this has been the most annoying quest zone in my experience in the past like 4 years.
I’d rate the Maw as worse than ZC. But ZC is definitely second.
It’s very bad, indeed.
High mob density.
Every pack has multiple abilities that need to be interrupted.
Swirlies.
Lava.
Dismounting.
Knockbacks.
Many patrolling packs.
High damage, high health.
Massive hp rares on a 15 minute timer.
Researchers world quest is terrible, even worse when you’re alone as no one is in the caverns.
Ect.
It’s sad how Z Caverns is way more annoying and harder than Emerald Dream. The latest zone that gives better gear and where the players are at.
The worst thing? All Blizzard has to do is scale the zone down.
Reduce all hp and damage from everything in there to 1/10th of what it is now.
Zone is now saved and can be soloed.
It’s interesting, for the number of these types of zones that they have created, they seem to be regressing in quality.
Probably because they are technically making them faster than before.
.1 zones didn’t come along until SL. Until then we normally just had to wait until .2 patches.
But since we’re not getting .3 patches anymore, people probably wouldn’t like it if we only got one new zone to do stuff in per expansion.
The problem with it is virtually everything in the zone except for the normal world quests requires a raid group. And since noone goes there anymore…yeah.
IMO at this point they need to have the health of the rares (and the one survey quest) scale with the number of players. So one person could kill them. They should be challenging solo, but not completely impossible like they are now.
For real… even Korthia was a breeze to quest in despite the lack of flying
Quite often on Korthia you could literally knock out the 3-5 daily quests in about ~20 minutes even with the slow ground mounts. ZC is just “annoying”, feels claustrophobic and isn’t a fun zone in general
Blizzard for some reason just refuses to scale the dead zone down.
It makes no sense.
It’s not just the rares.
Normals amd elites need scaling down too.
The MaW was worse.
Zaralek isn’t good in my opinion also but that is just from a game loop and aesthetic point of view so not that much better than MAW.
But nothing will be worse than that garbage.
I dipped from Zaralek quickly after doing the campaign there. Not a fan at all of that zone.
I didnt mind the zone, seems like reg zone, didnt go back there after 20 renown
No, Zaralek Caverns has a long way to go before it gets anywhere near as bad as the Maw.
Personally, I didn’t mind it too much as it had the easiest dragon races by far.
The regression in quality is primarily attributed to players abandoning the zone once the content and catch up needs have been met. Also the loot lock out on the rares didnt help extend the life of it either.
I agree, the Maw was terrible and Zaralek is not nearly that bad, primarily because you can fly there. But I do have one thing to say about it: the rares in the Maw could be killed with 3 people pretty easily when it was current. Not so with Zaralek. The only thing in the Maw that required a raid group was the world boss.
I agree with this. I have a lot of trouble doing the dragon riding races on the surface because all too often I have trouble seeing the pale gold “rings” up against a bright/ light background. However, in Zaralek I can actually see all the rings very well because of how dark it is in the caves.
Not to mention, the total lack of trees!
