I do mean faction identity and i disagree Its not dead. But If we give in to this and others it will.
7 years of seeing people constantly acting as if their wishful thinking that High elves can be dropped in the lake of playable characters without making any sort of wave itâs something that will happen for sureâŠ
insert sad crying cat picture
Anecdotal, but I have a few friends who actually quit over Velves, though that had nothing to do with helves and everything to do with feeling that the franchise finally lost what drew them to it to begin with; a deep and consistent lore.
You would still need to implement the time to code it, the quest to unlock it, their portrait, enabling what armor they can or cannot use depending on class etc etc.
it takes time and effort and money, and there is nothing to gaurantee them that it will gain them more people.
on the other hand?
Ogres?
Jinyu?
Something that is brand new and looks completely different and unique has a greater chance to bring them in. high elves donât have that, especially because they already exist.
you also need to consider the possibility of alienating a significant portion of your base which has been done by some MMOs and been costly as a result. It is not worth it.
I doubt people would quit on mass if High Elves donât get added, but Iâm equally sure that not many would leave if they were added
Its like this to me:
-
Adding the high elves now with a struggling void elf story line would be Blizzard admitting they were wrong.
-
Adding them with the void elves in existence would cause two varieties of the same genre to fight over the same small screen space for narrative
-
I still believe that they need work in terms of customization or model structure to be added.
-
Im of the firm belief that allied races are going to be a BfA-only system
Please don quote Mortis. Thats disingenuous and you know it. Heâs a jokster.
You are a funny bone.
Honestly not even sure Blizzard understands it. BFA is the Alliance vs Horde expansion. and itâs in the barn with Warlords.
Showâs how much the idea matters beyond âwe fight each other every once in awhileâ.
We donât all track every forum userâs history and heâs just one of many that proves the request of playable Eredar for Horde is a pretty extensive request.
Well, if Classic is proving anything, itâs that the power of nostalgia is not to be under-estimated. The draw for some people to helves is nostalgia.
Wait⊠Ogres and Jinyu donât exist? Also, I think the Kul Tirans are proof enough that Ogres would probably have a small population of players. Out of all the Allied Races, Kul Tirans are the least successful if weâre judging by metrics of players actually playing them. Then again, Iâm all for options.
Judging by the sheer number of velves, however, I think the helves would be a monumental success. They might even beat velves at the most played Allied Race.
Also all those threads garnered very little support as players realize its quite ridiculous.
Liar, The expansion tanked because of the shoddy implementation of yet another grindy AP device, a shoddy implementation fo Azerite, classes that werenât even viable for an entire patch. But sure, its the story and NOT any of those.
Makes sense to me, and I somewhat agree with most of those points. I just think that it means High Elves would have to come at a later date. Probably as something to help sell a new expansion
Its not extensive its 3 thread spread out over months. With no traction. Period.
And with that i leave, cus ive got better things to do that demand my attention. So long everyone.
To be entirely fair, one of those is asking for them for the Alliance and one is a joke. Itâs not hard to miss something that minor.
Not âbackfiringâ when Void Elves are so popular. lol
Youâre taking someone that is well known for posting very thirsty and in jest posts far too seriously.
It really doesnât help your argument.
How did nostalgia work out with WoD?
Yes, itâs all of that, AND the story.
No one cares about Alliance vs Horde past our battlegrounds and our sickomode interactions with our leaders.
Adding High Elves wouldnât ruin this for the general consumer, weâve already seen High Elves fighting and killing the Horde, no one threw a fit back then, they wonât now.
Yup, cause of the model and aesthetic.
You surely canât mean their rich and unique background and story, because in that case, they are a failure.
You act like Iâm supposed to know that. Even if true. Heâs just one of many others.
Backfiring when the decision has spawned a discussion on these forums that has not had a single day pass since the velves were announced, wherein people consistently state that they wanted was helves.
If the velves were meant to be a compromise or replacement for helves, it failed hard. Iâd say that qualifies as backfiring.
Now, if velves were meant to be their own thing, not related to helves at all, then I agree, they havenât backfired at all, theyâre just extremely underwhelming.
