I got a couple of Lizardmen related art pieces to share for this post, and surprisingly, theyāre not from DeviantArt this time!
Unfortunately, I donāt know where these originated. As a result, I donāt know the artist/artists involved, so I am unable to give credit for their work. If anyone happens to know, please let me know and I will happily edit this post to give credit.
Here are the art pieces:
Seeing a Lizardman magic user is pretty great in imagining how a Saurok magic user could look like. Makes me think of my Iksar Necromancer and how my potential Saurok Warlock/Necromancer could look. Also the skull staff is a nice touch.
The second image I donāt know the context of the scene, but it kinda helps to imagine how Saurok could look amongst the Hordeā¦well, kinda. There is someone who looks like a Human or Dwarf behind them, so it is not perfect for that. Still, itās neat to see a scene like this.
As usual, Iāll keep hunting for Lizardmen related artwork to share for Saurok idea inspiration. I do think itās helpful to have references, as they can help imagine how playable Saurok could look like or help inspire things like their culture getting more fleshed out.
Necromancer is my most wanted class currently. Speaking only for myself, Iād be fine settling for a Necromancer skin for Warlocks, provided I get called a Necromancer still. It is probably more likely, though new classes do seem to be on the table from the looks of it. Especially since the Legion thing got situated for new classes, even if it is a bit disappointing. At the very least, Warlocks should be a class choice for Saurok if they ever became playable.
I moreso worry about Death Knights not being an option for new races in the future, given the lore of what has been going on with the Death Knights. It still sounds like it is a possibility however, and Blizzard seems interested in opening more race/class combos, so should we get playable Saurok, I hope that would be an option for them. Weāll have to see what happens when we get new races in the future.
I just hope to recreate my Iksar Shadow Knight and Necromancer characters as Saurok someday in WoW.
Looking at various Everquest 1 videos has caused YouTube recommendations to give me some pretty awesome and nostalgic videos. A couple show off a tour of Cabilis, the Iksar capital city in Everquest 1. I wanted to share them for the usual Saurok idea inspiration, since if they ever became playable, theyād need a home of some sort.
This video is a guided tour that talks about some of the locales:
And if youād prefer to look around without voices and donāt mind the āupgradedā Luclin models mixed in with older models, this one is a silent tour:
Cabilis has a lot of meaning for me, since it is where I made my first character in Everquest 1, an Iksar Shadow Knight. Itās also my favorite city in the game. Iād always take my characters and worked on Cabilis faction (aka rep) so my characters could utilize it as a base of operations. It was a long and tedious task, but was worth it for awhile.
In terms of Saurok, I donāt know if theyād be able to get their own capital city if they become playable. They might if they were the focus of an expansion. Otherwise at best, they may just get a racial hub that allied races usually get.
Still, itās worth showing off dwellings of Lizardmen races in other games since Saurok would need some home decorating ideas. I do think waterways and such would be important to them in general, among other aspects. Depending on how Saurok would be treated, I could imagine a similar city to Cabilis that would be really awesome to relax in after a day of questing.
As usual, Iāll continue to find things of Lizardmen interest to share for playable Saurok idea inspiration!
Iksar were designed to have a high swimming skill when you create one. Given the waterways of the city, it makes some sense why it would be that high.
That and Lizardmen races in general usually are great swimmers and have bodies of water where they reside. Iksar from Everquest, Argonians from Elder Scrolls, and Lizardfolk from D&D are great examples. Itās something I would expect from where a playable Saurok faction would reside. Especially considering at least one tribe swam past the mists around Pandaria and got to the Wandering Isle.
As I said, I canāt really say what playable Saurok would have. Whether itād be a capital city, a racial hub somewhere, or just a spot in Orgrimmar. But there are plenty of great ideas for each option.
We see Saurok around water a lot so I suspect theyād probably have some water near em wherever a playable group settled. Though Iām still partial to your concept of them staying in Orgrimmar in that part of the Valley of Spirits I think it was?
But sure, if possible, it would be fine for a Saurok dance for male or female Saurok. I donāt know how easy itād be to implement legally, but for the dance itself, Iām sure something could be done to have the dance flow into each part of the dance.
I found some more videos on leopard geckos I thought Iād share for the usual Saurok idea inspiration. This comes primarily the form of customization options and some potential general things that could be applied to Saurokā¦well, maybe not EVERYTHING in the first video, but you know what I mean.
Videos are here:
As mentioned before, leopard gecko scale patterns would be pretty awesome for Saurok. Especially if you could edit the colors of the pattern. It would make for some really unique Saurok players and awesome looking characters in general.
March has arrived, and with it some new items on the Trading Post should be available:
Not much in the way of Saurok related stuff this month. I suppose with the pirateās hat, you could combine that with the buccaneer outfit from last monthās trading post to have potential pirate Saurok someday. Not out of the question, since Saurok have acted as pirates before.
It does sound like there are some bugs, however. Some people are having problems with items frozen from before not being frozen with the change, as well as previous items gained not functioning right or not being there. Supposedly, Blizzard is working on a fix, but Iām kinda feeling like waiting a bit before doing my monthly activities.
Iāll keep an eye out on Trading Post items each month in case anything Saurok related pops up on there. Not that I expect anything to appear on there, but you never know.
Is it just me or did February just zip by quickly? Ah well, a new month means a new round of in-game feedback of races we want playable!
With the beginning of each month, I make in-game suggestions for each race I want to see playable along with a mention of their respective megathreads on these forums. While it is far from a guarantee of seeing our dreams come true, I do think every little bit helps, and doing it monthly I feel is reasonable and not that intrusive or annoying.
If youāre interested in doing the same for races you want to see playable, I made a little guide on how to do so in-game here:
Gotta keep the dream of seeing some reptiles on that character creation screen alive!
Although I havenāt had time for in-game events, I imagine this video I found would show about how Iād imagine Saurok parties in Orgrimmar going on.
Flashing lights warning in the following video:
Maybe someday we can actually have Saurok parties in Orgrimmar. Perhaps as actual Saurok someday if we get lucky.
On the subject of parties, my birthday is later this month. No particular plans for it of course, but I think you can guess what my birthday wish will involve.
Some news came about recently of future patch related stuff.
First, the release date of 10.0.7 has been revealed. Itāll be released on March 21st (US) and 22nd (Europe).
And the new 10.1 patch has been announced with some details:
As mentioned before, Iām not expecting much in the way of Saurok related stuff in either of these patches, but if something pops up, Iāll be sure to report it. I might look at anything Tarasek related, though they are quite different from Saurok and I donāt think there is much relation between the two.
Dracthyr are alright, even if there are a number of things about them that makes them feel lacking at times, but they donāt scratch that itch for wanting a playable Lizardman race, which is much different from Dragon races.
Iām still hoping Blizzard will keep an open mind on adding reptilian races. As I said before, given we have different flavors of Elves, Dwarves, and such all with completely different cultures, themes, personalities, and such, I feel that itās reasonable to see other reptilian races become playable someday.
Is there any real reason there canāt be more? Just have Bolvar and the horsemen raise some more.
I know itās been a while, but my Death Knight rose 4 in the class hall campaignā¦was there anything given to him that made it so he could do?
