-game for here and a few other race request megathreads. I’ll likely make the usual couple of New Year’s posts as well when it gets to the end of the month.

Hoping everyone has a fun, happy, and safe holiday season! :snowman_with_snow:

These polar bears are getting ready for Winter Veil coming up! They’ll be wishing for playable Alliance Furbolgs underneath that tree they’re setting up. You too can wish for that and help to make several bears and Furbolg very happy!

With the beginning of each month, I make in-game suggestions for each race I want to see playable along with a mention of their respective megathreads on these forums. While it is far from a guarantee of seeing our dreams come true, I do think every little bit helps, and doing it monthly I feel is reasonable and not that intrusive or annoying.

If you’re interested in doing the same for races you want to see playable, I made a little guide on how to do so in-game here:

I know I’ll continue to wish to see a few new playable races under my Winter Veil tree! :lizard: :japanese_ogre: :bat: :tiger2: :polar_bear:

Also, since I’m at three posts in a row and can’t post more until someone else posts in here, if someone could make a post, I’d very much appreciate it! Thank you!

Given Amirdrassil being so close and the Furbolg seemingly taking an interest I do hope there’s a chance between them and the Stillpine, Gnarlpine and Blackwood Furbolg for the Alliance to get them as an Allied Race.

It could be interessing to get some exchanges about the Furbolg from Dragon Isles and the Night Elves. A meeting between the tribes of Dragon Isles and the tribes of Kalimdor could be interessing too.

Absolutely!

I’d love to see the furbolg of Kalimdor and the Broken Isles come to speak with the tribes of the Dragon Isles. To see them interact and overcome 10k years of solitude from one another would be great!

I’d also hope to see that new model or even better a playable model be added and used for it.

I’d like to think that some of the Furbolg tribes would be interested in meeting with the Winterpelt Tribe and any of the surviving tribes on the Dragon Isles. I’m sure they would have a lot to discuss and share.

Seeing as some of the Kalimdor tribes are suppose to be allied with the Night Elves, I’m curious if they would keep in contact with the Night Elves. I’m sure the Night Elves are still wanting to keep their territory on Kalimdor and the Furbolgs there would be a big help in protecting it and any Night Elf settlements in the area.

Seems like quite a few storyline possibilities! :polar_bear:

I’m here to support Furbolgs. Ever since they updated the Gnolls and Furbolg I’ve wanted to play them. Top three non-main faction races I want are Murlocs, Gnolls and Furbolgs.

I woke up with a headache and came up with a way to possibly get a lot of playable races and that is with a Peace Xpac, which I mentioned before in threads years ago that wasn’t liked but I revamped the idea and think this might work. I’ll just cut and paste what I wrote in Stonemaul Ogre thread.

"Here’s my revamped idea. It starts out with maybe five or so zones that are revamped with updated graphics and new quests. We go around healing and repairing the old zones. I’m thinking these first couple of zones start around Orgrimmar and Stormwind and slowly circle out as both factions mend the broken world.

As we do we help these races and earn the right/ability to make them playable. In the process we learn of their lore and of their main city or small communities so when we finally do make our characters we know a little something of the place some of us might call home. And this would happen over the entirety of Kalimdor and Eastern Kingdoms over the lifespan of the Peace Xpac.

We could recruit the Furbolg in Ashenvale (?) or Felwood, can’t remember where I first ran into them and their tree home, and Ogres in Duskwallow or Feralas. Gnolls would probably be in eastern Kingdoms somewhere and Murlocs I have no clue but would love them to be a fun race that plays similar to HotS or the Murloc from the quest in Nazjatar with them having four active abilities that are similar to the ones you get in either of those two examples on separate CD’s.

Player housing could be introduced, if that was ever going to be a thing, during this time with possibly each zone having sites for players to use as their home including these new racial areas. Of course you would have to be limited to one place per character so choose wisely. I theme my toons so if I made a Furbolg I would most definitely make the new Fubolg city/town my home for that character.

Any way, just an idea that most of the community won’t like but I thought it could be a very good idea, in my own mind, of how we could get a whole lot of playable races, update zones, get lore and player housing all at the same time."

To each their own.

I have survived the horrors of LFR and beat up Fyrakk! Huzzah!

We wiped at Fyrakk once and did it the second time, though Fyrakk must’ve had a Taco Bell binge or something beforehand because at some point, a quick blast caused me and a few other raid members to fall faster than CM Punk’s AEW career.

I originally thought it would open up the new World Tree getting planted right after, but nothing popped up and my quest log said to come back later. Least it is done on this character in case it is a requirement for that, which it may not be.

Whenever that does get put in game, I’ll take a look around and see if there is anything of Furbolg interest to report back. Not that I expect much other than what I posted about the Furbolg tribes looking in awe at the new World Tree.

