I run a fairly large (10k+) discord on benediction and polled our players, the vast majority would rather have “large pop, healthy realms with a queue” than a potentially dead populated server with a “high pop”.
Please consider not closing the Sulfuras transfers until there’s a queue.
Any ideas are a good start, but Blizz would never implement this. Leaving que times and forcing players to transfer is just to good of a soution for blizzard. Its hitting 4 birds with one stone. It coveres over population, reviving dead servers, balancing server factions, and negates having to upgrade their server hardware, not to mention its already implemented and completely automated… so it costs blizzard nothing. Its way easier for blizzard to make us fix their problem than for them to do it themselves. I really dont see them attempting to find any other solutions, especially with sulfuras transfers “working”. Its crappy, but what can we do?

My guild has members that joined just prior to pre-patch to get ready for Wrath. I wouldn’t want to see these individuals forcibly removed from the server. What has happened to Bonez’s group is awful and so discouraging. I feel that forced migration is going to result in poor outcomes and players leaving in droves. I admit that some might see that as a win and cut queue times but I feel that we all (that includes Blizzard) can do better.
*sorry to pull you in that way, Bonez, and I feel terrible this happened to you and your friends but I suspect this is going to continue to happen unfortunately when more could and should be done

I see an update that Sulfuras should be open for free transfer until tomorrow, however, when I try to start a transfer, It is trying to charge me. Am I doing something wrong? Thank you for the help.
I understand the reasons for only opening new servers when needed, but as someone who was originally on Deviate Delight and now is on Grobbulus specifically because they were RP-PvP servers, there’s nowhere for me and my guild to go. I’d be happy to take a free server migration if I knew I’d end up on a populated, balanced, RP-PvP server on the other side, but that’s simply not an option. We are forced to either endure several hour long queues or give up parts of the game we all find very important to us. I wish I had more to say, it just sucks feeling like an afterthought, like most people, blizzard included, forget about the RP part of Grobb being an RP-PvP server. On that note, I also find it very annoying that DD got merged in to Sulfuras, because I did know people who were considering returning and expecting to still be on an RP-PvP server, who have decided against it because they cant be on an RP server that also happens to be where everyone they knew ended up
I don’t like change and if there is one thing I can rely on it’s Blizzard always making poor decisions and blaming the consumer.

Any chance of implimenting a system where if server population ends up with too many more of one faction on a PvP server, it stops free transfers of that faction until the other one catches up?
I haven’t been able to play in the afternoon/evening because the queue time would literally be “I get in at Midnight” if I started just after dinner. But I also came to Grobbulus because I like wPvP and it’s the only faction balanced PvP server. (At least according to IFPro)
I don’t want to end up on a fake PvP server like Faerlina, and I don’t want to end up being the only horde player trying to level on Benediction…I might as well uninstall at that point.
How can we know that the PvP servers we’d be transferring to aren’t just Smaller versions of Faerlina or Benediction?
You can’t. You have to take a chance with the transfer and hope the server doesn’t die in 6 months.
PLEASE let our friends and family members transfer from servers like WHITEMANE to ERANIKUS.
People coming back to the game could not play with us because of Grobbulus ques, and now they are gatekept from playing with us because Eranikus is locked from all the other servers.
ATLEAST allow us to PAY to transfer to Eranikus from servers like Whitemane.
Not doing so is disrupting the community more than you may realize.
Yeah, I’ve talked about this before in this thread and in some posts.
In the last 3 months for Earthfury:
#1 They gave free transfers off (Until like August 15th) and never posted about it anywhere at all, only the players knew by word of mouth as Blizzard literally said nothing ever, reducing the population.
#2 They closed the server to “consolidate” with no notice, updated their list to say that Earthfury was going to Sulfuras, put out a tweet on Twitter saying that “Earthfury is a Classic Era only server”, and then said on the forums " Whoopsie, Earthfury is a special case!". I will give them credit for bringing it back but what was that?
#3 They give free transfers to Sulfuras/OB which sure they wanted to repopulate Sulfuras first and give a PVE option. Then they skip it over again because they want some new server that wasn’t tainted where people could have their names or something, who knows, but to me, this is like taking an old dog to an animal shelter and then adopting a new puppy.
So yes, I’ll keep going with Earthfury now being the red-headed stepchild of servers to Blizzard.
I would Add that they should just allow Free Xfers from High Pop Realms AND Low Pop Realms to other Low Pop Realms during this turbulent time.
If people are able to play with friends again they’ll likely stick around and pay a Subscription, but as things stand there isn’t much of a Home we all can safely land on (I run with a group of 8 players).
