Transmog costs nerfed in beta

I’d say that addresses a decent amount of the issues. I’m okay with the cost to save outfits being a little more expensive than now because it’ll auto transmog your outfit. The first prices they had were way way way too crazy, but reducing it by over half is a good step. I’d have to see the exact updated costs to see if I feel like it’s too much still personally. But it’s good they did something

Wouldn’t it be nice if blizzard changed the mount system so that you can only use mounts if you purchase at least one wow token every 30 days?

no clue what your point is.
See my post above for my view on the matter.

My point is that blizzard lets us use our mounts for free, which is more generous than we deserve.

Well they first jacked the price up over 500% so this is still a significant cost increase for transmog’ing so that isn’t really a positive change yet. Can’t really judge it till we know what “significantly reduce the cost to unlock slots” means. If they knock 2 zeros off the cost of unlocking the 20 slots maybe I’ll feel better about it. Until we see what they actually do though, no its not good enough.

I think this is fine tbh. Those extra 30 slots could be things you get years down the line when you have extra gold to dump and nothing to spend it on but slots.

Do you see yourself using 50 set slots right off the bat in Midnight?

Oh, I’ll probably be lucky to reach half those slots. I was just pointing out that Blizzard probably found a way to have their cake and eat it too, which seems to be something people are overlooking at the moment.

I’m one of my word, and I will begrudgingly buy the expansion / re-up my sub when it’s up in feb. I was really hoping that they weren’t going to actually fix this so I could be free of them completely. I already walked away from their diablo series over how they handled that franchise.

does any part of you have that like, cynical idea that they did this because this was the one thing in midnight that people are mad about that they can actually change?

i admit it’s kind of simmering in the back of my head

But this is exactly how they should have their cake and eat it too.

50 account wide slots is more than i could ever dream of using, and i use transmog more than most people on the forums i think. If they’re going to cash cow the slots, it should be the on the extra 30 slots

I’m not agreeing or disagreeing with the practice. It’s just something I wanted to point out so others aren’t surprised to see the originally planned gold sink return in some fashion.

It’s better, still crazy the cost. Still waiting for the option to not use the new system

lol

Anyhow, moving on from that nonsense rapidly, this is a step in the right direction.

There’s a lot I go back in fourth over. If I throw on my tinfoil hat, this could have been a “big ask” tactic tied to a red herring. So all of us go up in arms over a manufactured problem they never intended to send to live to begin with, only to “fix” it and quell the fires they started themselves. Then people believing it to be a form of good will stay with them as a result.

However, realistically I don’t think it was that. I legit think it was a case of them thinking it wouldn’t be that big of a deal and they could push it through without too many people giving a rip. I don’t think they realize how many people would be furious over it, and settle with the thought of “well it’s just a one time purchase after all, then I get it forever!”

This is much improved. While the new price is still higher than the live price, it will now only take ~1 full equipment replacement to break even with the current system, as compared to ~5 complete replacements at the previous price point. This is much more reasonable, and I’m satisfied with this change.

For max level characters. The people using this system on beta have been reporting that the price point no longer scales in any way with level, which is a major problem. Even if the price eventually evens out over the dozens of pieces of gear a leveling character will go through, the upfront cost makes this price impossible for a new alt to afford off their own gold income for quite a while, let alone for any new player without a preexisting gold stash.

The Blue post relaying these updates mentions nothing about making any such changes, but level scaling is a major QoL issue for alts, and an absolute must for new players.

After that, my only concern is that I’m already outfit capped on a number of my characters, and will have to decide which outfits to delete to make room for the new situational mog sys–

Continuing the discussion from Transmog Beta Updates - November 25:

LET’S BLANKIN’ GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

I say keep the pressure up.

Blizz doesn’t get to put on a white hat because they’re making a less onerous move.

Keep pushing until transmog is free, make Blizz actually give ground on something as pain for their attempt to screw us.

I don’t see that happening. This kind of change was simply inevitable and everyone knew it in some part of them. They are doing this as a “See? We’re listening to you” kind of token change when they blatantly just went too far out of the gate. They knew it, we knew it, everyone knew it.

Even if they never give, I will keep beating the drum.

I am that disgusted.

I’ll enjoy the music and hope it pays off.
