That being said, a wod style gearing system would fit better for more of the community.

Yeah I think they announced it in 9.1, so we’ll see how that works out.

Based on these forums.

1. Gear > skill
2. 1200+ is filled with geared ppl.
3. Ungeared ppl are buying 1800 rating.

So basically undergeared players are being carried, vs players with a ton of gear, by skilled players in a game where skill doesn’t matter…

That logic is more broken than Blizzard’s PvP balance.

It’s okay to have a different opinion, not sure why that’s so wrong in this day and age

id take your post more seriously if you both were 180 tbh. also, watched a top pvp streamer do 2’s with like 150 ilvl, and they lost matches. i wont deny they won some as well, but im pretty sure gear still matters.

im trying to gear an alt strictly through pvp. i have yet to get to the point where im ready to get into arenas. i was a little excited about your post to see if you would give me some insight to what i would be getting into. you claim it was easy to get to 1400, but you did it with a fully geared 226 friend. im not that fortunate. if i remember, ill come back and give you a real idea of what its like.

Well the insight i’ve given is this:

Gearing up to PvP in SL is so easy, even a 15 year old like myself can do it:

1. Hit 60 and finish Covenant Campaign for full set of 197 gear + 187 LFR Weapon.
2. Run BGs to fill in gaps where the Cov gear doesn’t give Vers.
3. Enter into low CR 2s/3s or RBGs with 197 iLevel and with this iLevel you can easily get to 1400.

The way this system works is simple, once you get to 1400 with 197 gear, you can get your 207 which is enough to get 1600 to unlock 213 which then helps you get the 1800 gear and so on and so forth.

The system was designed to work the way I described and as such it is working as intended, I suppose if you find it difficult maybe you could provide some VoDs of your gameplay so we may figure out what you can improve on in order to participate in the system?

I was trying to say I take your experience lightly since you mentioned being carried by a 226 friend. Like I said, I’m going to tackle rated myself soon and I’ll give my report. I’m curious to see how my experience differs from yours without a 226 friend.

I understand that having a 226 friend might make some folks upset to say the least, but at the same time a single person cannot simply outweigh 2 others of equal skill and most of the time we were fighting folks who had way more iLevel than me as well but we both end up surviving.

There’s a lot of things like positioning and stuff like that to pay attention to, iLevel or not.
