True. I just tried to think of an rival Ogre clan for the Stonemaul and they were the only ones I could think of.
I have to be honest, I would find that hilarious.

Two headed ogre magi would be crazy cool!
Thereās a couple of talking points going through the thread that I want to comment on, but am too lazy to reply and quote to each person. So I hope you guys forgive me for being late and see this nonetheless.
Regarding rival Ogre clans, these are from Outland onlyā¦ I hope they can make it work somehow. Thereās a lot of cool stuff left over there, including but not limited to, main-universe Magāhar, Ogriāla, a better looking version of Lantresor the Blade, and 2 Ogre clans that hate each other.
Lantresor quote, below from wowpedia.
Also from wowpedia,
So weāve got Boulderfist at war with Warmaul.
The second thing Iād like to bring upā¦ Iām just waiting for some random forum user with a W-avatar and low to no post history to roll up on the forums and claim that the Earthen were a passion project of some Developer and we should all be grateful. Thatās what happened with the Mechangomes announcement (knowing how much flak it got) and it happened with the Dracāthyr as well.
Horde got Dwarves before Ogres
Been an Ogre fan since WC2, we dont need 2 genders models, Ogres body choices should just be 1 or 2 heads. Use base rigging of the Kultirans with some rewords for 2 heads. And lets go boys! (Iām Hungry! YOU ALWAYS HUNGRY, Thats why we so fat!)
This Ogre child heard about this Emerald Dream everyone is talking about and is trying to find the right dream that has Ogres on the Horde side of that character creation screen. Itās just a dream right now, but you can help make it a reality!
With the beginning of each month, I make in-game suggestions for each race I want to see playable along with a mention of their respective megathreads on these forums. While it is far from a guarantee of seeing our dreams come true, I do think every little bit helps, and doing it monthly I feel is reasonable and not that intrusive or annoying.
If youāre interested in doing the same for races you want to see playable, I made a little guide on how to do so in-game here:
Blizzard mentioned having 20 years of planning for WoW. Let us hope the Horde Ogres are part of those plans!
-Dream big, Ogre fans!
something funny came to mind since the ogre and moonkin are supposed to share a skeletal rig the boomkin can do the flap animation what would it look like on an ogre?
Iāll be honest Iām still burnt Ogres may never be playable, everything leading up to BlizzCon I swear it felt like they were setting up for Ogres.
Moonkin form and Ogres shared the same rig, animations and all, but then out of nowhere they made Moonkins have unique rig, casting animations and everything, seriously thought they were making sure that none shared anything similar.
So on the announcement of Ogres, which sadly didnāt happen, theyād be unique rather than sharing their rig with Moonkins.
Iām still gutted to be honest, it sort of all looked lined up perfect, previously Chris Metzen did say he wanted Ogres to be playable one day, he comes back to WoW, basically gets promoted, it was like the stars had alignedā¦ yet we get Rock Dwarves for Horde further blurring the lines of faction identity.
Is this Warcraft? Is Horde and Alliance really even a thing anymore?, it seems as every expansion comes faction identity continues to diminish.
The thing with Chris Metzen is that things have been worked on before he got promoted to his current position that couldnāt be shelved to work on something else instead. As I said before, it may be awhile before we see what effect his promotion has on the gameās narrative, and even then, it doesnāt guarantee the game becoming a land of sunshine, sprinkles, and happy puppies and kittens.
What is concerning to me is the the speed of expansions released and the potential budget and resources for each one. Sure, we did recently get Dracthyr that was complex, but that was worked on during Shadowlands which had some lulls during it. It seems like the next three expansions may have the length of Dragonflight, which makes me wonder if we could still see Core Races worked on or if Allied Races, ones that wouldnāt take much effort like Earthen as opposed to making new models like Vulpera or Nightborne even with other race skeletons utilized, would be favored.
Even if they were neutral, I know Ogres would take a lot of work, even if any of the Ogre NPC skeletons were utilized. Moreso with two-head customization options for male and female Ogres. Itās not something I see being done and announced within a year and a half or so from an expansionās release. This isnāt to say it would be impossible, but it is something to think about with future playable races in general.
As for faction identity, yeah I agree about it being diminished. Even with an armistice and being able to group and guild with each faction, I think faction identity is still pretty important to Warcraft for world (of Warcraft!) building and marketing. Itās odd to have Horde Dwarves now, which is the first race to cause peopleās heads to tilt.
