It’s actually more similar to the banning of the swimsuits in the 2008/09 ish years. They were available to everyone but hurt the sport so they were banned.
Yes it is an actual fact. It’s why every other blizzard game, and other developers, don’t have the option to modify in game files. So yes blizzard purposely created the game with the intention of players using add-ons. In the past some add-ons have been banned because they were considered cheating…the add-ons mentioned in the original post do nothing to give the player a cheating advantage over another player.
Also on a side note…with the global cooldowns now effecting so many spells it’s not as if you can make macros to do your entire rotation anymore. Yah there’s some macros you can make (ie mouse over macros or a few spells/trinkets on use macros) but none of them are wild enough to state “this players cheating!”

Needed to be a default component of the base Ui since the day it was invented, that is how Good that addon is, and how non harmful it is.
While I agree with the core sentiment, the Macros aren’t entirely the issue, the issue is they allow us to use macro to do things other than condense keybinds.
What I’m talking about is that macro are fine long as its super basic stuff like turning a single key into 4 different skills based on modifies like CTRL, ALT and Shift.
I’m somewhat on the fence about Arena 1,2,3, but thing is those really shouldn’t directly tie to spells, instead requiring 2 key press to target then cast, buuuut this is my personal feelings because I know how they can be abused by bots and scripts to obfuscate the cheating.

Get rid of addons and improve blizz ui for buffs/debuffs

Activision has proven they 100% can detect and ban for it very quickly in CoD.
I don’t use add-ons or macros. It doesn’t bother me that other people do.

The problem with posts like these is, even if they abolish macros and add-ons, everyone crying for the change will still suck and get steamrolled by players that were using them. You’ll only be making the game worse for everyone else while still not getting what you truly want, which is to get good.

You can play this game without addons. I have since TBC and the only addon I use is details.
Keybinds and macros have been in the game sine the design of wow. If I spreas my button to focus you thats not cheating thats you just not adapting to minor mechincs i have see. Glads get glad without addons as a challenge the only issue they ran into was keeping cc timer for when it reset but we use to use the ingame timer for cc tracking not easier just more convenient you wouldnt understand because your base skill and level are low dont like to dis but man if this is why you think the game is too easy youre crazy mechnics are insane some fun some bad just play the game and stop crying.
