With the recent leak about Warcraft 2 Remastered coming out, I’m reminded that my poor, beautiful ogres are still the ONLY race from Warcraft 2 that are not playable in WoW. Bring my boys into the fray, please. Ogre Necromancer hero class, with two heads for two helms. Make it work, Blizzard.
Following lore, single headed ogres would be warriors, hunters, rogues (LOL). Double headed ogres would be mages, warlocks, priests. Mybe shaman could go either way.
Anyway you twist it, with Ogres having been a playable race since the beginning of Warcraft games, it is dishonor! Dishonor on the devs, dishonor on their cows! Dishonor that we have never been given ogres as a Horde playable race.
We can get rewards from watching the Warcraft Direct and the best thing about it is that we don’t have to watch it live. We have at any point when the Warcraft Direct starts on 11/13/24 @ 10 AM until 12/11/24 @ 10 AM to watch the stream on YouTube, Twitch, or TikTok to earn the rewards. You just have to make sure that your Battle.net account is connected with your YouTube, Twitch, or TikTok.
With two-head customization options, I feel like the most likely and best option would be to have the ability to have two-heads for any class.
There have been a few instances of non-magical classes having two-heads. Crol’ka, for example, is suppose to be a warrior but had two heads. And I’m sure there are some who would like to have a non-magical class but still have the ability to have two heads.
Thus why I support it as an option for all classes. It’s also just a personal opinion, of course.
Broken is another possibility, though I don’t know how well they would be received with all the bells and whistles Ogres would have while Alliance get what is effectively a variant of an existing race. Even if Broken would be fairly unique, I can see something like that as an argument.
And yes, I’m aware of the exception of the “Forbidden Alliance race.” I think it’s the only “variant of an existing playable race” that would have enough popularity to work as a pairing with Horde Ogres, even if that combo would break the internet in several ways.
That said, I’m not sure what would be good to pair Alliance Broken with. I still lean towards Horde San’layn for several reasons I’ve gone over before, but I’m sure there could be other possibilities.
-4 days until the Warcraft Direct! (Nov. 13th)
-Dream big, Ogre fans!
Thats how I feel too. We’ve seen examples of two and one headed ogres in all fields so far its just that a two headed ogre has a higher chance of being a magic user.
We should have the choice.
Imagine playable Ogres
It’s easy if you try
Smashed skulls below us
Above us, only sky
Imagine all the Ogres
Crushin’ for The Horde
Ah…
Imagine Ogres among you
It isn’t hard to do
Nothing more to complain about
And no more Elf races, too
Imagine all the Ogres
Livin’ life in Orgrimmar
You…
You may say I’m a dreamer
But I’m not the only one
I hope someday you’ll join us
And Azeroth will be as one
This Wednesday is the Warcraft Direct and I would just love if it we had playable Ogres announced. At the very least with whatever they do with War2, it will serve as a reminder that Ogres have fought under the crimson banner of the Horde.
Now I do work when the stream goes live, so I’ll be checking wowhead on my breaks/lunch, and I’ll most likely share my thoughts when I’m home.
how tall will the ogres be and what color
A montage going across different adventures from expansions in WoW was uploaded by Blizzard:
In addition, a description of the upcoming Warcraft Direct had this regarding WoW:
“20 Years of World of Warcraft: Relive the evolution of the world’s most beloved MMORPG and discover what’s next on the horizon for both WoW Classic and Modern…and a special announcement at the end.”
Special announcement, huh? Not really sure what realistically it could be. I’m really trying to temper expectations and keep an open mind, so I don’t really want to speculate. Though it would make for a really great time to add in playable Horde Ogres finally…
Guess we’ll see what it is when the Warcraft Direct happens. And again, please temper expectations.
-2 days until the Warcraft Direct! (Nov. 13th)
-Dream big, Ogre fans!
Perhaps a new movie or TV show?
I noticed that the stream itself is just 45 minutes. So I’m guessing that it will just be the announcements and any potential deep dives on what’s announced could come later.
With how the Warcraft Direct tomorrow, I just wanted to share my predictions:
- Warcraft 2 Remaster.
- Warcraft 3 Reforged 2.0.
- Mists of Pandaria Classic.
- Patch 11.1 Reveal.
- WoW Road Map.
Now for that surprise announcement I’m thinking that it could be one the following:
- A reveal of somethings coming in the future for retail. Perhaps a Midnight tease in some manner, like say an early preview of the reborn Quel’Thalas.
- Classic + (the YouTubers got me here).
- A new Warcraft movie.
- A Warcraft TV show.
With that all said, I know everyone here would love it if we got an Ogre reveal, even as we temper our expectations. However I thought of a cool way that Blizzard could reveal playable Ogres and decided to share it.
It could start with a video centered around the playable races and let us see how they’ve evolved from Warcraft 1 to WoW. Like Horde side would show off how the orcs looked from War1 to War2 to War3 and then WoW, followed by the Darkspear, Tauren, Forsaken (perhaps represented by zombie unit or ghoul), Blood Elves (Either starting from War2 or War3, depending on if Blizzard focuses on when the identity was claimed), Goblins, and then we have Chen fighting with Rexxar and Rokhan before it flashes to the Pandaren in WoW.
There’s a brief pause as if the video ends and then it flashes “New Horde Playable Race: Ogres.” Which is immediately followed by the evolution of Ogres. When they first appeared in Warcraft 1 as enemy creeps, to Warcraft 2 as they fought alongside the Horde, to Warcraft 3 (either random scenes or when the Stonemaul aided in the Invasion of Theramore), and then to WoW where we get a preview of what classes they can be and random scenes of playable Ogres at work.
