So I did the new Winterpelt questline with max Furbolg language and I recall a few notable things to report back on.
-First, I thought there was an achievement for getting exalted with the Winterpelt, but the only related achievement I saw was getting max Furbolg language skill. Not sure if I misunderstood, just couldn’t find the achievement, or something was changed or what, but I never got an achievement when I got exalted. Just something to note.
-There are female Furbolg, though it seems like they were using the same model as the male Furbolg. I didn’t look too closely to compare, but this could always change in the future if Furbolg ever get more fleshed out.
-I got two trinkets during the questline. One sets a totem down that buffs any nearby Furbolg allies. This likely is referring to the other trinket you get, which has a chance of summoning a Furbolg NPC to fight for a few seconds. I’d be curious if the first trinket would affect playable Furbolg, if that ever happens of course.
-At one point during the questline, you have to challenge a Furbolg spirit to a fight, in which they turn into a bear. I couldn’t easily tell if the model was a regular bear model or if it was a special Furbolg bear druid model, since it was in spirit form and I was having to make sure I didn’t get my face ripped off in the fight, so I couldn’t really get in a good position for a screenshot.
The mob’s name, if I recall correctly, was “Ursoc’s Champion.” I can’t find a web page that shows off mob information unfortunately, so I can’t find the Furbolg bear model online. Maybe when I take my Alliance main through the questline, I’ll try to take a screenshot. Again, I don’t know if this is a new Furbolg bear druid model or just something utilized for the context of the fight.
-A potentially big thing to note is that at the end of the questline, you convince the leader of the Winterpelt that they need allies and can’t live alone. From the sound of the text from the leader, it sounded like allies on the Waking Shores as opposed to allies of the Horde/Alliance variety, so I can’t say it is hinting to anything in particular.
I mean, I could easily help them find allies. All I need to do is take them to the character creation screen! They’ll have plenty of allies to find there!..yeah, wishful thinking, I know.
-Friendly relations with the other Furbolg tribes in the area growing I think is implied. Maybe after we beat up the big bads of the expansion, they could form their own Furbolg council. Would be a neat way to introduce playable Furbolg and have a reason for the different fur patterns representing a different tribe.
That is all I can think of off the top of my head. I’ll add more if I remember anything. Not much came from finishing the questline, as it felt like a “welp, that sure was a thing!” Not that I expected a lot out of it, of course, but the questline was still fun.
I’ll continue to keep an eye out on Furbolg related stuff to report back!
Playable Alliance Furbolgs are a bear necessity!
