Maybe we can add these servers in so that those of us who actually wanna play without cheaters can.
Or maybe simplify the game and just remove many of these “nannies”.
Regardless of the fact people are cheating addons is out of control.
The Mes weak aura. Gladiatorlosa.
Think how much better they could design games if we weren’t cheesing the regular mechanics. Sheeets gotten so complicated because we use addons and macros to make it easier and easier.
Then we got the cheaters who apparently aren’t good enough to play the same game as everyone else
Addons and Macros have made the game so messy because the devs have to design around them.
They are crutches. But instead of making the game better they have made it just contain so much fluff so that we feel challenged, despite using every tool to make it less challenging.
Plater is too handy to see defensives, CC, buffs, and debuffs. If Blizzard had nameplates that showed that content as easily I would support this, but as they don’t currently, now is not the time.
Lets see. Not having to target people but instead having a keybind for doing so. Yep that makes it easier. OK.
Platebuffs puts things that you wouldn’t normally see into your visuals. Simple buffs next to names that would be a lot harder to see without that addon.
Yeah at the very minimum Weak Auras (and possibly DBM for PvE purposes) needs to be looked at.
I would love for them to take a commitment to quality and begin working on gameplay readability. It’s a little ridiculous that there are minimal visuals for some spells and you might not even notice they were used. I think some kicks don’t even have a distinct animation.
So because Blizz has neglected their UI for a long time, (Due to laziness, and better third party creators or whatever lol.) I can’t make my game look better and feel nicer and be more intuitive?
Not everyone is cheating or using addons to play the game for them, bro
Macros and simple addons like platebuffs do not trivialize any part of the game or make it harder on the devs. Weak Auras you can make this argument with.
And complexity in areas of the game is a bad thing?
This sounds like the typical, “I suck at the game so I’ll cope by blaming things other then my lack of ability”. I can assure you people using arena 123 macros and simple addons like platebuffs aren’t gate keeping you from your desired achievements in this game lol.
This would be very nice to have just in the native UI. They’ve done a lot of great enhancements to the UI this expansion; I can see them adding this too.
While I agree with what I think the OP’s sentiment is, I disagree on the blanket ban of all macros and addons.
For example you can pry rematch from my cold dead fingers. Battle pets are extremely tedious without rematch, it doesn’t add anything that doesn’t otherwise exist in a less efficient form. Same goes for weak auras that track duration of spells or cool downs.
Similarly macros like target of target spell casting are useful and baseline features for other mmos. Or combining cool down skills with use trinkets. Or help harm to reduce the number of hotkeys required. Blizzard just hasn’t added them in as base options yet like they did with mouse casting.
If you want a world without any add-ons or macros, blizzard needs to make a game that does all the same things.
Ultimately blizz can’t remove add-ons or macros without changing encounter design either. I don’t think a server with 0 add-ons and macros is going to be as fun as you might think.
I wouldn’t be opposed to a more targeted ban or limitations in certain content however. Arena add-ons and macros do provide an insane amount of information and utility for free. Limiting that information would probably be beneficial in the long run.
Right? I had hoped they’d make a sort of “template macro creator” or something and add arena support for partners kind of like what we have in dynamicmacros.
I can put in @healer for my macro, throw it into DM and just like that the ability will always be cast on the healer. Similar with DPS partners so I never have to see where they are on the frames or swap names.
Yeah this is my particular argument when I advocate for “less” macros and addons. They are kind of just a bandaid solution for poor development. I shouldn’t have to do pseudo-coding to play a game like this in this day and age.
Some sort of ingame UI that facilitates macros and makes a lot of addons baseline should be a bare minimum in an industry standard like WoW. Even little prompts like you get in Excel when constructing a function or in some ETL platforms when writing a line of code would go a long way.
I know they are different games, but LoL has the best UI/UX of any game I’ve ever played. There’s rarely ever a time where I’m like “damn, I wish that existed” or “i wish that could look differently.” And if there is I can just configure something on the settings to make it to my liking.