I thought I heard rumors of a new movie of some sort being considered. Not entirely sure on the validity of those rumors, though.
Well, the question here is what would the Alliance get? Still a few candidates in such a scenario which would be fairly well received…albeit with one in particular that would really break the internet in many ways.
And I suppose another question is if a new combination of playable races would be added for everyone or just slapped onto the Battle Net shop. I know Ogres would require a lot of work to design, especially with two-head customization options, so I don’t know if they would just be added as opposed to being tied into an expansion feature.
Anyway, soon as I can, I’ll look at the news and help report anything of interest. I’m hoping I’ll be able to watch it ASAP, since I won’t be able to do so live.
And again, please temper expectations. Playable Horde Ogre support will continue afterwards even if they wouldn’t be part of this Direct.
-1 day until the Warcraft Direct! (Nov. 13th)
-Dream big, Ogre fans!
I mean, Alliance could get Jinyu without much of a leap, TBH. They’re already allies from the Pandaria storyline. Hell, depending on what Lady Menethil has been doing all this time, a form of undead could work, too, but it’d be a bigger stretch imo.
I didn’t really think about that.
Though if we go with the RTS theme set up, Blizzard could show Furbolg units. An easy thing would be showing the Barkskin Furbolgs that aided the Night Elves in the Battle of Mount Hyjal. Though if we got Broken, then they could show the Lost Ones we met with Akama.
I would love to get both Ogres and Furbolg in one fell swoop.
Make my damned year.
That would be really cool.
Give us playable Stonemaul Ogres and Stillpine Furbolgs, Blizzard.
I’ve been using the Anniversary to level all my alts to 71 to at least unlock hero talents (even alts who I haven’t leveled since Burning Crusade). It’s given me a fresh perspective on which classes I like again.
I’m actually seriously considering a Survival Hunter ogre now. I’ve considered Hunter before, but it just never felt right for me. Harpooning in and then just blowing everything up, though? Seems like it could be really fun as an ogre. Now, I know the spec is a bit controversial, and maybe I shouldn’t stake my fun on it if it could be majorly changed, but fingers crossed that if it changes again, it’s changed to be more like Rexxar. He’s on the talent page, but I don’t see a mid-range dual throwing axe spec anywhere.
Unexpectedness saw my work needing to change my schedule. So I ended up with the day off after all and did watch the Warcraft Direct live.
Now there were no playable race announcements. Though I did feel Ogre teased as I saw an Ogre during the Warcraft Rumble section and when the Warcraft 2 Remaster was announced, they did show off Ogres units fighting the Alliance.
Anyways the following were announced:
- Warcraft 1 & 2 Remaster.
- Warcraft 3 2.0 which overhauls the the environments, lighting, revamps the user interface, and grants the use of Classic Warcraft 3 assets in War3 Reforged with the ability to mix and match,
-
- You can play Warcraft 3 with the graphics it held when the game first came out.
-
- You can play Warcraft 3 with it’s Reforged graphics.
-
- The example they showed of the mix and match was Rexxar and Rohkan in their classic appearance while the NPCs were in their Reforged appearance.
- Warcraft Rumble for the PC
- Hearthstone announcements.
-
- A Starcraft crossover, where the Starcraft universe is entering Hearthstone.
-
- Into the Emerald Dream, The Shrouded City, and The Heroes of Time expansions throughout 2025.
- WoW Classic
-
- Season of Discovery Phase 7 - Naxxramas and new content with a Scarlet Crusade Instance, and the Adventures in Deadwind Pass.
-
- Mists of Pandaria Classic.
-
- Fresh Classic Progression Servers Coming on November 21st for PvP, Normal PvE, & Hardcore and will progress through BC.
- WoW Retail
-
- Patch 11.0.7 will launch on December 17th.
-
- Patch 11.1.0 Undermine(d).
** Undermine has been been plunged into conflict between the four major Goblin cartels, Steamwheedle, Blackwater, Bilgewater, and, of course, the Venture Company.
** We will align ourselves with the group of our choice and run into notorious goblins like Monte Gazlowe, Renzik “The Shiv”, Baron Revilgaz, Marin Noggenfogger, and more.
** New Raid: Liberation of Undermine. Gallywix is the final boss.
** More details will emerge in the weeks ahead.
- Patch 11.1.0 Undermine(d).
- Special Announcement: Player Housing comes with Midnight.
O.K., I think I’m just seeing what maybe my mind wants to see so maybe someone else can take a look and tell me if I’m seeing things or not.
If you go to the link below you will see the rune from the roadmap.

I was hoping it was related to ogres because I have just about no hope at all for them ever being playable not to mention I find WoW less and less fun. So I looked up Ogre runes and Ogre Waystone popped up. I’ll link it below but can someone tell me if it looks similar or am I just seeing things?
[Ogre Waystone - Item - World of Warcraft](https://www.wowhead.com/item=117491/ogre-waystone#screenshots)
To these old eyes the design looks very similar. Not the actual rock shape but the rune design. Now they did reveal what looks like player housing in Midnight so that could be what it is since it is shaped like a house. I just want to believe it is something related to Ogres since housing doesn’t even sway me. It might have a long time ago but it doesn’t now.
It’s probably housing but I just need someone to smack me with what they see and kind of erase the hope. Thanks in advance.
EDIT: The original 2 RTS games got a remastered release. I loved those two games when the had originally came out. Just hearing the NPC’s brought me back.
