and no, your ‘examples’ don’t prove that they don’t punish people for abusing game systems at all just because you did not see it happen does not mean that it does not happen.
You somehow think that people that ,and to be more specific to what I am saying, people who repeatedly or blatantly abuse this system will never and are never punished, will they catch everyone that does it? Of course not, but go ahead, try your luck :O)

Forum handles replies a bit differently than it used to. Quotes are actually rather useless now since you can just click an arrow and see the post that was being responded to.
Activision laid off how much of their customer support? You really think the remaining staff are going to spend time investigating and seeing if every report is legitimate, or someone is abusing the system? Get real.

I know you’re not literally crying but anytime anyone brings up a point around here. It’s crying. This whole topic is because people were crying because trolls in chat. No they were crying because some of it is too far. Some if it does not belong in the magical land of Azeroth.
Here’s my disconnect with this. Blizz has literally stated those abusing it can and will be punished.
Every single case I’ve seen brought up about this has been hogwash. The one case where someone was banned for abusing it was in OW.
People keep saying its abused. Yet when they do bring their cases up its in twitter and youtube to get the masses panicking. Then we find out. Oh no it wasn’t abuse in fact it wasn’t even what they claimed it was for. Lol.

Then we have Asminbald blatantly abusing the system and posting videos on it. Him and everyone who reported him should have recieved at least a week ban. Bet we wouldn’t be having this discussion right now if blizz would have enforced their own policy with that.
Idc that he did it to himself. Did he orchestrate abuse if the system to squelch a player in game by mass reporting? Yes he did. Guilty.
As am I. If blizz doesn’t enforce this policy in classic than I’ll be right here with you guys crying for change.

Scroll up a bit a poster listed what you can and can’t do while squelched. You can do everything you need to except speak in public channels. There’s still ways to get in groups. Unless of course you’re that player no one wants to group with because you’re too edgy. /shrug

So you honestly think that they are never going to punish people for repeatedly and blatant abuse of this system? yah , Get real is accurate, what makes this any different than them punishing people for abusing any other system, what makes this specific system somehow immune to that?

This actually worries me… Anyone who’s played on a private server knows that his example of “Devilsaur Mafia” is real - the level of harassment done by players/guilds/opposing factions, and the level of COORDINATED harassment (contacting members of the opposite faction in order to camp players of your faction to prevent the farming of leather) is insanely frustrating. Giving them another tool in their toolbelt? no thanks
so when you are typing the reply box and you click the qoute bubble(above where i started) what does it do?
The fact the TOS says that ‘griefing’ is against the rules, which creates a massive grey area that the trolls will abuse to the fullest. And also of sheer numbers. If a thousand people abuse the system every day and make up bogus reasons (everyone can be offended by everything these days, remember) they will overwhelm the system.
By the way, there is no such thing as WoW GMs. A customer support employee services all of Blizzard’s game; they’re not game-specific anymore. Hell, they might be part of all Activision games. But that I’m not positive on.
Find a tweet or some legitimate source that proves Blizzard laid off support staff.

Griefing would be just one, abuse of game systems is the bigger one.
But yet in all the years this has been in effect this has never happened, but yet with the community that is professed to be so much superior then current, this will somehow now happen.
I am 100% sure abuse would happen, it happens now, what I don’t subscribe is the sky is falling scenario that a lot seem to flock too.
And worth repeating as a personal note on the subject, I am all for the removal of auto squelch, always have been.

The last person who tried to show proof that a GM or support staff was laid off linked the tweets from an employee that was laid off in 2011.
well Blizzard did offer severance packages to people.
