I just got done watching a video that shows you can ally with the ones guarding the gate in classic.
Gatekeeper Rageroar is a rare mob furbolg found in Blackmaw Hold in Azshara . Before the Cataclysm, Gatekeeper Rageroar was a member of Timbermaw Hold in Azshara, and one of the few rare mobs in the game that would result in a reputation loss when killed.
A thought occurred to me about the Furbolg language you learn in Dragonflight, which I canāt remember if it was discussed before: Are there any places in the game other than Dragonflight that Furbolgs speak the Furbolg language anywhere?
I know that the storyline is that this is an ancient Furbolg language that is not regularly spoken by Furbolgs other than the Winterpelt we know, but since the game designates it as a Furbolg language, I was curious if that would allow us to understand any Furbolg NPCās speaking it. Even if theyāre technically not suppose to know that version of Furbolg language.
I canāt remember any mobs that speak it specifically anywhere. Even then, I assume most that would speak it might just be angry mobs who likely just say how they want to beat you up in creative ways at best, but it was a thought I figured I would mention just in case there is something somewhere. I imagine itād be just for fun as opposed to learning anything practical, but you never know.
Seeing as the Winterpelt Furbolg are based on polar bears and that would likely be what I would base my Furbolg characterās fur customization on if they became playable, I thought Iād link some Polar Bear fact videos for some playable Furbolg idea inspiration!
Videos are below, with some having still shots and short videos of polar bears snacking on prey, so viewer discretion is advised:
I can see Polar Bear fur customizations being fairly popular for Furbolg players. Maybe for frost mages or death knights, which would be fitting. Iād make mine a Shaman if they ever became playable.
Iāll be looking for other facts on various types of bears to share for playable Furbolg idea inspiration!
Furbolg warlock could be explained with their corruption by the fel or they could learn how to master the shadow magic of the warlock.
Furbolg paladin could be explained with a collaboration with the Draenei to master the Light (Draenei can teach shamanism with the Broken and the Furbolg) or just learn it when the Night Elves will master the āLight of Eluneā to become paladin.
Some Furbolg instead of falling to the corruption so easily are able to resist and even learn to use it against demons and other enemies of their tribes.
I also want to specifically see them use it to Uncorrupt their kin by pulling the Fel out of them.
Iād love to see both.
The Stillpine have worked with the Draenei long enough at this point I donāt see any reason they wouldnāt have been able to teach some of their members, but for the rest of the tribes Iād love to see an Elune based paladin lead that charge.
Folks, if youāll bear with me for just a second, itās time to mention that it is a new month and itās a great time to submit a new round of new in-game race request suggestions, including Furbolg!
With the beginning of each month, I make in-game suggestions for each race I want to see playable along with a mention of their respective megathreads on these forums. While it is far from a guarantee of seeing our dreams come true, I do think every little bit helps, and doing it monthly I feel is reasonable and not that intrusive or annoying.
If youāre interested in doing the same for races you want to see playable, I made a little guide on how to do so in-game here:
Seeing all the potential from Furbolg makes me hope weāll see them on the Alliance side of that character creation screen someday!
I assume that Furbolgs would be an Alliance race instead of being neutral. If they were neutral for some reason, maybe involving the Winterpelt and other Furbolgs on Dragon Isles, that would affect my class choice as Iād go Horde like with any neutral race, but for now, Iāll assume theyād be an Alliance only race.
Currently leaning towards an Elemental Shaman, since the name I currently have reserved for Furbolgs is from a Shaman character I had back in Everquest 1.
And still heavily leaning towards a polar bear fur pattern for them. I think thatād look the best, as well as polar bears being a favorite type of bear of mine.
That is a good question. Itās a bit more difficult since I have a Shaman for all three specs on Horde, though I do sometimes double on specs on the same faction if I get inspired.
I may still go Elemental Shaman, as Shaman is the first class I think of for Furbolgs. If they can be Druids, I might consider that as well depending on what their Druid forms would be. Not sure what spec I would go if I did, since I have all but healing spec on Horde and I donāt think Iād view my Furbolg character as a healing spec.
Iāll have to see how I feel if Furbolgs become playable and what factions theyād be on. I still think Furbolgs as an Alliance only race make the most sense, but if they become Neutral, Iāll have to consider my options then. Regardless of what happens, hopefully weāll get playable Furbolg someday!
The new Furbolg model need a big rework to be playable as race. But I think itās possible to get them with time. I would really like to see a Furbolg with an warrior armor or a mage set.
I agree. Itās obvious theyāre not player ready yet but the upgrade is wonderful. I do wish they would propagate it to the rest of the Furbolg in the world as wellā¦
Still the renewed interest in Furbolg is always good to see and since theyāre an easy in for the Alliance I think they have a good chance of getting an Allied Race one day.
This bear is surprised that itās a new month and Furbolg still arenāt playable. However, you can help by submitting some in-game feedback for races you want to see playable!

It still isnāt too much to bear, so every little bit helps!
I played a bit with the Winterpelt toy to take a few secreenshots in Stormwind as a Furbolg with a newer model. Despite being an upgrade to the old Furbolg model, it is still fairly limited, such as weapons not really showing. Still, I can make lemonade with the lemons Iāve been given, so here is what I took:
A Furbolg approaches the grand city of Stormwind!
Checking out the bank to deposit some quest rewards!
Looking at some auctions to bid on some pretty awesome items!
In front of the Cathedral of Light!
Inside the Cathedral of Light!
Making a case to Turalyon to allow Furbolgs into the Alliance. May have to wait a bit until Anduin comes back, howeverā¦
Nothing like resting under a tree after a long day of questing!
Iāll likely take more screenshots as inspiration strikes. Gotta show off how Furbolg would look as a playable race somehow!
The furbolg mockups you have with armor just dont look good, ngl. I love the furbolg npcs in the game tho and think they would make a great option for a druid bear form or a costume to use while playing. (in combat please, no more costumes unraveling in combat!)
