Good news. Blizzard was dying with Activision being so stubborn. Hopefully Microsoft lets them flourish as they should.
Hope we get to see Saurok one day.

Greater funding and resources would be good, but in my opinion, you also need a good direction with said funding and resources too.
I can only speculate how things could improve with some hope of keeping players happy with reason requests would be good, but time will tell if that is the direction they will head in. Iād like to be optimistic, but I also donāt want to fall in the trap into thinking that this will 100% improve things. Itāll be something we see the effects of next year at the earliest, if even then.
Still, I want to keep some hope that things will change at Blizzard and things like player requests within reason are given serious consideration. Especially if Blizzard would have to report to an entity bigger than Activision, keeping players happy, invested, and keep coming back would be one of many solutions to keep that up.
In the meantime, I think itās important to keep supporting races people want playable, customizations for existing playable races, and such. Expectations tempered, but hope still grows within me.
So Dragon Isles seems to be the biggest rumor of the next expansionās theme, and while dragons would have center stage in such an expansion, I do wonder if Saurok have a chance of showing up in some capacity there.
Supposedly, the Dragon Isles would be a place few beings have found or visited. Since different tribes of Saurok are seafaring, both via boats and swimming, Iām wondering if any might have found it and resided on it. I donāt really know what to expect if any had, though Iād hope they would be Horde friendly as least.
I do wonder if some Saurok might revere dragons in some way, somewhat similar to how the Skumblade Tribe worshiped Kros, a Devilsaur wild god, albeit on a less fanatical way of course. It may not be impossible to see such a thing, though I feel like Saurok fit better with things like devilsaurs, dinosaurs, or even giant reptiles in general than dragons. It is an an interesting possibility to keep in mind if we end up going there, though.
Weāll have to see if any show up in any capacity in the next expansion. Obviously, Iāll do some Saurok research if we do come across any. Still hope to see them appear on the Horde side of that character creation screen someday, though!
ā¦I wonder if after the Dragon Isles theyād do an actual rebuild of the world of Azerothā¦
I could see them using the Saurok in service to some dragons thoughā¦ thats not impossible.
This I would hope for as well.
It would make them closeish to non-WoW kobolds in that regard.
Which isnāt horrible.
Like you though Iād prefer they focus on dinos rather than dragos.
I wouldnāt mind seeing a rebuilt Azeroth with Dragon Isles as a new area, similar to Cataclysmās old world revamp with some newer areas for high level questing. More chances for several new playable races that way and everyone of every level gets new stuff to do!
It isnāt impossible. Saurok in general view strength in high regard, and dragons are a pretty tough creature to deal with. It is possible some could follow them in service, though in such a case, Iād hope they would do it and be friendly as opposed to being jobbers for an evil dragon of sorts.
I do think dinosaurs are more fitting with their theme. Especially since some islands near Pandaria have dinosaurs on them, so itād be a good place for them to get eggs and such to raise and train them. Devilsaurs included, so Unāgoro Crater isnāt the only place we could see them somehow get devilsaur mounts or other dinosaur mounts.
As I said before, a lot depends on where we would find a friendly tribe of Saurok that would become the playable race faction whether dinosaurs and/or giant reptiles are involved in their culture or not. But the good thing is there are plenty of options and directions to go with beasts they work with!
Iāve been casually collecting transmogs and mounts from the four covenants, mostly rewards from Necrolords for potential future Saurok characters. Assuming weāre lucky enough to get playable Horde Saurok, I thought I would collect mostly Necrolords rewards, since at least two of my Saurok ideas would involve a death theme of sorts, with possibly a third one depending on the situation. All my Saurok character ideas would be Necrolords, so that works out well.
Recently, I got all four variants of the Necromancer outfit, which is a potential transmog idea Iād have for a Saurok Warlock/Necromancer character. This character I had in mind is based on an Iksar Necromancer character I had before, thus the death theme around them. Iām collecting various undead mounts to have as options for him if I ever get to create him.
A bit of the same goes for my Saurok Death Knight idea, who is based on one of two Iksar Shadow Knights I had in Everquest 1. Plate transmogs are the one armor class I donāt have a lot of transmogs for, since I donāt regularly plate plate based classes, so it is something I want to look into. It is a bit hard to imagine armor transmogs without seeing how it looks on your character, so collecting at least will have options if playable Horde Saurok do such a thing.
I suppose my Saurok Shadow Priest idea, based on my first Iksar Shadow Knight character from Everquest, might have something of a death theme around him too, though this combo kinda depends on a few things. If we get Sethrak playable, this character would become a Sethrak Shadow Priest, or depending on if any other reptilian races become playable. I havenāt given too much thought on this character as a result, and I have a lot of options at least for transmogs.
