DK’s should be flat out immune to this. We are a higher caliber of undead and in fact, we literally control ghouls to do our bidding so we should actually be able to control you when you are turned.

There should be established safe zones with a literal barrier of holy energy radiating nonstop that instantly destroys anyone infected and cleanses anyone carrying the infection. It is well within the capabilities of priests and paladins to do this and no way would a military force not respond to something like this in that manner.

There should be squads of immunized paladins pushing into infected areas and slaughtering ghouls. This is exactly what would happen as the law went to establish order.

Given we are heroes and actually do not want to be ghouls, we would not want to actually hurt others we spend our lives to protect. Actually allowing players to choose to be a zombie works against our player’s established lore.
If you want to argue that becoming a zombie makes us lose our minds and our sense of morality and justice…ok cool, then I argue you actually lose control of your mental facilities and thus when turned into a zombie, you as the person lose control of your avatar. Your avatar runs around and does zombie things, but YOU aren’t in control.