Even with Void Elves, you could argue that High Elves were originally Alliance before some of them became Blood Elves and joined the Horde, so it can be fitting there. Nightborne also look much different from Night Elves as opposed to looking like barely edited Night Elves despite utilizing their model skeletons. Dracthyr also utilize a visage form and itās just the female Human model that is at least somewhat reasonable. But Earthen are the first race to make faction identity a bit of a worry of how itāll be handled.
Iām hoping that faction identity will still be a thing to an extent, and that future playable races are either races that clearly belong on a faction, make sense to be neutral, and isnāt just a reason to be lazy and to give the other faction a race just because. If we start to see a trend like Alliance Trolls and Horde Gnomes, Iād start to be very worried.
I still think Ogres are and should be a Horde only race given that the clan that was one of the founding members of the Horde is part of it, but with a variant of Dwarves, a pretty iconic founding member of the Alliance, on the Horde now, it makes me feel like the whole faction identity thing is getting thrown out the window and anything goes when it comes to neutral races at least. Iād take neutral Ogres over nothing, but itās weird to think about it like this.
Regardless, a bunch of Stone Dwarves arenāt going to stop me from supporting playable Horde Ogres, and weāll just keep at it the best we can. Or Iāll keep at it because Iām that dedicated and insane enough to do it.
-Dream big, Ogre fans!
If beating each other up was the only identity the factions had, then sure, Iād say let it all die. Thankfully thereās a lot more. Iāve think being stuck in a certain faction doesnāt do anything for identity. Being able to pick the character you want to play and then the faction that appeals to you, thatās identity. If faction identity was actually important, people would be asking for restrictions to be removed and let people actually play the one they identify with.
Ogres do need to happen. Iād like to see them take the modified ogre rig they used on the male maldraxxus gladiator and develop it further into a better new ogre rig for playable usage.
Probably not lucky enough to get a race, but I wonder if weāll get anything really neat in the last patch of this expansion. We got the dark ranger skin at the end of the last one.
The intent is to have content updates happening around every 8 weeks, and to keep doing that until the expansion releases. Theyāre not ready to talk about them in detail, but they are very exciting and include a lot of things that players have been asking forā¦ as well as some surprises that nobody has any idea are coming.
Its feels like a long shot but since any new playable races would be expected to have been announced with the Earthen, having a .5 or .7 patch introduce other playable races certainly would be an unexpected surprise.
The most important part:
āThere are several developers who love allied races and would love to see the system continue, since itās a cool way to introduce new races. When it feels right to use, they will.ā
So Stonemaul Ogres can still be a thing.
Today is the Blizzcon Q & A, very curious on what is revealed.
Nothing about Ogres or other playable races or even big customizations. Itās a little disappointing.
Wowhead is working on a list of topics discussed in the link below, which at the time I post this, may be worked on still, so check the website later or refresh after some time to see if they update it more:
To be completely honest, I donāt really expect much from Q&Aās in general, and this one was mostly focused on the stuff recently announced in all fairness, so while I am still a bit disappointed, my expectations were tempered.
I tried as best as I could to think of some questions to ask for some of the race request megathreads, though it was pretty hard to think of a question for some of them. Even then, I wouldāve been very surprised if they actually answered some of them to begin with. Ah well. Wonāt stop me from trying whenever they open Q&Aās again in the future.
But if anything, itās a bit of exposure to the concept of race request megathreads in general. Even if we got something like Earthen after supporting various race request megathreads since BfA, I still think itās important to keep giving feedback on playable races and such we want to see in the future. Maybe itāll lead to something, maybe not.
Besides, someone has to make sure the Horde Ogre clans are remembered. Weāll just keep marching on with support for playable Horde Ogres!
-Dream big, Ogre fans!
I kind of wonder if theyāll end DF with more classes open to Dracthyr and/or playable Drakonid. Thatād be really neat, but seems unlikely. If I were adding them, I wouldnāt have said anything for the expansion announcements and left them as a surprise.
Itās starting to feel like Ogres will never happen.
We arenāt allowed to be happy, I guess.
Never ever, ogres are a mythical impossibility at this point
how much ya wanna bet theres a developer on the team that just dislikes ogres as a concept and sees them as nothing more than cannon fodder
i want marāgoks shoulderpads
