Unofficial Playable Furbolg Discussion Thread

Dang it, I want Gnolls!

Give me!

Pretty sure there was a gnoll thread around.

This ones for Furbolg though.

Always a concern. I think itā€™ll be fine though after a week or so. Normally things calm down. Iā€™ve waited so long for everything else I want I can wait a little longer if need be.

So the Wowpedia page for Furbolg has quite a lot of official artwork for Furbolgs under the Gallery section. So many that I canā€™t really link them all, since itā€™d be quite a number of images. Thus, Iā€™ll just link the Wowpedia page here:

It has artwork from Hearthstone, the physical WoW card game, and even from the TTRPG that was a thing a long time ago.

Not sure on the best way of sharing the images since there are so many. Even then, linking from wikiā€™s on these forums haveā€¦mixed results. But I figured I would bring some attention to the page at the very least.

If I find any particularly awesome Furbolg artwork, Iā€™ll be sure to share them for the usual playable Furbolg idea inspiration.

Many of those same pictures Iā€™ve used throughout this thread!

I love the artwork around for WoW Furbolg!

Came across a video that shows a side by side comparison between old and new models of Tuskarr and Furbolg in Warcraft 3, Warcraft 3 Reforged, and some of WoW. Furbolg start at roughly the 3:27 mark in the video:

Thought it would be of some interest to show off and see some different Furbolg designs.

With Furbolg on the mind next patch and with a new month, itā€™s a great time to send in in-game playable race request suggestions!

With the beginning of each month, I make in-game suggestions for each race I want to see playable along with a mention of their respective megathreads on these forums. While it is far from a guarantee of seeing our dreams come true, I do think every little bit helps, and doing it monthly I feel is reasonable and not that intrusive or annoying.

If youā€™re interested in doing the same for races you want to see playable, I made a little guide on how to do so in-game here:

Even if nothing comes from the Winterpelt Furbolg, there are still plenty of other tribes and future expansions!

Furbolg are playable races in the WoW tabletop rpg, how are they not playable yet Blizzard :dracthyr_cry:

Furbolg are big, they are bears. And bears irl can stand over 10 feet! Pandaren are only mid 6 feet!

Ogres for Horde and Furbolg for Alliance would mirror each other nicely.

I secretly want Vrykul for Alliance though.

Oh I very much agree with this!

Two of my most desired races in one go.

Youā€™re in good company, I know many folk who want Vrykul!

Me me me! Be fun if we could make them a storm paladin too

Vrykul and furbolg are pretty cool, they are apart of my race pairings on my personal list of potential horde v alliance races.

Ogre v vrykul
Gnoll v furbolg
Corrupt belf(undead and fel belf) v broken
Saberon v arrakoa
Naga v ethereal

The last pairing was very recent.

We now have a release date for the 10.0.7 patch: March 21 (US) and 22nd (Europe).

Also announced was the new 10.1 patch:

Iā€™ll be working on my Winterpelt Furbolg faction ASAP when theyā€™re available and help report on any other findings involving them and other Furbolgs.

So I saw a little joke thing going around Twitter where @naitsade was combining races together to make ā€œhalfbreedsā€.

And I canā€™t help but be likeā€¦

Swap out the Worgen head with a Bear one and make some minor adjustmentsā€¦ And this would actually be an amazing Furbolg rig.

Some minor issues of course is that furbolg donā€™t have digitigrade legs and the model would need some refinement but its otherwise really good looking I think.

I donā€™t understand why the furbolgs from Kalimdor and Northrend still donā€™t use the new furbolg model.

Maybe there is an explication for that or itā€™s just like the centaurs and they donā€™t update them.

Yeah I find it very frustrating that they wonā€™t update the old models. Furbolg have especially been effected by this as theyā€™ve had two other texture remakes.

One day when theyā€™re made into a playable race though theyā€™ll all get updated.

Still very excited to learn more about the Winterpelt Furbolg in the coming patch!

Iā€™ve heard of rumors of the old world (of Warcraft!), which consists of Eastern Kingdoms and Kalimdor, possibly getting revamped off and on. Recently, those rumors have popped up again, but itā€™s hard to know weā€™ll ever see that happen.

If it does happen, we could see the new models used there then. On one hand, it would make sense to do it if the old world (of Warcraft!) got updated. On the other hand, Gnolls did get their old models replaced with the new one in Dragonflight.

Hard to really know what the reason could be for the old Furbolg model not getting updated. Itā€™ll likely be something that does happen at some point, though part of me wants to hope that such updated models could be based on playable models, but that is just my usual wishful thinking.

The new patch is now live on Retail servers!

Iā€™ll try to jump into it when I can to work on Winterpelt rep and report any findings! Might be a bit before I can, though.

So something I wanted to mention is that after doing the previous Winterpelt questlines, there is suppose to be mail in your in-game mailbox from Sonova Snowden, I think. It gives you an item to send you to where to continue the Winterpelt questline for the new questlines.

When I first logged in, I didnā€™t have mail. However, after being in-game for a bit, I noticed I suddenly had mail, which was the mail I needed to continue the quest. I donā€™t know when it happened, so I canā€™t say exactly how long it took to get it.

Just wanted to mention it in case youā€™ve done the questline and have not gotten the mail to continue the quest. It might be a bit before it arrives in your in-game mail. Hopefully, others donā€™t have any issues with it.

Seems I have.

Though I didnā€™t see a mail icon when I logged in.

Very nice. Thank you for the info!

Had some time to do some grinding for the item drops and got max Furbolg languages.

To get a language point, it takes either 5 ā€œLiberated Furbolg Artifactsā€ or 1 ā€œIntact Scribe Stick.ā€ At the time, I had:

525 Liberated Furbolg Artifacts

21 Intact Scribe Sticks

After getting 100 Furbolg language points, I had 130 Liberated Furbolg Artifacts leftover. So it seems like 500 artifacts are needed, minus 5 for each Intact Scribe Stick you find. May want to have a few extra just in case.

Time spent farming for these items I want to say was a little over an hour. Got decent amounts of the Liberated Furbolg Artifacts for each mob killed.

Both items are also soulbound I think, so you canā€™t send any extras to alts sadly. Not sure if anything involving this questline, language and such, are account wide.

According to Wowhead comments, it was recommended to farm a couple of elite mobs in Azure Span, though I donā€™t know if this is the best spot or not. The mobs are the following:

They can easily overwhelm you, along with nearby fire elementals and a roaming rock giant dude. They either are walking in plain sight or will come up from the ground in some small magma looking holes. They also have a frontal cone that will disorient you for a few seconds, so movement is required fighting them.

If youā€™re a Hunter, tracking with the Dragonkin tracking will help locate them, both walking around and in the ground. I do recommend being a solo class that has good gear, as I got overwhelmed a few times on this character with an ilevel of 387 at the time of this post, or bring some friends. If youā€™re doing this solo, throw on some music or YouTube to help the grind.

Doing some of the quests for the Winterpelt Furbolg now. Apparently the Dwarf you work with says Furbolgs love to brew drinks. Kinda fitting, I guess.

Will report any other findings as I go through the questline!
