Iām guessing it could lead up to that Rootlands area that was rumored to be in. It could be a dire situation where the Harronir/Haranir are open to working with outsiders.
As for them being an Allied Race, Iām not against the idea, though Iām still keeping an open mind. Part of me wonders if they do become playable, if they would tie that into a Midnight feature as a neutral race. Granted, Iād prefer to see other races playable in it (Horde Sanālayn as an example) when it comes to uniting Elf tribes. Orā¦wellā¦existing races people have been requesting to become playable for years.
I will say the Harronir/Haranir are a lot more interesting than the Earthen, even if they seem to be mostly male Night Elves and female Trolls. And no, it isnāt because theyāre Elf-like. They look visually distinctive compared to Earthen who tend to look like Dwarves who got massive food/ale poisoning.
The Harrornir/Haranir also feel like they have more weight in their story and lore while the Earthen, which to be fair can be a neat concept, just feels banal overall. Not helping things are how the Wildhammers got treated and pushed aside in favor of Earthen, but Iāve grumbled enough about it to type up yet another thesis paper.
Really best to keep an open mind, seeing as it seemed like Tuskarr were being set up to become playable in Dragonflight andā¦nothing.
I would hope so as well. Especially given that the Harronir/Haranir have been isolationists before. I donāt want to make a new race of any kind, only to find out that off screen, the Horde/Alliance were like: āYo, you guys are totally cool. Want in?ā Iām hoping we actually see future playable races bond with and join their respective factions and have a reason to join.
And in the case of members of factions already like Ogres, just show them getting full membership of a faction. Much like how the Dark Iron Dwarves got officially invited to the Alliance.
In what context? In TWW? Or throughout the new couple of expansions?
When it comes to newer races, I can see Blizzard lean towards making them neutral, which I assume the Harronir/Haranir would likely be, to save on resources. Granted, I donāt think every future playable race should be neutral, as many races really only fit one faction or another.
I think it is possible weāll see a few more playable races of some sort between now and The Light Titan, and likely past then also. I do hope they would be ones that exist and are ones people have been requesting for quite some time, and I mean in general and not specifically Ogres (though they would be among those!).
Weāll see what happens when/if it happens, I guess.
-11 days until the Warcraft Direct! (Nov. 13th)
-Dream big, Ogre fans!
At any point going forward, either as apart of an expansion launch or during an expansion itself. The way I see it weāve had paired races announced since BC with the Blood Elf and Draenei, with singular race announcements here and there starting with the Pandaren in Mists, and then BfA started us with four new playable races (Nightborne, Highmountain Tauren, Lightforged Draenei, and Void Elves). So I canāt think of a reason why Blizzard couldnāt reveal three new playable races where one is Alliance, one is Horde, and the last is open to both.
I can see that happening, especially with what we know of the Harronir. They are a secretive race with a sacred charge. Them coming under threat and us aiding them could easily create bonds. Thus while other Harronir will remain focused on their charge or aiding in restoring/fixing whatever damage occurred, others can decide to venture forth.
Though when it comes to Neutral races, there is the question on what neutral path they would follow. Like would they have distinct groups within the factions, like the Pandaren and Dracthyr do, or be an individual choice as presented with the Earthen.
I 110% agree with this. We do have races that are more aligned with one faction over the other.
We have Ogres within the Horde and there is not a single Ogre clan that strictly has positive relations with the Alliance. Most Forest Trolls hate elves for claiming their territory and creating QuelāThalas and the humans for helping them in the Troll Wars, and so they hate the Alliance and the Horde. However the Revantusk tribe have moved past this hatred and joined the Horde. In Exploring Northrend, the Taunka make it clear that they are not interest in forming relations with the Alliance and remain with the Horde.
On the flipside, only the Alliance has outright worked worked with Jinyu/Ankoan tribes, weāve seen Broken in the ranks of the Alliance and frankly it would make more sense from a story perspective to have their people uniting over a group of Broken breaking off and joining the Horde. The Stillpine Furbolg are apart of the Alliance as are the Frostborn.
