Blizzard has made billions on WoW off of subscriptions. As a subscription holder, I should have access to my game when I want. The population problem should never have happened to begin with. Blizzard knew more then 2 years ago there would be an influx of subscribers because WotLK was their most popular expansion.
They could have months ago cut off transfers to Faerlina, Grob and Benediction. Instead they allowed money transfers to happen because they know people will pay to go to, then pay to get off the server when they are waiting 4hrs to get online. They forced people off of servers because it will save them money. Where Blizzard really screwed up was free transfers to the 3 mega servers. I am sure they saw $$ when people wanted to transfer to one of the 3 mega servers. Blizzard has always tried to make money at the expense of its own subscription base. No matter how much Blizzard messes up, WoW players are too loyal and forgiving.
Blizz should have had a prediction, analysis and response unit or swat unit for their expansions, population balance problem and their BOT PROBLEM. They had the information in advance to deal with all these problems⌠because these were problems that plagued them 18 years ago⌠they purposely fail to use it.

So if I have a 70 alt on another realm and want to move it to my main realm with 5 other 70s that are on Faerlina, thatâs no longer possible?
Easy money if you let me do it.
am I missing something ? Whatâs the appeal to a server with 0 ppl? Itâs not fresh either because ur bringing your mains and gold.

Eranikus has no boats spawning at all⌠please restart the server or something
âThereâs no technology solution to this. There is no hardware solution to this.â Microsoft attempting to buy this company told international governing bodies that Acti/Blizz had nothing unique about its games, they are just a generic gaming company and it wont effect the market with their buyout. Turns out theyre not only generic in their ipâs, but also their technology is lacking. Sadge
It is not that there is no technology solution. It is an unwillingness to look at technology solutions.
Here is what I think is going on⌠(FWIW)
Wrath represents the end of their roadmap for classic. So, there is really no desire to rework the technology or infrastructure. It makes zero financial sense to solve this with technology. So, they will just shuffle people around until the noise settles and then quietly put classic on a âsustainingâ path as far as engineering goes.
This is why they can feel comfortable making statements about being heavy handed. They are going to do what is best and easiest for them and then move onâŚ

There are upwards of 10k-15k+ players in queue to get into a server that can hold 15k concurrent players max. That means there would need to be 8k-12k+ transfers for there to be any real impact and I just donât see that happening. What if only 3k-5k transfer off and queue times are still 3+ hours every day? What if there are incentives offered but players still donât want to transfer off? I donât see any other plausible solution.
That seems plausible and while disappointing I suppose I understand that reason from a financial standpoint.
If part of the shuffle them to muffle them plan is for involuntary migrations then I am not okay with that. Whatâs âbest and easiest for themâ isnât what I perceive to be healthy for the game - even one in maintenance mode.
I appreciate your speculative insight and acknowledge that the issue of being unwilling to look at certain solutions had crossed my mind as well. The message, though communication from Blizzard is welcome, did not provide much information on any other options (save the usual magical transfers) that they might consider. Hope that there will be some elaboration but not holding my breath.
I have a group of people willing to xfer or pay to xfer to another realm but theyâre locked because we all transferred to Benediction 30-40 days ago. Are you planning on unlocking the 90 day restriction so we can move off the server to one of our choice. Many of us donât want to risk new unestablished servers and would rather deal with queues because the new servers could just die⌠or faction balance just goes to crap.

This sort of communication is welcome to the players in these realms, I am sure. I thank you and the others for talking about these recent issues (servers and bans) with the community, helps restore some faith at least in the Classic project.
You guys are doing this on purpose to make money off transfers. Will it be free to leave this new server once it dies to go back to Faerlina, Grobb or Bene? No? You guys have the data to suggest in a few months time servers that are not the mega servers are likely to have a significantly reduced population. There are two possibilities. Either the team is a bunch of incompetent fools or they are doing this on purpose to cash in on all the paid transfers in a few months time.
Edit
You guys obviously have the ability to add servers. You just did. Why not add Faerlina 2, Benediction 2 and Grobbulus 2 etc and shut them down when the main ones no longer have queue times? Or is that not profitable enough?
People are paying a monthly premium to play this game but what in the godam are we paying for ?
Just unsubscribe and play something else. Blizzard has no intention of delivering the service that people are paying monthly for.

There was no full server warning when I joined bene lol
Thatâs great except the longevity of that situation is in question. Will Old Blanchy be populous enough mid-wotlk? The ToGC phase will see a massive player drop and you donât want to be on the âgood enoughâ servers when that happens. Blizzard is slow to offer players an olive branch in those situations because you bet they love when you pay to transfer.
He took the transfer and is now scared that the server isnât going to work out. Due to his emotional damage he is lashing out everyone else.
No one wants to move to a dead realm or a realm where they are the super minority faction (I lived thru this on Earthfury). They could easily change the words âFullâ or âHighâ with bars for population. One red and one blue. It doesnât give away their precious numbers but it lets the population make informed decisions on where they want to move.
how about stop making the mistake they made in retail in trying to force players to play the way you want, and instead, fix your servers since you patched to wrath.
there were zero queues on bene going into wrath, and a 15,000 person queue on the day the pre patch went live? i find it hard to believe the classic community has nearly doubled in size on benediction with the release of wrath. that sounds like blizzard bottlenecking to try to break up the mega server that the players enjoy.
Need a new RP server since you ruined the only one available
@Kaivax What about transfers for players stuck on dead factions like Whitemane (A) that have no realistic transfer options (even paid)??
then enjoy quus if you like streamer servers
