We can have that by having all group of elves get along fighting Azshara making Tyrande understand that she can pursue vengance against Sylvanas but not necessarily against the entire horde.
My point was, that it doesnât have to be now, other than this is when the writers arbitrarily decided it should be. Last time, they dragged it out across two expansions (two and a half, if you consider the Cata-MoP war as continued fallout from Wrathgate).
To play devilâs advocate, the Siege of Lordaeron was awfully anti-climactic.
The hype was huge after the BfA announcement cinematic. The Alliance fighting back to retake Lordaeron after so many years; the Allies actually being the aggressor for once (later shown to be false); the prospect of total war between the Horde and Alliance with their leaders at the helm, etc.
I had hoped that Siege of Lordaeron would actually be, you know, a proper Warfront (which themselves are a letdown), but nope. SoL was a five minute easy scenario all but forgotten about, and hasnât been mentioned since.
Usually I see people begging for more Shandris, so this seems like a good thing?
To be fair⊠Shandris was with the Alliance forces, so it flows more naturally for her to set out with them when leaving for the new lands. M&T are, I suppose, still in Darkshore fighting the Horde.
It would also be a much worse crime to watch M&T agree to work with the Horde, or set aside hostility, for the new patch, when they should be full of fury and still openly hostile. Shandris is the same I guess, but fells like a smaller set-aside, as opposed to watching the Night Warrior decide⊠âyeah, hey, peaceâŠâ
We couldâve had something similar to ICC. Both factions wanted to kill The Lich King but instead of working together they fought each other all the way.
This would have felt better in a faction war focused expansion.
She did try to pull Tyrande to her side. No one else alive has had ANY interaction with her. Tyrande is the most significant to her story line followed by Malfurion and the Shadowsongs.
And yet all the Naga mock Tyrande as âQueenâ.
You do realize that Tyrande was a trained warrior prior to WotA while Shandris was still a kid. Back then most of them had little military training but they learned and who do you think Shandris learned from? Sheâs been attached to her motherâs hip since the day Tyrande found her.
Itâs really aggravating isnât it. Not to mention that time she said it would be better if Blizz just killed off all the Night Elves. She really needs to just switch to a human as most of us who play NEâs and come to the story fourms are at least like fans of said race and itâs lore.
Too bad BfA: The Faction War was nothing more than a bait and switch propaganda to further Sylvanas arc at the expense of the rest of Azeroth.
Shandris fits the role so I think she works as a representative. Tyrande really would have made sense narratively with dealing with Azshara but I can see a number of reasons why it wouldnât work.
Probably the biggest one, which I think people are overlooking, is that if Tyrande was in the fight against Azshara, it would mean that she would be teaming up with the Horde. There is no way around that. That is a core point of 8.2. We wouldnât be winning against Azshara without putting aside the conflict to focus on the Naga.
Considering Tyrandeâs set up this expansion, would NE players really prefer it if she was there but being buddy buddy with Horde characters? Its a two expansion game people. The other side is going to be there and share the main storyline. There was no way for Tyrande to be involved and not be teaming up with the Horde, ie. the people who genocided hers only 2 patches ago.
Varian, Jaina, Genn, etc have had their personalities switch out of the sudden just to stick them in whatever situation Blizzard see fit but as soon as Tyrande and Night elves are involved they refuse to do it.
Itâs classical Blizzard MO.
Tyrande should die for her night warrior thing and Shandris will take over, isnât thatâs how it works
Well, if you take books - shandris atleast was important since war of the ancients
So your saying you want them to do that to Tyrande?
While Shandris takes POINT. Shandris has been the point elf in the Alliance forces in BFA. Sheâs the major frontline spy in Zuldazar, she commands Sentinel operations there and sheâs even present at the Darkshore warfront as a point contact for the PCâs. For all of her Night Warrior augmentation, Tyrande has not been nearly as active.
Shandris has also worked with and engaged with the rest of the Alliance to a greater degree.
Enlighten me on how a couple months of running around in Zandalar somehow vastly tips the scales against Tyrandeâs combat in WotA (and saving Shandris), ten millenia of heading the Night Elven military (including saving Shandris, again), as well as her own side trips to help Kaelâthas, and save Malfurion (Edit: save Malfurion twice. I forgot Stormrage.)
Not exactly. Iâve given several options that would have made sense without changing much from what we currently got.
All I was pointing out is that Blizzard are willing to make lore and story gymnastics to accommodate their favorite characters agenda but they refuse to do so the moment night elves get into the picture.
Oh. My. Goodness.
This is exactly what is happening and I feel foolish for not realizing it earlier. Everything⊠EVERYTHING makes sense now. When they do the final reveal and we understand what the big plan Sylvanas has it will bring to light all the hamfisted, forced storytelling that got us there.
This is so obviously the writing style that is going on⊠man, why didnât it occur to me till someone pointed it out?
I now feel like I understand my frustration and it has been lifted from my shoulders, because there is only one important aspect to the story (the ending) and I should stop expecting anything else.
Tyrande has me killing murlocs, and Malfurion just yells stuff about trees during the actual warfront. If Our Lord and Savior, Nathanos Blightcaller can be everywhere at all times, Tyrande and Malfurion can show up ONCE for this.
The whole scenario, as written, is pretty disappointing. Tyrande deserves better, Azshara deserves better, and the players deserve better.
Also: inb4 Tyrande and Malfurion are the Sylvanas and Nathanos of next expansion, having been consumed by rage and their desire for vengeance. Shandris will be Saurfang, and will team up with Baine and Anduin to stop the evil Night Elf warmongers and bring peace to the Horde and Alliance.
Eh, I accepted it ever since they barely did anything with Illidan and Tyrande reunited.
I really dont expect anything good from Blizzard regarding Night Elves but to actually turn Tyrande the next villain would be like screaming out loud that they always hated her.
She deserves way better than to be villain batted for trying to defend her people.