Looking at the rewards from the anniversary event, I thought about Ogres wearing the Warrior gear set you can get and being a bit amused:
While it isnāt entirely fitting for an Ogre, I was mostly thinking about the helm. Something about having a giant blade on top made me think of Ogres for some reason. Imagine if a two-headed Ogre Warrior had such helmets on. Especially when charging at an enemy.
Just a fun thought I wanted to share.

I canāt unsee it now.
The enemy shall flee in terror.
We may not have much in the way of Ogres during the anniversary celebration, but that doesnāt mean the Horde Ogre clans should be forgotten! And we can help them with a new round of in-game feedback!
With the beginning of each month, I make in-game suggestions for each race I want to see playable along with a mention of their respective megathreads on these forums. While it is far from a guarantee of seeing our dreams come true, I do think every little bit helps, and doing it monthly I feel is reasonable and not that intrusive or annoying.
If youāre interested in doing the same for races you want to see playable, I made a little guide on how to do so in-game here:
Remember, it aināt over until itās Ogre!
-9 days until the Warcraft Direct! (Nov. 13th)

TBH, the ogre body frame as it currently exists in game should have been an option for pandaren.
That gripe aside, if ogres becomes playable you can bet your brass buttons Iāll be race changing back to the horde (unless armor rigging on them is clip-hell).
I just found the Black Market Auction House at the Anniversary Event and one of the guards is an Ogre. So thereās another confirmed Ogre during the event.
Edit: For those like me who were unaware, the BMAH is under the Fashion Frenzy tent.
Indeed! Though this Ogre is just a hired hand for the Black Market Auction House. You canāt really interact with him, so he just stares at you menacingly in case he thinks he needs to wreck your face for some reason.
So at least there are two Ogre sightings at this event so far, though there doesnāt seen to be any signs of the Horde Ogre Clans visiting, unfortunately. Wouldāve been neat to see Tharg and some of the other MU Stonemaul Clan NPCās at the very least. Maybe Megs Dreadshredder standing around and talking about the Dunemaul Clan would also be good to see.
Also, as you may know, itās Election Day for those in the USA! Makes me wish I had an image of an Ogre wearing one of those USA top hats or something to post for the occasion.
Regardless, I imagine itāll be pretty crazy out there as the day goes on, so whatever your plans are, please take care and stay safe!

https://www.wowhead.com/news/warcraft-ii-remastered-internal-alpha-new-blizzard-catalog-entry-added-349660
āBlizzard has pushed an update to their CDNs that includes a new title, āWarcraft II: Remastered Internal Alpha.ā This update also adds initial background images and logos for the likely upcoming product.ā
This is something that I did not expect. It honestly makes me curious on how this will go down. Will it just be an updated Warcraft 2 with higher graphics or a lore more accurate account of the Second War, and potentially the Invasion of Draenor? If the later will it be itās own game or a campaign within Warcraft 3 Reforged?
Iām thinking that itās going to be a more accurate account of the Second War that will be available within Warcraft 3 Reforged. After all they were originally going to have an update lore accurate version of the First War with the game as seen belowā¦ I kind of wonder if weāll get that as well now.
https://warcraft.wiki.gg/wiki/Warcraft_III:_Reforged:_The_First_War
I decided to share since here since this game/campaign would feature Ogres.
You know how the Spoils of War edition of Warcraft 3 Reforged gave multiplayer unit skins (ex: Champion of the Horde Thrall replacing the Far Seer)?
Should we get War2 remade in War3, I canāt help but wonder if weāll get more multiplayer unit skins. For example say replacing the Tauren Chieftain with a Choāgall/Dentarg skin or even the option to switch between the War2 and War3 Horde to play during multiplayer.
how big would theybe
Decently big I would hope. I imagine the playable Ogre model to be at least a bit bigger than Tauren.
