I’m tired of the forums being filled to the brim with posts about “boosting” and “gear disparity” when these things have existed long before Shadowlands.
Gearing up to PvP in SL is so easy, even a 15 year old like myself can do it:
Hit 60 and finish Covenant Campaign for full set of 197 gear + 187 LFR Weapon.
Run BGs to fill in gaps where the Cov gear doesn’t give Vers.
Enter into low CR 2s/3s or RBGs with 197 iLevel and with this iLevel you can easily get to 1400.
The way this system works is simple, once you get to 1400 with 197 gear, you can get your 207 which is enough to get 1600 to unlock 213 which then helps you get the 1800 gear and so on and so forth.
If players are finding it difficult to climb because of things other than their skill, then I highly recommend you use me as an example.
I managed to climb up a lock with 180 iLevel to 1.8k with my 226 friend very easily, and I had never even played lock before but prior to queueing I focused very hard on Chainmal’s videos and learned a lot through my grind and research.
I’m planning on taking my fresh 170 Warrior to 2.1 as well with my friend, and I think I will be studying Magnus this time to figure out how to make this climb happen.
Being good at the game requires more than gear, it requires skill. So use me as an inspiration to stop blaming outside factors and look within yourself to get better.
I was being sincere, this was actually a reasonably well-constructed troll post. The tidbit about your 226 friend playing with you is going to set-off all of the forum whiners, good subterfuge there. Well done. Plus, I give extra points for sentence structure, punctuation, grammar and spelling. Bravo.
I haven’t read the latest 35 gear v skill posts, so I’ll take your experience as accurate.
I think you may have missed the point of the gear complaints. Putting aside the mmr versus CR issues, in a rated system you play with what you have against whatever players are queing. Some days may be filled with high level teams, other days low level.
The issue most some people have (as do I), is entering an unrated match against those high geared players. Some may have reached their pvp gear peak, others may be earning points to buy gear to compete. Either way it can be frustrating to do everything right in a fight and still lose because of a 10k health difference.
This is where normalization of gear in unrated games and skirmishes can help even the playing field.
In ranked play and open world, I’ll use an old drag racing phrase, “run what you brung.”
So my issue with this is that we play an MMO, and the time spent acquiring gear is valuable not only to the player but also the developer hence the time played metric. Our gear finally matters again, and each piece feels more exciting to get than the last with the challenges ahead of us and I think if we just eliminated the progression that folks have made, it kinda invalidates their entire experience getting that power level, don’t ya think?
Sir nothing I have said can be considered trolling under forum CoC, but trying to derail the thread is certainly an offense. Please do not continue to troll my thread as I will be forced to flag you, thank you
Go ahead and link it to me, I guarantee this post and that post might have some similarities but are not the same thus not breaking CoC, although if your claim happens to be false then that might be an offense the mods might be interested in
I understand people will bring this up as they naturally will reach for any excuses that makes them not have to deal with their lack of skill, but I cannot control how long my friend plays. He plays longer than me and has more gear, but does that mean I can never play with him again? Obviously not right.
Wrong
I’m 15 and can’t use my main as people have sent some very toxic and strange messages to me before, and most of the people here seem to be grown men so I try to avoid interaction as much as possible.
Plus, what does this have to do with my topic? Derailing a topic can be considered an offense against forum CoC, I won’t report you but I figured you should know
