Serious question: why is the playerbase ok with the underground zones

You’re all ok with hallowfall, ringing deeps and Azj-kahet, But not zaralek caverns.

You’re a hypocrite if you deny this as stated below:

So which is it, honeymoon phase or sweeping zaralek hate under the rug pretending it didn’t happened?

Ringing deeps feels a lot like Zara lek and it’s my least favorite zone out of the four. The rest fell open enough that I don’t mind.

I didn’t have a problem with the layout of Zaralek Caverns, hell I loved Nazjatar. I really enjoy zones that are not just linear but more three dimensional.

Gunna be honest. ZC was one of only two zones in all of DF I actually enjoyed spending any time in. So…

I hated Zarlek, kept hitting ceilings, felt cramped. These new zones I do not feel like that. Plus, each one has its own unique Biome.

I didn’t hate Zarlek I hated how overpowered the NPC’s were and that they never fixed it, big difference.

The biggest difference for me is while these zones are underground, their much more spacious and might as well be an outdoor zone. The ceilings are are higher than most players would ride on their flying mounts in normal open world zones. Zarlek wasn’t significantly smaller but it still felt clastrophic compared to these zones.

My one complaint is that I’m not enjoying how dense the enemeis are in some of these zones and how many have ranged attacks and aggro players in flight above them or have flying enemies in them.

No I am not. I never wrote any of that stuff and as anyone who frequents the forums should know, just because it’s written here doesn’t make it true.

Serious question: Why do you care what other people are saying about the game?

It’s hard to call Hallow underground when there is greenery everywhere and a giant fake sun in the sky.

Caverns was a side zone, Hallowfall and the likes are part of the main zones and the flesh of thy body of the expansion.

Caverns was a place holder for a raid, nothing more.

Plus, Nerubians :+1:

Legit spindle alone made me like that zone. :heartpulse: :heartpulse: :heartpulse:

Yeah, if someone hates one underground zone for reasons that isn’t actually the part where it is underground, then they must also hate all underground zones even if the latter doesn’t have the same flaws the former.

Failure to do so makes them a hypocrite, says the intellectually lazy reductionist.

And you’re miopic if you don’t see the difference.

Mostly because Zaralek was just a cheap prototype of these new zones. It feels smaller and more claustrophobic, you hit the roof or a stalactite every time you try to fly, and it was full of disgusting and smelly mole creatures.

It’s also just another fiery lava filled hole which seems to be 9 out of 10 of our raids and any underground areas.

These new zones actually feel like an ecosystem down there. Not just molten core with moles.

Because all Zuma does is stir the pot and make his :poop: takes.

ZC is not even close to a comparison with say hallowsfall. Small brain chatter.

Underdark adventures are a trope I like seeing explored.

However, I can’t deny Zaralek caverns felt claustrophobic and I wasn’t wild about it.

It’s only been a few days, so I can’t give the long term verdict yet, but as an initial reaction, TWW zones appear to have solved that aesthetic problem to my satisfaction.

I think it’s assumptions and bad opinions.

  1. Those areas are fine now because we will have groups to do rares.
  2. Those areas will be fine later because we will outgear the rares. And, we’re already starting to outgear the rares with normal dungeon gear.

Also, it seems like a bit of a leap, that we can’t like these zones for other reasons. Hallowfall is a beautiful zone with interesting NPC’s. Mereldar looks brilliant, and might be my favorite town/city right now. Something about the zones fog effect makes it feel like a dream or the end of the world or something.

Either way, their complaints are unrealistic and the new zones are amazing.

not sure most hate from ZC came from the fact that it’s underground (especially since you could dragonride) but rather the fact that the elites were raid bosses and didn’t drop anything special, the world quests in the elite zone were hard as hell and had no one completing them because the rep was pathetic. the rep was pathetic zone-wide, the rares barely gave you anything as did the WQs (all rares in the TWW zones give you 150 rep which is way better) and RUF was the worst zone event they’ve ever done

Because they got the underground zone right this time instead of rushing it, and it shows.
The layout, ceiling height, location diversity, variety of content are all MUCH better than ZC.