But you never know. Best to not leave any stones unturned. And we do have a few smaller patches left in Dragonflight, so maybe something will come from it then or even the future. After all, the world (of Warcraft!) has opened up for the Dragon Isles Furbolg and the Winterpelt are looking for allies and just so happen to be fairly close to this new World Tree. :polar_bear:

And for those looking to brave the nightmare that is LFR in general, I wish you the best of luck!

Winter Veil is now live in WoW Retail. Huzzah!

Hoping Furbolg get to enjoy the festivities someday!

I’ll be taking some festive screenshots like I usually do each year, some of which will be for a few other race request megathreads. I’ll also make my usual end of the year and beginning of next year posts like I usually do as well. It’s a busy but fun time!

Hope everyone has a fun, happy, and safe Winter Veil! :christmas_tree::polar_bear:

As is part of the usual tradition of Winter Veil in this megathread, I’ve gone and taken several screenshots of the Winter Veil sleigh ride, which is one of my favorite parts of the Winter Veil features.

I’ll be using a Winterpelt Furbolg as the Santa Furbolg this year, who is off to spread cheer throughout the Alliance and hopefully grant some Furbolg wishes to come true! However, the Winterpelt Furbolg model is a bit limited since they can’t sit, so they throw safety out the window by standing as the sleigh ride is in motion. Least they have magnets on their feet or something to prevent falling off.

Enjoy the screenshots with some fitting music below:

More festive screenshots to come! :christmas_tree::polar_bear:

Edit: Found out I’m at three posts in a row and can’t post any more. If someone could post so I can keep making posts in here, I’d very much appreciate it!

So I wanted to talk a bit about the Winterpelt Furbolg as I’ve finally had the time to do the quest and reputation leveling.

The Winterpelt are an amazing tribe, separated from the other tribes of the region for thousands of years, known for disappearing into the snow drifts of the Azure Span. So long in fact that they’ve changed their own dialect of Furbolg language so much so that nearby tribes such as the Rustpine and the Longclaw can no longer communicate as effectively with them much less the tribes of mainland Kalimdor.

They are a tribe that when we meet them is dealing with two problems. One is the assault and enslavement of their people by Primalists. The other is of a spiritual nature, as they’ve closed themselves off from their god Ursoc and now only follow Ursol.

After and attack on the Dragonscale Expedition forces in the area we’re sent to find out why this isolationist tribe has become so aggressive and we find the Primalists using them as slaves in their bid to bring more furbolg into their fold. We defeat the Primalist involved and are sent away by the now freed chieftain.

From there we gather furbolg artifacts from the Primalists around the isles and slowly learn how their dialect works, along the way meeting the few remaining members of the Rustpine tribe who have had the majority of their own tribe join the Primalists willingly. The Rustpine now tribeless end up joining us in our efforts to make contact and learn to speak and interact with the Winterpelt furbolg.

Some grinding later you can unlock the Furbolg language spoken by the Winterpelt and gain access to several quests. I won’t spoil most of it, however by the end the Winterpelt and remaining Rustpine feel that its time to seek out more allies across the Isles.

The last we’ve heard from either tribe (and also the Longclaw) is after Amirdrassil blooms into the world as they can be found, a representative of each tribe, on the coast of the island seemingly very interested in what is to come next.

Hopefully they’ll pick up an alliance with the Night Elves and work happily with them. Something I think has a great chance to be a way for Blizzard to bring the furbolg into the Alliance. But who knows.

This is a continuation of my furbolg tribes posts the rest of which you can find here.

I’d love to have my Furbolg visit for Winters veil.

I can’t wait for the day blizzard adds the Furbolg to the Alliance.

I don’t actually know if I want my furbolg (my main one I’ll make one for all three classes if they come to be.) should be a Druid, Shaman or a Warlock… I have stories for all three.

According to the Road Map for WoW Retail, there are Dragon Isles epilogues coming up.

Hopefully the surviving Furbolg tribes and the Winterpelt Tribe will have some epilogues. They could use some closure in their tribes getting built back up. Not to mention the Winterpelt Tribe seeking allies, which now includes the Night Elf as potential allies since the new world tree is planted right next to the Dragon Isles. So quite a bit of potential for the Dragon Isles Furbolg tribes in general.

I’ll keep an eye out for things to report when official details are available. :polar_bear:

After reading this I was wondering if you ever took into account a hyper hibernation? What if when they introduce playable Furbolgs they are a race that can hyper hibernate for thousands of years maybe and that is why they are just now appearing. Just a thought from what I took from that.

EDIT: Racial could be called Hibernate and you curl up on the spot and regen kind of like the Zandi racial. But now that I type it curling up in combat kind of seems like a Snorlax type move and not one worthy of combat, lol. NVM.