I went through Wowhead and found the Holiday Celebrant NPC model of the Ogre NPC, which you can see in the models section:
And if this link works, itāll load the animated version of the model:
Still no way of knowing what clan this Ogre came from. I donāt recall there being any blue themed Horde Ogre clan Ogres, so itās probably a random Ogre clan. I mean, we see NPCās like Quillboars and Mogu there, so itās not something meant to think too hard on.
I do think with playable Ogres, we should be able to have a variety of tattoo colors. It would be nice if you can change the color of the loincloth and whatever female Ogres would get, though if I recall correctly, I donāt think any of the current playable races have the ability to change the color of their undies or whatever they wear. So Iām not sure that would be an option.
I still havenāt seen this Ogre NPC unfortunately, whether itās from the Vanilla or Cataclysm NPC sets. Been having a lot of bad luck with the NPC spawns, and I donāt know how often they respawn and when the expansion themes shift. I donāt know if there are any WoD themed NPCās, as I didnāt see any searching on Wowhead. If there are, Iām curious if there could be any other Ogre Holiday Celebrants in that case.
Iāll keep an eye out just in case.
-6 days until the Warcraft Direct! (Nov. 13th)
-Dream big, Ogre fans!
So Lantresor is on the anniversary and seems like he wants his Clan the Boulderfist to join the Horde. Prayer circle it means we finally have them as a real race instead of mobs.
We are six days from the Warcraft Direct.
When it comes to any potential race announcements, I canāt help but recall how nothing about Battle for Azeroth screamed AU Magāhar and how the Manāari (hyped as WoWās first playable demons) were randomly inserted in Dragonflight. Granted itās good to temper expectations, but it is something to consider.
Now when it comes to Ogres themselves. I do feel that there is always a chance. We have Ogre clans already in the Horde and I canāt help but feel teased with Lantressorās dialogue at the Bronze Celebration. At the very least with whatever Warcraft 2 announcement Blizzard will have should at least show us Ogres at the event, especially since the context would likely be them fighting with the Horde.
I have to admit that I rather like the idea of the RTS section being covered first, Blizzard doing their Warcraft 2 Remaster announcements, show casing how Ogres fought with the Horde during the Wars, and then when we get to WoW section them revealing playable Ogres. Though time will tell.
Didnāt know that. Can I watch that on youtobe or the Blizzard page?
The Warcraft Direct will be on 11/13/24 at 10:00 AM PST and will stream via Twitch, YouTube, and TikTok.
Obviously Iām always crossing my fingers for playable ogres, but when I thought about this, I got excited just for that - Blizzard making a big deal out of the game that had ogres as one of the major Horde races.
I honestly havenāt really seen much gameplay of the first two Warcraft RTS games, though I know Ogres are units in them. I usually hear about them being used in various tactics, so I assume they were a really helpful unit in Warcraft 1 and 2.
As I said before, while I donāt expect playable Horde Ogres as an announcement in this upcoming event, it would be a really fitting time to do so. Granted, Iām not really sure what the Alliance counterpart would be if it did happen.
With Metzen having involvement again, is it possible that Naga could be the Alliance counterpart? Iām honestly not sure what the popular consensus would be on what faction they would join, aside from possibly being neutral, but it was a thought since he had wanted Naga and Ogres playable before. Part of me feels like those chances may have gone up a bit.
Iām still more of a fan of Furbolg as the Alliance counterpart to Horde Ogres, but that is just me. Still, they have had a lot of history in Warcraft and would add some much needed variety to that faction. Just a personal preference of course.
Whatever the case, itās still best to keep an open mind and keep expectations tempered. Unfortunately, I wonāt be able to watch it live, but Iāll be sure to look at the announcements and post my thoughts as soon as I can.
-5 days until the Warcraft Direct! (Nov. 13th)

Not just you. I think Horde Ogres and Alliance Furbolg would be a great pairing. Though as someone who feels like playable Broken has been seeded, I do wonder if they will end up paired with Ogres.
