So the Alliance Garrison

Race based design would have been so awesome.

I still return to my Alliance Garrison frequently because it’s such a beautiful area, while (almost) ignoring my Horde one entirely.

That’s a cool opinion. I like the frost/lava Angmar vibe.

It’s a shame your garrison didn’t become a reoccuring block of content unto itself, with the implicit subtext being that it’s sort of become your hideout after, say, Kadgar shoved it in a pocket dimension.

The Alliance Garrison is awesome. It works for RP, for gold farming, and it’s still the major hub for all pet battlers.

It’s gorgeous, well laid-out, and if it had a player home inside, it would have been utterly perfect.

The Horde one is super meh. It has all the same “stuff,” but it looks, even at rank 3, like a slapped together wall around huts with drafty walls. The difference is insulting, imo.

I actually like the Horde garrison better overall because it incorporates natural features into the construction. On the Alliance side I actually liked the level 2 town hall better than the level 3. I thought that castle was a ridiculous waste of resources for a temporary outpost. The level 2 felt more like an outpost lodge.

I really preferred the dirt streets look of the rank 2 setup, as well.

I don’t “hate” the rank 3 Horde garrison, but I think it looks unfinished. Like you said, it looks like a temporary, tossed-up…garrison. The Alliance one looks like a post that was built to stay there and establish a town.

But why is Sappy not near the Alliance herb garden?? In the Horde herb garden, Sappy stands just outside the fence and helps you fight when your picking draws a podling (not that they appear anymore). Alliance Sappy stands on the other side of the wall next to the barracks…

It was a temporary garrison and it had that nice cave with hot springs in the back. It was on-top of an icy mountain, a difficult place to build. As for having a home place, I think that was the idea of the Inn. You’re supposed to stay at the Inn when you’re visiting there.

In a word, yes. That is one thing I have always liked about alliance, their cities are so much nicer.

We need more blood elves in charge, you know they could make it beautiful!

This is happening in all my Garrisons too! It’s so strange, but I wish I sparkled so prettily.

I’m so sick of these potentially cool features just being cast away to the wayside like a used –

… Er, just cast away to the wayside, yeah.

For real, though, there are so many features in WoW that’re relegated to nothing more than expansion gimmicks, that could’ve been genuinely fantastic, and added to the game as a whole, were they just developed a little further. :frowning:

Reports for it go back over two years and it still hasn’t been fixed.

I know FF14 is a different game and not everyone’s cup of tea but your comment made me think of it. There’s all kinds of content in FF14 that is from previous expansions but they always reward currencies that are current as well. It gives the player so much to do, and nothing feels old or wasted.

Alliance garrison makes me feel like I’m a unit from WC 2/3 walking around a players base. Horde garrison makes me feel sad.

I agree with one thing mentioned: the garrisons should have had captain’s quarters.

I remember when I faction changed one of my characters to horde and used my garrison HS and was shocked. I was like, did they just turn my rank 3 ally garrison into a rank 1 horde garrison?

I love the snow in the Horde garrisons ( but then, I do live in a desert ) but wow- that Alliance garrison looks really pretty!

Maybe that’s what I’ll do this week with my Ally alt : )

I normally cry Horde Bias at everything, but Alliance definitely got the better hand when it comes to the Garrison. The Horde got an ugly snowy crap-hole and we got a nice forest with some of the best atmosphere in the game.

Because the Horde is badass and the Alliance needs to be coddled in comfort.