If I went with my Saurok Survival Hunter idea, likely Iād have him with a traditional dinosaur/reptile theme in terms of mounts. Not too sure what Iād do for transmogs, but Iām sure I could figure something out since I have plenty of transmogs. I mean, this character I post on is my main Horde character and what I consider my āmain mainā since I play him the most. So it makes sense that Iād have mail armor as the most transmogs in my collection.
Anyone have any ideas for their Saurok characters in terms of transmogs and mounts? A lot would depend on what their heritage armor would be and whether the bone armor idea weāve shared before comes true or not. It can be hard to plan ahead without being able to see what it would actually look like in-game, but itās still fun to think about.
Given that Elder Scrolls Online and WoW are going to be sibling MMOās, since Microsoft will own both, Iāve been considering giving ESO a try at some point just for fun.
It isnāt something that would replace WoW, of course. Mostly, I wanted to see firsthand how Argonians, the lizardmen race in the Elder Scrolls series, are like in there and see if I can get any playable Saurok idea inspiration from playing the game. I suppose since theyāll be sibling MMOās, I can even do a bit more Argonian research to share here also. Iāve shared some things about them before, but I feel like delving deeper in their lore, culture, and whatnot now.
Maybe as a result of being sibling MMOās, weāll see both games inspire some things from each other. I personally would love for the Argonians to inspire WoW to consider adding Saurok to the Horde side of that character creation screen! Wishful thinking of course, but still a fun thought.
A few days ago, Mike Ybarra made the following twtitter post about upcoming news for Warcraft and other Blizzard games:
āBlizzard is a big studio and we have talented and growing teams supporting live games as well. Over the coming weeks, youāll be hearing more on that from Warcraft and Overwatch. Diablo will follow. Stay tuned!ā
Iām hoping that this means the next WoW expansion will be announced within the next few weeks. Whatever gets announced, Iāll be sure to report it.
If anything Saurok related comes from the next expansion, Iāll be sure to report that here as well. Hopefully, weāll see some reptiles on that character creation screen sooner than later!
I think at this point Iām gonna go conservative and expect its just an announcement on 9.2 dropping.
Just donāt want to get too excited for nothing potentially.
It wouldnāt surprise me if it was just a 9.2 release date announcement. On the bright side, it would mean the end of Shadowlands, which means an official announcement of the next expansion should be soon afterā¦hopefully.
I know the game is really behind in development, but at least seeing the next expansion announced and its features would help a lot to potentially give us something to look forward to, along with deflating all the āleaksā going on. I donāt mind waiting. I just want to see what is coming up, as well as plan any potential new characters to make if we get new races and/or classes.
Hopefully the next expansionās announcement is sooner than later, and that itāll be much better than the current one.
Iāve often thought that Blizzard not having a clear roadmap for players to be excited for whats coming up next is a major misstep. They donāt have to go into deep explanations or anything but just a hey we expect this to be in this timeframe and such.
Gives folk something to look forward too and with the proper wording of it they can avoid getting peoples hopes too high.
Their lack of communication is a continuing issue for Blizzard (and many other companies) that really I think theyāre much too afraid of.
The issue I see with a roadmap, while it would be nice to see one, is that things could happen to cause plans to change. Weāve seen this with WoD and Shadowlands, since both seemed to have had a lot of content cut and the time between them and the next expansion being shortened. I could see players getting angry if Blizzard couldnāt commit to any roadmap they publicly share as a result.
It is possible we could see announcements/updates become a bit more plentiful under Microsoft, since they seem to have Xbox presentations throughout the year. Maybe we could see things at E3 from Blizzard now, whether it is from Microsoftās presentation or the PC Gaming Show. Not sure if this will end up being the case, but it could be better than only having Blizzcon, which was a bit of a double edged sword.
On one hand, it was good to have an actual event we would see announcements. On the other hand, it was annoying to have barely anything announced during the year just to save things for Blizzcon. Speaking of, who knows what will happen to Blizzcon, even if it remains as a digital-only event.
As of right now, I mostly just want an expansion announcement with its features shown. Shadowlands has beenā¦less than stellar for me, likely going to end up as my least favorite expansion when it is completed, and to have something to look forward to would help a lot. I donāt mind the wait for the expansion to come out, but I would like to see a rainbow of some kind at the end of this storm. Iāll mostly be content if weāre back in the living world (of Warcraft!) at least.
Hopefully, weāll see what is in the future sooner than later!
Came across a neat art piece on DeviantArt. This one is of a Lizardfolk riding a dinosaur, which looks similar to a triceratops. It was uploaded to DeviantArt by the user named āfiratsolhanā on November 19th, 2014.
