The Plague Event is fine. Period

You were never promised any such thing.

And NPC interactions can’t do that? Does every story beat need a ‘forced PvP experience’ because apparently only players can drive the plot?

Then what’s the point of War Mode?

This is not the same as this event an you need to understand that. This is not factional PvP, and while that’s irritating it’s not the same thing.

It shouldn’t have to matter if it’s factional or not. War Mode off needs to equal ‘Players don’t touch’.

Every story beat. Nope. But an event that has only happened once before, and lasts a temporary amount of time. Sure. Bring it on. It’s been 12 years.

So if I log off and skip the event, does it lose its potency as well?

I don’t see that reflected in the description of warmode that I quoted.

Lingxiu:

I’m going to call it here. We don’t agree.

I don’t think you’re a bad person but I don’t think any good will come from us rehashing the same points over and over.

I hope you have fun, however it ends up, and I hope you can at least respect that I hope it ends up a certain way. Even if it ends up different then we want it we can respect that the other person wanted it.

Much forum love, Atalanta.

At some point things need to effect how the player interacts with the world. Where it’s not just dialogue.

BfA gave us the destruction of Teldrassil and Lordaeron and their removal from gameplay.

Having npcs running around scared by the scourge: not very impressive. Being turned into a scourge when you’re not paying attention: that’s something you take note of.

Then it needs upgrades.

And yes, if you attack obvious, ‘this will get you into PvP things’, you get flagged. That’s working-as-intended. However, wandering by Stormwind and getting drilled by the guards, as long as I don’t attack back, shouldn’t flag me and thus not violate War Mode, because I didn’t engage in PvP.

And log off from in frustration due to, skipping the event until it becomes tolerable.

Can’t please everyone. Though doing nothing pleases no one. (Hi WoD and the non-threatening Iron Horde)

This is why the event is interesting to me as well as the RPG aspect of it all.
But I get that people don’t care for it and want to have some sort of ability to still be able to play the game they love too and not have to face the zombie masses.

I still think you’ve been pretty patient, Lingxiu. For someone I don’t agree with I respect your persistence and tact.

An event shouldn’t need to conscript players to be considered ‘fun’. Where’s the fun in this event for someone that abhors PvP? Where’s the fun in this event for someone that’s not aggressive?

The fun is in being scared, since npcs kill you too ofc. In the fact that you have to use the Gadgetzan AH instead of the one in the cities.

You can also just hover far above the ground and you’re safe.

It creates the setting so well. We are supposed to be terrified of what’s happening to the world, how are they supposed to show that unless bad things happen?

For that matter, I’m sure there will be premade groups where people can use mobile AHs in safety.

:frowning:
I feel like I’ve been fairly present and non-aggressive.

Of course! I agree with you though.
Thank you for making the convo a pleasant one.
:blue_heart:

I definitely didn’t mean to gloss over this. I liked the post but let me quote it because this is something that could make the event so much more immersive. There were a couple of great suggestions in the other thread as well:

I feel that you are correct that there could be tweaks to the event that would make it more attractive to a wider range of players. I would love for everyone to take part but it’s still okay if some don’t want to do that and it certainly goes without saying that those that don’t want to participate shouldn’t be insulted or treated badly for it. Thanks again, Atalanta!

Why do I need to be griefed by players? Why can’t the threat of zombies themselves, controlled by AI, be enough? Are you saying there’s no risk in PvE? That no one wipes in raids or dungeons or even gets KO’d by leveling mobs?

PvE can be plenty dangerous and terrifying without the need for gank squads.

All of the luster of the event just wears thin because people are trapped into either being Ghoul chow or logging off. You can’t DO anything while you’re in the air, you have to touch down at some point, and that’s assuming you have a flying mount. What about Exile’s Reach characters? Boosters are required to play now?

You aren’t being griefed, it’s just a type of gameplay that you don’t prefer.

That doesn’t sound fun at all. Might as well watch a movie.

Wow didn’t promise you that you’d enjoy all content, just that you’d have access.

Do you intentionally exaggerate, blow everything out of proportion and jump to the most absurd of conclusions for dramatic effect?
