Returning player can't find any OLD characters

unfortunately it was a no go

i remember seeing a reply some years ago on a similar issue, point in reference to this is to create a toon on any server but dont log into it. sometimes creating a toon will cause others to repopulate on the server list to show your correct toon count.

if this happens to work out you could try doing character xfers again like ruffle mentioned.

Looks like you may want to double check the Azuremyst realm

I am having the same issue - my characters are missing (or I can’t find them). I last played in 2008 or 2009. I think my realm was Cho’gall, but I’m not 100% certain. I tried creating a new character there but no luck (I leveled it up just to be able to post here). I also tried deleting the cache folder multiple times. I also tried the transfer suggestion - no luck. I know this is the correct account because it shows I had purchased WOW1 (I’ve only ever had 1 battle.net account). I had a level 70 or level 80 undead priest named esco. I also had a level 80 tauren warrior named cowbert. I also had a level 60 dwarf priest. I had several other random lower level characters that I don’t recall the names of. Please help

Hopefully a blue will be able to point you in the right direction. In the mean time, note that all of the character levels were squished a while back now, so a level 80 character would now be level 30 and a level 70 would now be level 27.

It is also likely that their names would no longer be in place and would have placeholder names as they’d have been released a long time ago too.

The Wow license you are currently posting on was created in 2014 with no activity until today. My guess is the account you are referring to is on a different license, so I’m afraid your old cache folder won’t have any details that would help.

Unfortunately, character names from that long ago would have been released years ago, meaning that any character you had would have been flagged for a rename and likely had extra letters added to it. For example, it would look something like, Cow5643DB, which would be the name until you logged in and selected a new one.

I wasn’t able to find any variation of that name on Cho’gall but I did find a level 80 Tauren Warrior on Scilla and the name on the WoW license is your first initial and last name.

I can’t post the email address it is associated with but I can tell you it is a @yahoo address that starts with S.

If you can’t figure it out from there you’ll want to submit a ticket so a Game Master can help recover the account for you.

I appreciate you taking a look. I’m confused by the note that the account was created in 2014. I can see in my account where I purchased a blizzard authenticator back in 2008 (so I know this is the correct account - I only ever had 1 account and it had the authenticator on it). Perhaps I tried to log on in 2014 and had to reset the password and disable the authenticator. Is it possible this caused an issue?

I also have the email in my gmail box showing that I canceled this subscription (first initial last name) on July 12 2009. I’m not sure how the email address would have been changed, but it should be the same as this account.

If at some point I changed it to an @yahoo address (no idea why I would have), I don’t have access to it. I submitted a ticket but still no response over 24 hours later. I tried logging in to Scilla server but nothing there :frowning:

Last I heard, tickets were closer to 48 hours I believe. Hopefully a GM will be able to take a look at things and provide some further assistance. Unfortunately, there’s not a whole lot the Blues here can do because of everything being so public.

Yea, I get it on the public thing. Thanks everyone. Hopefully the ticket folks can help.

Also to note, wow license is not the same as battle net account.

You could have set up a blizzard account for something other than world of warcraft. Maybe even intending on merging an older wow license into battle net.

I appreciate the insight. I think this must be the same account/login because I used the authenticator to log in to world of warcraft back in 2008/2009.

Question on this - if I am sure I know the old world of warcraft account name, how do I go about trying to log into it if it might not have been merged into my battle.net account properly?

If you have the account information you could merge old wow accounts under battle net in account management.

If you do not remember the account information, putting in a ticket would help, they can find all accounts.

They changed that a couple of years ago. Merging a pre-battle.net WoW license into a battle.net account can’t be done by the player anymore.
The player would need to submit a support ticket to get it done now.

I submitted a ticket 3 days ago. The ticket number is US80713541. Is it possible for you to take a look at this one?

Vrack is a Support Forum Agent. While he can see some things and give hints, actual recovery of accounts is not within his scope. It is done by other types of support people charged with those responsibilities and with access to tools for doing so.

The forums would not be a way to jump to the head of the ticket queue anyway.

Just say no to…Vrak? Hehe

Ah not trying to jump ahead. I thought since they looked at some other info they might be able to add the info they couldn’t post publicly to the ticket to help along the support person that would look at the ticket. My bad.

I had a beginning level Death knight who was already in a guild… that’s all i can remember and i’m getting so frustrated. I think her name started with an A?

I’m afraid the only Death Knight I can see on this WoW license is the level 64 on Perenolde. It doesn’t start with an Ar, but a Fl. It is in a guild.

Editing for correction.