āLizardfolk1ā by firatsolhan on DeviantArt
This is a neat art piece to show off how Saurok would look pretty neat riding dinosaur or reptilian mounts in general. Itās something I think would be really fitting if Saurok had various types of mounts, including the popular Devilsaur mount idea.
Speaking of mounts, Iām almost at 3,000 attempts to get Son of Galleon to drop. Still hoping itāll drop for me sooner than later, but that 0.02% drop rate is no joke. If I do ever get it, I may consider using it for one of my Saurok characters if they ever become playable. I still keep at it each week, so hopefully I will get lucky on one of my characters!
Iāll continue to keep an eye out for anything of interest for Saurok idea inspiration!
So it was recently announced that some features of WoW are going to become cross-faction:
Itās pretty exciting news, as I feel like more things could become cross-faction in the future.
Generally speaking, Iāve liked the idea of being able to group up with the other faction at times, especially if it removes the faction-tagging of mobs on PvE servers. However, I do understand with how the storylines have been and with how the war part of Warcraft is iconic and has meaning. So realistically, I donāt know how far cross-faction will go, but I could see more features becoming it.
My own personal opinion is that I think itās a good direction for the game. Itāll be neat to be able to make friends and do stuff with others regardless of what faction I play. I donāt know if Iād ever be able to walk into Alliance cities, though if it wouldnāt wreck my Horde reps, Iād be happy to do the work needed to be able to be in Horde and Alliance cities for all my characters if it got to that point.
Back in the days of Everquest 1, I use to take my non-Iksar characters and work with getting them liked by the Iksar so I could use their capital city as a home base. It took a long, long time to do it (I think about a couple months of so), but it was worth it at the time to have a city to be able to train and bank at while enjoying the stares of people wondering how I accomplished that feat.
Anyway, something important about this is that it does seem like Blizzard is considering player requests in general on some things. As a result, it gives me some hope that theyāll see the requests for new races and customizations for existing races, so it gives me a bit of motivation to keep going with supporting race request megathreads in general. Canāt say itās a guarantee, but itās still worth continuing onward, in my opinion.
Maybe weāll get lucky and get some reptiles on that character creation screen, finally. We can only hope and keep trying!
Once againā¦ I hope that this rash of Blizzard delivering on player requests means things like the Saurok and other ARs and customizations are coming in our near future.
In an interview with Ion Hazzikostas, there will apparently be less focus on the faction war of any kind in the future:
Iām going to guess we might see a kerfuffle here and there, but it seems like the faction war in general wonāt get to be anything big again like with BfA.
Honestly, I do like the idea of being able to group with anyone, regardless of faction. Iām more of the type to want to help out others as opposed to impeding them because of PvP stuff, so the option to be able to group and do things with the opposite faction is going to be useful going forward.
I still feel like itāll open the doors for cross faction stuff to expand in the future. I imagine right now, baby steps are being taken to see how it functions in-game, how people are receptive to it, and seeing if itāll be possible to allow more things in the future like cross faction guilds. Weāll have to see how far itāll go as time goes on, but I hope it does expand in the future.
Of course, factions will continue to exist, so I do expect to see new races for both Horde and Alliance in the future, with whatever races that do join pledging their allegiance to whatever faction they do join. I still expect to see at least a pair of new races when we see any get added as a result.
And the allied race system could still be utilized. New races may join the Horde or Alliance for reasons other than to join up a war with the other faction. Sure, there will be some kerfuffles that causes them to engage the other faction, but Iām sure there would be some good reasons other than warfare for the Alliance or Horde to seek out new members and vice versa.
Thus the quest to support playable Horde Saurok continues onward! As I said, Iām hoping theyāll take the new playable race and customization option requests into consideration for the near future. Not just races I want to see playable, but others that have been requested for quite some time. Itād be a good way to earn some trust and popularity again, in my opinion!
So Iām going through a bit of a snowstorm, where lots of snow is coming down in temperatures colder than a bankerās heart for several days. It isnāt quit the snowpocalypse the weather people were worried about, but in case I donāt post a lot, chances are I may be trying to not become a lizard popsicle or something in a power outage. Luckily, the chances for that seems fairly low so far.
What helps to keep me warm is the fiery passion I have for the races I want to see playable! Folks, a new month has started, and I have done the usual routine of sending in-game suggestions for the races I want to see playable along with referring to their respective megathreads.
If youāre interested in doing this for the races you want playable, I have a little guide showing you the steps to do that here:
Every little bit helps!
