Unofficial Playable Furbolg Discussion Thread

To each their own I guess.

They’re just guides of what could be if Blizzard used the pandaren skeleton and probably would not be what we’d get for a playable Furbolg in game.

I would never want to see the furbolg reduced to a druid form. The Furbolg are worthy of and should be, especially since they already are in the Alliance, a full playable race.

Who says they can’t be both?

We already have the mage tower bear form, literally called “Might of the Grizzlemaw” (a furbolg tribe) - I don’t think it’s a stretch to assume they might make a druid furbolg form.

It’s not the same thing.

I’m looking for and this thread is focused on the Furbolg race as a playable race.

Reducing a race to a simple druid form locks anyone who’s trying to play Furbolg to only one class, and is a far worse option than what they reduced the Wildhammer clan of dwarves to.

That would never be worth it to me.

So I would never want to see the Furbolg reduced to a druid form.

I’m sorry I’m kind of triggered you keep using the word “reduced” when describing Druid forms (as a long time druid player lol).

I respect that you want furbolg as a playable race but I still think a druid form or costume would be a great idea!

Gathering all Fulborg tribes (Blackwood tribe + Timbermaw tribe) with the Stillpine tribe under the same banner could be a great move for the Fulborg race.

They could rejoin the Alliance, and with the help of the Draenei and the Night Elves, they could fight the corrupt tribes and other threats in Kalimdor together.

They could even send some ambassadors to the Grizzleweald tribe and the Winterpelt Furbolg to have diplomatic relations with them.

I apologize, I did not mean to cause distress, I’m just tired of seeing things I’m fighting for left as toys or forms for this or that when they’re literally their own things in lore and story and such a low hanging fruit as it were for Blizzard to give the Alliance something cool and that is already a part of it. (This also applies to the Horde with the Ogres and Taunka and such).

I hate how they treated the Wildhammer as nothing more than tattoos on a dwarf when they’re so much more than that.

To see the furbolg be left as nothing more than a druid form or a toy would be a massive waste in my opinion for one of the easiest groups to add to the Alliance.

I feel like the Timbermaw would never join either the Horde or Alliance.

I think they out of all of the furbolg would always remain neutral.

I think I’ve mentioned and outlined it before but I’d love a scenario where the Stillpine put together a meeting between all tribes and they gather at Grizzlemaw city to discuss joining together as one.

In the process of this conclave of furbolg tribes the Timbermaw, Blackmaw and the Winterfall furbolg all choose to remain neutral and don’t want to fight or choose between the Alliance or Horde.

But the Stillpine, Blackwood, Brisetlelimb (with their war brought to some sort of end with the Stillpine), Gnarlpine(if any yet survived Teldrassil), Thistlefur(Suppposedly cleared of corruption in a comic), Grizzlewealde and Smolderhide all decide to join the Alliance as they’ve already got easy ties to them.

Meanwhile the now (supposedly) uncorrupted Redfang and Frostpaw choose to remain as neutral to all as well but offer their city as a safe place for all tribes regardless of their allegiances and refuse to be apart of the same neutral group as the Timbermaw kinda as a truly neutral to all parties setup.

Meanwhile the still corrupted tribes actually ally together to oppose all who would challenge furbolg kind.

Where I’d put the Winterpelt and the Longclaw tribes I’m not sure. They have little connection to the Alliance…

I could see them being approached by the Stillpine though to see if they’d join since they’ve been separated from the main furbolg groups I’m not sure how well that would go.

It seems like a new world tree (of Warcraft!) is going to be grown in the upcoming patch:

And of course with it comes Forsaken and Night Elf heritage armor:

I’m wondering if we could see Furbolgs, primarily the Dragon Isles tribes, play a role in the upcoming patch.

Mostly thinking of how Furbolgs kinda have a link both to world trees and Night Elf lore. Especially since there were rumors that the Night Elves might be moving their main residence to a Dragon Isles world tree. Not impossible to see the Winterpelt and other Dragon Isle tribe remnants, but I’ll keep an open mind of course.

Still, something to keep an eye on. I’ll help report anything of interest I see. :polar_bear:

I hope, when they finally give us playable furbolg, that they include the iconic feather jewerly (the necklace that has feathers pointing up, looking like it’s on their ears). Could either be in jewerly customization options or on heritage armor.

Furbolg thread needed some care. Someone is going after my threads imgur albums apparently… lol

Everything is fixed now.

Adjusted the Classes section now that Blizzard is clearly going all races all classes.

So Bagzak pointed this out to me in another thread (sorta he was talking about it anyways)

This recent datamine suggests we’ll hear about a new expansion for sure with the upcoming Blizzcon and I now think that there is a high chance we’ll be seeing an announcement for 10.2 very soon. Possibly as soon as next week.

