Had a neat YouTube video appear in my recommendations. It focuses mostly on geckos as pets, but I wanted to share it because a lot of the geckos shown have some really beautiful skin patterns that would make for some awesome Saurok customization options. There are a few interesting facts about them, too.
You can see the video here:
Iāll continue to keep an eye out for anything that could inspire some playable Saurok idea inspiration!
Saurok are known to climb up walls. In one of the MoP scenarios, I believe they climb up the side of a cliff.
I feel like if such a racial were to be a thing with WoWās physics, there might be points that Saurok players would see highlighted that they could click on, and then in a few seconds, they leap or climb over that particular structure to get to the top. Something similar to places with a grappling hook, like in Legion areas or Korthia.
Seems like with WoWās current physics, that would likely be how it could work in some areas. It also seems like something Saberon could have as well. Then again, such a racial would only be as good as the zone designers are interested in adding such points, so I donāt know how practical it would be in the long run, as fun as the idea sounds.
Still a neat idea, though! It would be nice to be able to go across areas as shortcuts. Especially in zones without flying.
So I had an interesting video in my Youtube reccomendations. This is from a channel that makes a lot of sound effects for various things, and this happens to be a video showing off how Lizardfolk could sound in combat:
I imagine Saurok fighting would involve a lot of hissing and maybe something similar to alligator/crocodile bellows. I remember in Everquest 1, the sound effects for Iksar in combat was a lot of hissing.
I imagine something similar would be heard from Saurok player characters in combat. Perhaps following a āFor the Horde!ā battle cry. Itās something I could easily imagine and being very fitting for them!
Not a joke at all. Saurok may seem like your typical mooks with all the depth of a puddle, but they have a lot going for them as a playable race if you look into it. Not to mention that WoW getting playable reptilian races would be huge news, and people like Lizardmen races in general. I feel like playable Horde Saurok for would be win-win for everyone involved, but that would be just me.
Yep! Our three year anniversary will be on June 2nd, and the passion is still strong!
Maybe with luck, Iāll be able to think of something to do to celebrate. Assuming free time would be available for me, of course. Iām open to ideas if anyone has any!
Hopefully, it wonāt be years before we see Saurok on the Horde side of that character creation screen! Weāll keep at it until then, though!
Stopping in to support Saurok here. Iām not really returning to the forums extensively but wanted to toss my support once again. I think they would be great as playable, and if I ever return to the game, I would roll one.
Posting this in both my megathreads, albeit with slight changes to go with the megathreadās theme.
As most people likely have heard by now, the next patch comes out February 22nd for the US and February 23rd for Europe:
Seeing the place we go to during this patch, I canāt imagine anything Saurok related in it. It does sound like weāll be getting a 9.2.5 patch, so if somehow we go back to Azeroth during it, maybe we could see how people are faring while weāve been gone or something. If I noticed anything, Iāll be sure to report it.
Most excitingly though is that it seems like this is the last major patch of Shadowlands, so we could be seeing an announcement of the next expansion in the near future. Hopefully sooner than later. While I donāt know what to expect, though it seems like Dragon Isles may be involved somehow, Iāll always hope to see playable Horde Saurok as a part of the expansionās features announcement.
Regardless of what does get announced, I will continue to march in support for playable Horde Saurok. Iām in it for the long haul, and even if we get some kind of dragon related race, I do feel that Saurok would still have a lot to offer to be able to complement the character creation screen, even if a dragon race of some kind got announced. Weāll see what happens, of course, but I do think that character creation screen could use several reptilian races that would all bring their own unique flair to the game.
Of course, the Horde Council will owe me yet another big favor for saving the world (of Warcraft!) yet again. Maybe I could start some negotiations with some Saurok tribes to join the Horde. Will likely need a lot of meat lovers pizzas, but itāll be worth it!
In all honesty, I would bring in a number of new members into the Horde. Likely, my Alliance main would do the same for the Alliance too.
I mean, weāve saved the world (of Warcraft!) from several world-ending threats. I feel like they owe me big time. Iāll do the legwork in getting the members interested in joining and getting them to the embassy. They just need to approve it and make it official.
Showing my support once again for everyoneās favorite lizards!
Theyāre not something I really want that much personally (I would still make one though, since I like having at least one of everything lol), but Iāll always support more customization and races being added to the game! The more the merrier!
Itād actually be kinda fun playing as an Ambassador and just have a whole expansion of trying to bring the various races into the Hordeā¦I guess the Alliance to, whatever. I think thatād be a fun change of pace. Iād love to bring the Druids of the Flame into the fold, if only for customization options for Night Elves (Cause they are SICK.). As for Sauroks yeah, plenty of opportunities. Would also be a nice way to utilize Ji and the Huojin.
Honestly, seeing another expansion where the Horde and Alliance needs to bring together the various denizens of Azeroth to come together to fight against an extremely dangerous world-ending threat would be a pretty amazing and epic expansion.
It would bring focus to all the race request and customization megathreads and would be a lot of hype in general. Iād be fine with having to unlock races like with allied races also to get them to join up, leading to a finale where all the playable races come together to fight and save the world (of Warcraft!). After all, they live in Azeroth, so to see them lend come together to take on a giant threat would make for a really interesting expansion.
Realistically, Iād be surprised if we got a bunch of playable races again like with BfA, but the idea still sounds awesome. Maybe it is something Iāll type up in a sample scenario writing someday.
Iād love it if they worked in as part of the story (like current ARās) but nixed the whole get to exalted part. Like it never made sense to me that you needed to get to exalted yourself for this group to officially join the Alliance or Horde. That should just be they join when they join in the story and not be locked off to you until youāve done an extra random step.
I get the criticism of the rep grind to unlock races. I also see some reasons why they did it that way at first. The following is all in my own personal opinion:
Most of the allied races werenāt part of their respective factions, so you needed to more-or-less woo them to join up. It wasnāt like you could just do a few things for them and get them to become members and fight for your cause instantly. If they liked your character a lot and you had done a number of things for them, I can see you then being the main reason for their consideration of joining up.
Granted, I also get those who wanted to play these races who donāt really want to spend all that time with something like a rep grind to unlock them. Moreso if you get people who donāt play a lot of characters, who then have to make a potential throwaway character to do it, rep grind or not. And while it felt neat back when BfA was current, it feels a bit odd to have it for newer players who then have to jump through hoops, even with the rep grind gone, to unlock some races when theyāve already become official members of their respective factions by now in the current timeline.
Iām not saying it was the best way to implement new races, of course. I will say that I can at least understand from a business decision why they did it that way at first. To be honest, it got me to do a bunch more than I normally world in the game, where Iād log in as soon as possible and casually do things to increase rep and other unlock requirements. It even got me to look at past reps and achievements to work on in case it lead to something in the future.
That said, the criticism in that respect of unlocking allied races is important to consider for the future. Iām sure there are better ways to implement new races if they consider having you unlock more in the future. Hopefully, something better will be figured out so people can enjoy their new characters for any new races theyād be excited for without something that feels much more like a chore as opposed to an exciting journey.
Of course, Iād happily do what Iād needed to do if it meant I unlocked playable Horde Saurok!
I feel like a rep grind would work out for a really fancy version of the racial mount, sort of like with baseline races. I wish we had more versions of AR mounts, come to think of it.