Dragons seem to be on the mind of people lately, given that Dragon Isles seems to be the biggest rumor of what the next expansion is going to be based on. With that, some of the rumors of new races are have been Dragonflight members and, on a lesser degree, a Dragonkin race of some kind.
Iām not against either of those ideas at all, but my hope is that if either becomes a reality, that it doesnāt act as the be-all-end-all definitive reptilian race for the game. Especially since we have all kinds of reptilian races that would make for wonderful playable races.
Iām not really that worried about Dragonflight members doing that as a result. Taking the rumor as face value, youād be running around as an existing race for the most part. Likely, your dragon form would be used for certain attacks or flight. Being a dragon isnāt quite the same as a bipedal reptilian race, though if future races could be implemented in such an area, then having a Saurok that turns into a dragon would be rather fitting.
As for Dragonkin races, Iāve mentioned before that I view races like D&Dās Dragonborn to be really different than Lizardmen races. Sure, both are reptilian, but they have different looks, culture, personality, combat skills, and such that they could be very different. I know at one point, there was a rumor that a Dragonkin race of some kind was considered as an Alliance race during Cataclysm, so I donāt know if that idea has floated around in the void that is future expansion planning. That said, Iām sure they would be different enough from other reptilian races that you could add in others and have all of them be unique in some way.
I donāt see why we couldnāt still get other reptilian races if we did get a Dragonkin race of some kind. I mean, we have Night Elves and Blood Elves, who are completely different in several ways to be their own race. Seeing as there are plenty of races you could use in this argument, I donāt see why this couldnāt happen so we could get more than one reptilian race in the future.
Should we get a dragon based race of some kind, Iām still planning to continue onward with Horde Saurok support. As I said, Lizardmen are one of my favorite fantasy races and playable Horde Saurok are what Iām after with this megathread. Besides, that character creation screen has enough room for several reptilian races that people would love to see on there.
Weāll see what happens when it happens and keep at it for playable Horde Saurok!
Big Same here.
This world (Of Warcraft) is more than big enough for several reptile races. Just like we have several mammalian races.
Dragons are cool and all but theyāre not the reptile race Iām looking for. (Iāll totally play one thoughā¦)
Nowā¦ thats a thoughtā¦ imagines
THIS!
I canāt imagine that a Dragonkin race would or should outmode the request for Saurok or Sethrakā¦ or Tortollan or any other reptile races folk come up with.
We all deserve our chance to see the races we want to play come to fruition.
Good hunting.
OH WAIT! I wanted to share this with youā¦ I posted it in another thread while coming up with short bits about ARās I wanted to see.
" Saurok (H)
Bagzak convinced me that these guys were amazing and honestly I really like reptile races (See Sethrak above). The potential for them either in a return to Pandaria or a major encounter with the Mogu again is wild, plus theyād fit in nicely with the Horde races I think.
Faction: Horde
Racial: Leap - Similar in nature to heroic leap or grappling Hook propels them to a new location.
Racial: Lizard Climb - Allows them to walk on much steeper terrain than any other race. Not entirely climbing walls but ignoring a greater range of impassable terrain.
Racial: Underwater breathing - 200% increased breath meter.
Racial: Nature Resistance - Minor resist nature.
Racial: Grab the bones - Skin more bones from creatures.
Classes: Warrior, Hunter, Rogue, Priest, Mage, Shaman, Druid, Monk?, Death Knight.
Mount: Mushann"
Mostly the Racials I wanted your thoughts on. And classesā¦
Exactly. This is why I believe both Sethrak and Saurok could be playable at the same time and offer completely different experiences and personalities, especially since one is snake-based and the other is lizard-based. If we got a Dragonkin race of some sort, I see no reason why they should be the only reptilian-like race weād get.
I think that character creation screen would be much more interesting with different reptilian races on there, but that is just me.
Same. Itās hard to explain, but Lizardmen are much different to me than a Dragon based race and more interesting. Itās really hard for me to explain in exact words why this is, but the aesthetics and themes of Lizardmen races are much more interesting to me.
I would make a character of both a Dragonflight member and a Dragonkin race, but it wouldnāt scratch that itch of wanting a reptilian race.
Very much agree. I try to support most races people want playable, even if I donāt quite agree with a few of them.
Missing Warlock, but otherwise a good choice of classes.
Racials are also neat and very fitting. Not entirely sure how a Lizard Climb racial would work, since I donāt see WoW having physics like Breath of the Wild, but still an interesting idea. Likely, Iād replace it with a racial to whip your tail at enemies, maybe doing a very short stun or spell interrupt. Maybe a knockdown if the Saurok spins around. Then again, not too sure on how balanced that would be in PvE, PvP, and such.
Still some great ideas, though!