I don’t expect that announcement or the expansion announcement to include furbolg as they are in no way even close to prepared to be a playable race, but I am happy still that Dragonflight brought some more light to them and their cultures even if its a version thats 10k years removed from the others and I am excited to see what happens next for them.

I’ll go over some thoughts I have for the next patch while I’m here.

I’d bet we’ll be seeing some more classes going to races without em very soon. Theres a lot of datamining around the Silver Hand so Paladins are a good shoe in for 10.2, but with the Dreamsurges of 10.1.7 upcoming I think there is also a good argument that Druid could be coming next which would be amazing. And of course in an expansion FULL of elements and such I can see them dropping Shaman at any moment.

Now I’m not sure if they’d do more than one race per patch, but since it is a major patch and since all three remaining classes require a lot of additional labor I’m almost wondering if thats not all going to be held back till 10.3 and they’ll use 10.1.7-10.2.7 as a means to setup the actual release of these classes to all races. And a part of me hopes they do… I’d rather get well thought out and culturally specific versions of these classes for each race than to have just one Silver Hand mask placed over them for instance.

Beyond that with 10.2 I’d expect more customizations on the same level we’ve so far seen. Minor things with maybe one or two big things like the Man’ari Eredar. But I wouldn’t expect any Allied Races anytime soon. But thats a good lead in into my thoughts on…

11.0 the Expansion announcement!

I don’t know what to expect really… Theres a lot of theories going around about what it will be about, whether it will link into the other side of Azeroth, be a revamp of Kalimdor and EK, a Light and Void Expansion or even just a Void expansion. There are a lot of narrative threads being thrown around for those who look.

Personally I kinda hope for either a world revamp or the other side of Azeroth options as I think both of those have a great chance to actually include some AR’s and the “leaks” I’ve yet seen involved with both options include a few ARs to wet our whistles. That said I don’t trust any of the leaks I’ve seen…

So who knows.

What does that mean for the furbolg? Not a whole lot right now. As I mentioned above the new models while awesome are not designed to be a player model at all, and aren’t even propagated to the rest of the race in other lands. A mighty shame if you ask me as it is a great model. My hopes and dreams are that Blizzard sees the Furbolg and sees their potential for the Alliance. A nice rework to make them look good and work as a player model and I think they’d be well received by Alliance fans. A new noble beast race to add to our roster. And also they are ALREADY allied to the Alliance in many places so… Lets get it going Blizzard!

Patch 10.1.7 is soon.

I don’t expect much for the Furbolg for it nor for the rest of Dragonflight but since the patch is the introduction to Dreamsurges we might see some furbolg running about either helping out or as enemies turned to madness again.

While I’m on the topic of maddened furbolg, during the Time Rifts I noticed that you can find Fel infused Furbolg all over the place during certain timelines attacks. They’re not super strong overall, nothing is in the Rifts, but they seem mostly to be using their Fel powers to attack the player!

Which isn’t much but its still nice to be seeing furbolg used and continue to show up.

We may be getting a new expansion announcement soon, but since we still have stuff to do in Dragonflight and with a new month, it’s still a good time to submit some in-game feedback on the races we want to see playable; Furbolg included!

With the beginning of each month, I make in-game suggestions for each race I want to see playable along with a mention of their respective megathreads on these forums. While it is far from a guarantee of seeing our dreams come true, I do think every little bit helps, and doing it monthly I feel is reasonable and not that intrusive or annoying.

If you’re interested in doing the same for races you want to see playable, I made a little guide on how to do so in-game here:

Hopefully we’ll see Furbolg get to go on adventures as champions of the Alliance someday! :polar_bear:

Looks like the new world boss in the Emerald Dream is the Wild God of the furbolgs. Fortunately, we just help him get back to sleep. From the PTR development notes:

NEW WORLD BOSS: AUROSTOR THE HIBERNATING
Aurostor follows a strict regiment of sleep. Fyrakk’s assault on the Emerald Dream has disturbed this cycle, rousing the Furbolg Wild God from his slumber too soon. In a sleep deprived state, this raging Wild God attacks any passersby in an attempt to wear himself out.

Their Wild Gods are Ursol and Ursoc… Why are they making a new Wild God?

Well… That will be interesting Lore to dive into.

Maybe its the father of the Jalgar?

So it looks like an old world (of Warcraft!) revamp or update is a possibility, though no timeframe on when it could occur:

With an old world (of Warcraft!) revamp very much a possibility in the future, we’ll have several areas and Furbolg tribes to check on and see what they’ve been doing. I also wonder if they would get upgraded to the new Furbolg model in Dragonflight.

Whenever an old world (of Warcraft!) update/revamp happens, I’ll be sure to help report anything of Furbolg interest back here. Granted, we know know when such a revamp/update would happen, but it seems like a pretty big possibility from the sound of it. :polar_bear:
